  1. this is your dream come true.
  2. the timing of that trade worked out pretty well for me.
  3. yeah, he sucks. i'm not arguing that. he should have been able to get the bunt down. but him not being able to do it really isn't any worse than lou asking him to do it when he must not be very good at it.
  4. why? you want ryan howard practicing bunts on the one in a million chance he's going to be asked to do it? just because you could bunt in high school against a guy throwing 68 mph doesn't mean every major leaguer is going to be able to do it against a major league pitcher.
  5. i hate this argument. you know, the one that assumes getting down a squeeze bunt is just as easy as putting the bat out there and viola the run scores. Not at all...but it should be pretty reasonable to ask for some contact... why? i'm sure it's not easy to get down a bunt when 1) you don't bunt very often 2) the opposing pitcher is jose valverde who is wild, throws hard and has tons of movement on his pitches and 3) it's a suicide squeeze in the 9th inning of a 1-1 game. i say fontenot gets the job done with that bunt maybe 50% of the time.
  6. a buddy told me that soriano should have shortened up and hit a fly ball and pretty much implied he was a bum for hitting a grand slam.
  7. another important component of the argument is "BIG LEAGUERS SHOULD KNOW HOW TO BUNT."
  8. i hate this argument. you know, the one that assumes getting down a squeeze bunt is just as easy as putting the bat out there and viola the run scores.
  9. i'd like to see you defend garrett atkins' performance this year. check AND mate.
  10. Hoffpauirs the one who should be sent down. I know, hes our lefty power that gets ahold of 1 once in a blue moon between awkword looking strikeouts, but he has options and other than being lefty, he serves the same purpose as Fox, maybe a bit better defensively but a lot worse offensively. The problem is, who is this mythical replacement catcher who can hit? I guess we could bring up Robinson and hope for lightening in a bottle until Soto returns, but his AAA numbers dont look like theyd traslate into big league succes. I guess we could just trade for Greg Zaun or something of the like. dude, i don't mean to be a jerk, but didn't you want Hoffpauir starting over Derrek Lee like six weeks ago?. Yeah, that change of heart is hilarious. If your refering to May when Lee was hitting in the high .100s/low .200s and everyone and there mother was shouting Free Micah Hoffpauir, then yeah, guilty as charged. Bsides, you cant deny that none of us thought that wed ever see this side of D Lee again. doesn't mean i wanted 36 year old career minor leaguer micah hoffpauir to take his place.
  11. other than hitting the game-winning extra-inning grand slam, he didn't have a good game.
  12. I don't either. But I don't get all the hand wringing and apocolyptic forecasts for his defense. Teams regularly have to play guys out of position for a game or two. It happens. Koyie's actually at the 17 consecutive game mark, including 1 DH and the ASB. The heat is starting to play a factor, and I would think just for the sake of keeping him alive for the next week+ until Soto comes back, they would want to give him a day off. also, koyie hill can't hit.
  13. jake fox is no worse behind the plate than koyie hill is as a batter.
  14. bradley made it to second safely, right? valverde takes forever to get to home plate. i don't have a problem sending the runner there. i also can't believe people were flipping out about sending lee with ramirez at the plate and chris sampson on the mound. that's a no brainer. and yeah, the squeeze is a stupid, stupid play.
  15. if cecil cooper isn't going to let the NL's leading basestealer steal in the 13th inning of a 1-1 game, i think it's safe to say he wouldn't be sending people willy nilly all game long against fox.
  16. Agreed. Let him catch until he gives you overwhelming reasons why he shouldn't. He already has. no he hasn't. i'm not saying start him every day, but he could catch the day game after a night game and i'd be fine with it.
  17. that was a fireable offense. thanks for the free out and losing your team the game, idiot.
  18. i'm fine with fox catching. that's how bad of a hitter koyie hill is.
  19. soriano is gonna get drilled tomorrow...my goodness.
  20. it took soriano 11 minutes to get to first base.
  21. people are complaining about hitting and running with aram at the plate and chris friggin sampson on the mound?
