because what he did in AA two years ago could be indicative of how he plays in chicago. is that such a hard concept to wrap your head around?

Well its pretty idiotic to say colvin was a bad pick when he has had limited time in the majors. When you sign as a pick it does not make you a pro. Its until you're in the majors in my book. well, your book is wrong. Please explain? you are a professional when you are paid to do something. tyler colvin was paid to be a baseball player when he signed with the cubs. thus, he was a professional when he signed as a pick.

You do realize Wilken has only been with the cubs 3-4 years right? I just find it funny that you want a guy to pull out all star in that span. For the time he's been here, he has certainly done an excellent job. 4 years ago the cubs farm system was a joke and now, its actually one of the best. I think it was Keith Law who mentioned their system was in the bottom 5 a few years ago, to have such a turnaround is actually pretty good. i don't know that anyone thinks wilken is a buffoon or anything. i'm just not like "well, wilken can do no wrong...look at how awesome tyler colvin is."

and being a "top prospect" when you're the most recent 1st round pick isn't all that impressive either...especially in the cubs' system.

yeah, i don't get the "well, i trust wilken, he hasn't let us down so far" line. if his 1st round success stories are a fourth outfielder and a middle reliever, i'm not going to be too wowed.

various teams are playing each other. i've lost two in a row and i need to put an end to this [expletive]. traded too much to get a new closer, but every day i woke up with kevin gregg as my closer killed me a little.

You might get yours this week, especially if Kershaw and Leake don't deliver great performances. BTW, Buster Posey was finally called up! I know we've been through this before, but I cannot promote him midweek and drop a player to find him roster spot and then place him in the lineup ? Please confirm. i believe you can put him in the lineup, yes.

Right, so why wouldn't he want to go to one of those instead of some sweep of a doubleheader in May of 2004? Because he's trolling? Yes. Jake is definitely trolling. And he's also definitely the only one doing so in this thread. I know Jake isn't a troll, but that response was just dumb. Why would that be the one game he would want to go to? Congrats those wins really meant a lot for your franchise they propelled you to 6 more losing seasons. Meanwhile you could have watched Honus Wagner play. yeah, dummy. what an appalling waste of a time-travelling opportunity. -

kinda sucks to only outscore your opponent by 10 or so on a day when you each have two starts and one of your guys throws a CG shutout. oh well, up 45 with even starts and i've dodged the hughes/halladay combo.

my first seven draft picks: granderson - terrible/now injured hill - injured wolf - so-so lowe - terrible street - injured francisco - terrible/lost his job conor jackson - injured so, yeah, i'm pretty good at drafting.

pretty happy to be 3-1 considering street, hill and rollins have been injured, teix, granderson and sheets have been terrible, and both my closers lost their jobs within a week and a half.
