  1. Whew, I can continue disbelieving... Yeah, he should get a hit in every AB he takes, like the rest of the team. Haha. You Pie, Hill lovers really go overboard sometimes. Nothing like a little exaggeration, no? I simply said I was an unbeliever. You went off the deep end. Not like its anything new, I am used to you guys getting super testy. I believe there are many more Pie bashers than Pie lovers. The entire team sucks right now, yet you single out Pie constantly. Then you quote yourself like somebody actually cares. Why not post the same thing about the great Reed Johnson? His .664 OPS is really something. Oh, another out by RJ. I'm just saying, give the kid a break. He has a ton of potential and has been getting inconsistent PT. If we had a solid option in CF then I'd agree with not playing Pie right now. But because we have a guy OPSing .664 (now lower) even after a red hot start as our other option, I think we should give the kid a chance. Oh...and Rich Hill lovers are looking pretty smart right now. 1) I don't post frequently enough for you to make another exaggerated statement like me calling Pie out "constantly." You may have me confused with someone else, if so, fine. 2) I don't care enough about Reed to post about Reed. I also haven't had to hear he was the greatest thing since sliced bread for 4 years either. 3) Why do they look smart? Cuz Lieber struggled in his first start of the year while Hill looked good against Minor League talent? Rough comparison, but whatever. 1) You generalized me as a "Pie lover" and even a "Hill lover" although my post didn't include Rich Hill whatsoever, so I generalized you as a "Pie basher". "Pie bashers" constantly post about their dissatisfaction with Pie. 2) If you don't want Pie to play CF, who do you want? People have had reasons to say good things about Pie. He's hit at every level, while being underage most of the time. I'm glad you judge him on a total of 235 inconsistent ABs split over last year and the start of this year, though. 3) They look smart because obviously Lieber isn't the answer. Hill not only looked good against Minor Leauge talent, but looks very good against Major League talent for all of 2007. 1) apologies for the generalization re: Hill 2) ALMOST every level. Its not the number of AB's I am looking at, its his swing. You don't have to be a genius to know its a block of swiss cheese. (Long and full of holes) 3) Hill is in his own head and is also his own worst enemy. I wish he'd figure it out, cuz I'd rather have him here as well. What level didn't he hit at? He crushed AAA pitching the past couple years. His swing does have holes and is long, but lately they have been working with him to shorten it up. Most rookie hitters struggle when they first come up. The only way for him to improve and work on his swing is by getting ABs. Since we have nobody great in CF to replace him, we might as well let him play great defense in CF and work on his swing. Maybe we get lucky and he figures things out. At worst, he hits like Reed Johnson and we figure out what we really have with Pie. As for Hill, I don't think there is any evidence he is a "headcase" like everyone claims. Yes, he walks batters, but that is simply because he doesn't have great control. I'm pretty sure he'll "figure it out" and be back soon. And we will be a better team because of it.

Oh...and Rich Hill lovers are looking pretty smart right now. Reed's sporting a nifty .645 OPS. My bad. That was his OPS before today's game began. At least Lou is realizing this and playing Pie in CF a lot more lately. Now everyone should just relax and let him play his game.

  5. Because he is not significantly better than Fontenot? Seriously...what's the big deal? I'd rather have a Cedeno (SS)/Fontenot (2B) MI than CannonArmTheriot (SS)/Cedeno (2B) MI. I'd rather have the potential help off the bench in case the game gets close enough for it to matter. Theriot is better. He's better defensively at SS than Fotenot is at 2B. Lou is down 5 runs with 6 innings to go, and now has to catch up with a lesser offense than he started the game with....and has less flexibility now off the bench that will undoubtedly see at least a couple pinch hitters and 4-5 relievers. So then your problem appears to be with Lou PH Fontenot in the 3rd inning rather than with the double switch. Or possibly both, I guess. Pretty much both. Bottom line is the Cubs are down big, and don't have as good a lineup on the field as they did to start the game. Fontenot-.844 OPS coming into today Theriot-.818 OPS coming into today Fontenot-.738 OPS in 2007 Theriot-.672 OPS in 2007 Fontenot-.759 OPS over his career Theriot-.735 OPS over his career

  8. He replaced Theriot, Cedeno moved to SS. Why was Theriot replaced? Double switch strategy. That and Cedeno is better than Theriot So the only guy in the Cubs lineup who's gotten a hit today is taken out? Yeah, because he really crushed that ball. Ramirez also has a hit.
  9. WHAT? YOU CAN'T HAVE 3 LEFTIES IN THE ROTATION!!!!111!!
  10. Because he is not significantly better than Fontenot? Seriously...what's the big deal? I'd rather have a Cedeno (SS)/Fontenot (2B) MI than CannonArmTheriot (SS)/Cedeno (2B) MI.
  11. Especially with a small bench! What does it matter if he double switches or not? Either way one of Fontenot or Theriot is out. I guess we're just lucky that Cedeno wasn't hitting 2nd and Theriot was, or Cedeno would be out of the game.
  12. Half right. I bet The-Riot is pissed right now I have no problem with it. Both players suck, but have gotten off to hot starts. It pushes the pitchers spot back a few more batters, though. Although it sucks to have Theriot's cannon out of the game and Cedeno's noodle arm at short.
  13. Saves Soto an error? Pie woulda gone Ankiel on Votto and thrown him out by 30 feet.
  14. They aren't done hitting either. Lieber is out. We're all good now.
  15. This game is not over. It's early and as good as Volquez has been this year, he is not as good as his numbers indicate. He also has issues with command at times so if we just be patient we can chip away. Sorry, just wanted to switch it up a little bit.
  16. Fontenot has been swinging a pretty hot stick this season.
  17. What the hell kind of ridiculous shift is that??? You can't even get to a routine groundball to where the 2nd baseman should be playing with a left handed hitter up?
  18. Jerry Freakin Hairston and Paul Bako went yard on you in the same inning. Think about that for a second, Lou. At least Lieber didn't walk 4 guys, though.
  19. Stop booing Cardinal fans and understand the rule (although that would probably happen at every stadium in the league)
