  1. Please continue to talk crap about him. Hopefully he'll shut you up again. He'll do his usual 1 good AB where he hits a HR, then strike out on 7 total pitches in his next 3 ABs. I'm really tired of watching him swing at everything. He watched 2 pitches for strikes.
  2. I really, REALLY hate this organization sometimes. Maybe the Indians should send C.C. Sabathia down too. Hell, the Marlins even keep trotting out Andrew Miller despite the fact that he's getting rocked. The defending NL Champs keep going with Ubaldo Jimenez and he's walked 22 batters. All these guys have also been giving up a lot of runs, which Rich Hill has not been doing. He has a 4.12 ERA. I understand he isn't going deep into games and our bullpen is "taxed", but that's mostly Lou's fault. He'll leave Marquis out there to give up 10 hits in 5 innings, but will pull Hill in the first inning because he walked a run in. Then on top of that he uses a converted starter for only one batter per game. Sorry for ranting, but this is just so incredibly ridiculous. Let's hope Hill goes down to AAA and has a couple solid starts and limits the BB so we can get our 2nd best starting pitcher back into the rotation.
  3. So do I...Would have no problem hitting 5th..Then we could have Fukudome batting 1st or second..Lineup would be so much better I actually like Fuku hitting 5th. That way if a team pitches around DLee and ARam, we will get a good AB behind them with an excellent chance of advancing the runners and maybe scoring a run. I will take that any day of the week over a guy who K's or DP's too much behind them. The guy who would presumably move up to No. 5 has a better OPS than Fukudome, I believe. Sorry, I was distracted and missed the CLee part. I was going off of what we have. I like Fuku batting 5th over someone like Sori. My bad. If CLee was on the team then I see your point. Although CLee's OPS (.812) is nowhere near Fukudome's (.955). However, I expect that margin to lessen throughout the season and I wouldn't be at all surprised if CLee finished higher.
  4. Sorry to sound like a total d-bag, but no one gives an F about Spring Training. He's been better than Lilly and Marquis yet he's been on the outside looking in on this crappy starting rotation. Exactly. Hill has walked a lot of batters, but has had better overall results than both Lilly and Marquis. I hate how so many people are acting like Hill has been horrible when he has a 3.79 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP coming into today's game. Seriously, just let the guy pitch and shut up. It has gotten quite ridiculous.
  5. Seriously. Ryan Theriot hit a single yesterday. I want you to find me a quote from anyone that says that Ryan Theriot will never hit a single. I'll wait. Take all the time you need. Oh? Nobody has said that? Okay then. The argument against Ryan Theriot is not that he will never, ever do anything, and will hit .000/.000/.000 with zero putouts and zero assists. The argument is that over the course of a full season, Ryan Theriot is unlikely to be especially productive at shortstop - his median forecast is basically right at replacement level, and his high-end forecast still falls short of league average production from his position. He will occasionally have good days, sure - I'm sure I can find some game-winning hits from Neifi Perez if I go back and check the play-by-play records. But over time, the likelihood is that the bad days will outnumber the good. That said. If for whatever reason you will only be satisfied with Ryan Theriot's detractors if we say bad things about him even on the good days - I am there. I am so there. If that's really all that you need to... well, I have no idea why this seems to bother you, but if it does, I will go ahead and provide that valuable service to you. So far as I am capable, I will go ahead and find a way to communicate to you, personally, Ryan Theriot's worth as a starting shortstop - in game threads, in postgame discussions... any time, any place. You're welcome in advance. I think I am in love with this post! Welcome to the boards. Me too, because just what these boards need is more condescending posts. Somebody has to fill the Meph-void. Hopefully Colin loves the draft, because Meph was almost essential on draft day. That post wasn't very condescending at all. I thought it was well thought out and delivered in a way that utilized humor and hyperbole to make a point, but didn't attack anyone. If you (and I don't mean that directed at any one individual) can't handle that level of "condescendment" you probably shouldn't read message boards. And, for the record, I like reading posts from Truffle quite a bit, so I wouldn't have said all that if I thought he was being personally attacked.
  6. Eh...we had no business winning that game anyway. I'll take the split against the defending NL champs. Lets go win at least 2 in Washington.
  7. Theres no denying Theriot is king of the base hit, but aside from that, he offers very little value to a big league roster. He's a pesky singles hitter, with average to below average defense at SS. not to mention that most of the hate (obviously a reactionary word, not true hatred) is based on his long history of being decidedly mediocre at best, and yet he is still cemented into the lineup for the foreseeable future. Oh no, my hatred is genuine.
  8. Because he does something good every once in awhile, I can't hate him?
  9. Check swing grounder to Cedeno at second. Flipped to Theriot (good flip, for the record) and he dropped the ball. All runners safe. BB thought it would have been 2 to get us out of the inning.
  10. It's tough to call a squeeze when everybody in the stadium thinks it's coming. If it's the 9th inning maybe, but in the 8th I say get as many runs as you can. I would gladly have taken a run there with DLee/Ramirez coming up with 2 outs.
  11. Methinks some baserunning drills may be in order for certain members of this team. Please tell me you're joking. I mean, I hate Fontenot as much as anyone, but there was absolutely nothing he could do there. He's gotta take a big secondary lead so he can break up the DP on a ground ball and the ball was hit hard right to the 1st base bag.
  12. You guys are right. That was the perfect time for a squeeze.
  13. Get him in Theriot! Marmol and Wood for the victory.
  14. The way we've been hitting lately in these situations, its not a horrible idea. Although, with the bases loaded, thats pretty tough to do. A lot easier when the catcher has to put the tag on. Don't K Fontenot!
  15. Why? Marquis is a better bunter than Cedeno.
  16. As a Dolphins fan (and Bears fan) I'm pissed about the contract to Long. That is absolutely ridiculous. I would seriously rather just give away the pick than sign a rookie tackle to the largest deal ever for an OT. That's just ludicrous.
  17. If you're gonna warm him up, you might as well let him go out there and mow down a few batters. CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! Whiteflag time!
  18. That is why Felix will eventually reclaim his CF job. He has so much talent.
