  1. yeah, you continue to say this, but i never said i felt the rule needed to change. so you can put that argument away because it makes no sense.
  2. oh, here come the threats to kick me out. i pay on time and tend to my lineup every week, which is obviously more than a lot of others in this league can say. sorry i pointed out the fact that you changed a rule mid-season because it benefitted you. correct me if that is in any way inaccurate. i don't think that is against the rules and guidelines of this league. if anything, i'm jealous...i wish i had the power to do that when i had to drop peavy.
  3. just read this and think of how [expletive] dumb it sounds. yeah, i realized this DL issue was really starting to become a problem for me, so i was like, yeah, i'll just go ahead and change it. didn't really impact me the first 1,000 times others complained about it, but man it really hit home when i was actually effected by it.
  4. Why didn't you say something during that point, Adam? Where was your proposal? i didn't say anything because the rules are the rules, and it would be pretty dumb to change them mid-season, especially when i would only have wanted them changed because it effected me. right. but you didn't make the change until it really helped you. just look at this from someone's perspective other than your own. people have been managing roster crunches all year with injuries/guys on the DL. i just dropped a pretty good pitcher last week because of this issue. people have brought this up several times over the course of the season. then it effects the commissioner and, what do you know, the rule is immediately changed. you have to admit that seems pretty ridiculous when it's laid out like that.
  5. i have no problem with the rule change, but this isn't the first time it's come up. but as soon as it becomes an issue for you, the rule just gets changed. i had to drop jake peavy 10 DAYS AGO because of my roster crunch. then someone picked him up and traded him for a bunch of draft picks. that pisses me off and is complete [expletive]. sure wish your precious roster crunch would have coincided with peavy's injury a little better.
  6. lol, brian has a roster crunch, so he just changes the rule. i guess that worked out pretty well for him.
  7. ps...there is NO WAY you are dumping contracts AND getting good prospects for zambrano/soriano. you're probably not doing either, actually.
  8. but yeah, the cubs could DEFINITELY trade soto for jonathan lucroy if that's what you're suggesting.
  9. Looking at the career line seems pretty unhelpful with a guy like Soto. Like you said, he's been either tolerable or terrific (or hurt). He's never had a season that's simply good. It's always been well above or well below that. One would have to imagine that such extreme volatility would lower his value to other teams. man, you are never right.
  10. holy [expletive], i guess i should have held on to peavy and his broken body.
  11. i think i play alamo stealth this week...
  12. well, this makes no sense. so since you're not sure he can stick at ss (but you don't really know), you want to do what, exactly? move him to 3b so he gets practice there? but i guess he may not be a 3b either, so maybe just make him a utility guy to make sure he gets lots of practice at other positions?
  13. This is addressed in the rules thread. A player is minor league eligible until the first time he has more than 200 at bats (not plate appearances) in a season. Ramos will likely lose minor league eligibility within the next few weeks but he still has it for now. ah okay. so if, say, anthony rizzo bats 199 times this season then can i keep him in the offseason as a minor league keeper? yes
  14. but, in any event, i'll set the over/under at 6.5 and take the over.
  15. some people here seem to not really understand what "over/under" means.
  16. as i'm sure you can imagine, i did take just the teeny tiniest slightest bit of enjoyment from this given your post from a few hours before. however, i'll go ahead and be the bigger man here and suggest that you could pick someone up to replace brett anderson and his exploded arm.
  17. jaywalkers should be given the death penalty. hey, don't want to get the chair? don't jaywalk.
  18. wait, you worked 35 hours over a 2 day span???
  19. i'm fine w/ leaving it how it is. pitchers are riskier due to the higher potential for injury, so i'm fine with them scoring more. if that makes sense...
  20. wow, that's idiotic.
  21. also, the reason you're having to have this discussion after your long weekend is because these rules are ridiculously and unnecessarily complicated (apparently). NEW RULE PROPOSAL: don't go over 7 starts. do whatever the hell you want with the rest of your lineup. have fun. this would put an end to 99.9% of these discussions.
  22. that sounds like something my dad would say to me when i was seven. give me a break.
  23. me too. keep the 7 starts rule, but otherwise all bets are off. then you wouldn't have to listen to me "whine and bitch" about people not following the rules. i mean, that right there makes it worth it, doesn't it?
  24. don't worry guys, kaplan was on local radio today suggesting the cubs could unload zambrano and ALL of his remaining contract on the yankees and get montero in return. so that's exciting.
