  1. see, this needs to be fixed for both of our sakes.
  2. as always, i am right. now take the cheater's nine points away so i can be high scorer of the week.
  3. just for clarification purposes... earlier this week tim promoted liz from his minor league roster to start a game. after the game, he was sent back to tim's minor league roster. liz is under the minor league limits. tim had a maxed out roster of 18 when he called liz up, meaning that for that day (while liz was on his active roster) his roster stood at 19, which is one over the limit. first of all, i'm pretty sure it was established last season that you can't use your minor league roster as an expanded bench. that is, you can't call guys up midweek from your minor league roster to start games, even if you somehow make room for that guy by dropping someone else or something. secondly, i don't think there is any question you can't have a roster of 19 at any time. i get that you can have an overflowing bench to prevent you from going over the 7 start limit, but i don't think that means you can go over the overall roster limit of 18 for any reason. even if you're allowed to bring a minor league guy up midweek (which i don't think you can), you certainly can't bring him up to a full roster without dropping somebody or, at the very least, sending someone on your active roster down to the minors. obviously this doesn't matter much for this week (though tim and i are duking it out for high score of the week :D ), but it should be cleared up.
  4. the eighth inning substitutions last night were a clusterf.
  5. i was surprised to see marshall and dubois standing outside the hotel fort des moines this afternoon because i thought they were going to play these games at a different field...what happened to that plan? anyway, principal park is literally an island right now. much of downtown was evacuated today.
  6. seriously, you watch 150 or so games every year and you're crying about how difficult it was to watch TWO innings? spoiled babies.
  7. Not sure why that is a key word when I still have friends and contacts who work there. I don't think you realize the number of Assistant Managing Editors of Sports there have been at Tribune in at least the last decade. Or how many sports editors there have been in the last decade. Quite a few...and they all heard from Jay as well as the main editor and the publisher that I know of for sure. If by guidelines you mean they won't allow their people to appear on other outlets, that is incorrect. Now not so sure under "new" Tribune management since it was all thrown out the window by Zell. But if a writer wanted to appear on another outlet, you had to get permission first and had to reveal in the annual ethics statement any additional monies your received from outside appearances. Sometimes I wonder why I bother though since every time I respond to a post I am challenged by someone as a no nothing. Oh, that's right...I'm a female. got it. come on...it has nothing to do with your gender and everything to do with your obvious bitterness. give me a break.
  8. Kenny Lofton, career .300 hitter and .370 OBP guy. Yes he's old, but he hasn't really gotten any worse over the last few years. He's currently unemployed, so he'll come cheaply. When Soriano returns, get rid of the more unproductive of Lofton/Edmonds. Seems like a pretty simple solution to me. there's a reason he's unemployed.
  9. i'll assume the "damn good in the field" comment was sarcasm.
  10. the airport is fine, but fleur dr, a road that lots of people take to the airport is underwater. there are obviously other ways to go.
  11. Look at his minor league success. He was very, very, very good as a starter. sure, so was Pie. just saying that he's probably the best reliever in the game right now. no reason to rock that boat Exactly. If it isn't broken, don't fix it. one could argue the rotation is going to need some fixing at some point in the near future.
  12. Life is good. quite a difference a day makes. vazquez, webb and cueto combined for 2 points, while dempster threw up 37.5 and the hand sanitizers hit two grand slams. don't feel 100% confident at this point, but it helps knowing you only have two starts left. losing soriano sucks pretty hard, but boy am i glad no one was interested in trading for david murphy!
  13. the cubs will have a bigger lead in the division when soriano gets back than they do now. don't do anything rash, cubs.
  14. it has been a scary month or so here. seven people died in the parkersburg tornado and apparently there were fatalities tonight when another tornado went through a boy scout camp. we've had tornado warnings/watches nearly every day for the last week or so. the river is dangerously close to overflowing and it's supposed to rain A LOT over the next couple days.
  15. not many stolen off him now though, eh?? eh?? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
  16. i don't know how accurate those gamecast things are, but it doesn't look like he's throwing-it-to-the-backstop wild.
  17. and the progression to becoming rick ankiel continues...
  18. i have this false hope that one of these innings he's gonna go out and have an 11 pitch inning with 8 strikes, and he'll be fixed.
  19. my work computer can't handle gameday.
  20. i'm only following through the online box score thing...inning over?
  21. run scored on a sac fly or ground out or something.
  22. i don't hear about any kind of adjustments or tweaks or anything in between starts (doesn't mean they don't happen, i guess). it's almost like they just keep throwing him out there, hoping it'll fix itself.
