  1. So why does nobody want to accept the fact that the best thing for Pie could be a few weeks in Iowa? I keep hearing the arguement that hes accomplished everything he can at that level, but its not about accomplishment here, its about working against some minor league pitchers and working on mechanics. Remember Ricky Weeks last season? Sent down to AAA for a short while, came back and caught fire? Granted, he could use the experience again, but for the time, it worked wonders.
  2. You mean Wisconsin is airing the Brewers instead of the Cubs? bastards. Thats what you people get for living in that awful state.
  3. taking at least 2-3 from the D Backs would give me the feeling that the Cobs are at least starting to get back on track. However, the Cubs offense never seems to do well against these kind of rookie sensations the first time they see them. Lets just hope that we can get good Demp in there. Cards have Sheets to contend with, and a Cubs win and a Cards loss would have us...tied for 1st?!?
  4. The glove throwing wasnt the bad thing. The events leading up to the glove throwing were.
  5. I would say why couldnt Dusty have put this lineup against the Cubs, but 4 of those guys hit 6 homers off our guys.
  6. Wilkerson is 31, Mench is 30. yet their best years are behind them. pity.
  7. Im done arguening here. Ive stated my case, and I know the people of this board well enough that I wont be changing any minds, but I wont be changing mine either. I think it would be a sensible move, that may or may not happen. Either way, someones going to sign him. Mets, Philles, or someone like that.
  8. Theres no arguement, he has sucked the past 3 years, mainly do to inury, but why cant we give him a shot. Sign him to deal for league minimum, *gasp* send Felix to AAA to work on his stroke, and if Edmonds doesnt pan out, get rid of him. The fact is, if Felix doesnt pick up soon, all the NSBB posts in the world arent going to keep him from being sent down, and who would you rather have, an estblished slugger or Andres Torres or someone like that? Im sure you'll all chime in Andres Torres, but I dont agree. I can almost guarantee that while Edmonds more than likely wont be coming to the Cubs, Hendry is definitely giving it some serious thought.
  9. Offensively, can he really be worse? Im just saying, coming to his arch rivals might ignite a spark in him. Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez Fuku Soto Edmonds Derosa/Cedeno/Fontenot switching Sori and Fuku would be a better choice, but thats not going to happen, but still, that looks like one hell of a linuep.
  10. They got Brad Wilkerson too. 2 over the hill outfielders for the price of one. Go Jays!
  11. Go Brewers? Even with the ?, that did NOT feel right.
  12. Um, no, thanks. The fact is, Johnson sucks and Pie isnt ready for major league pitching. There, I said it and I dont care who jumps on me for doing so. If we can get a guy who even at his worst loved hitting at Wrigley, and for league minimum, Id be all for it.
  13. Im not expecting too much from our offense, so hopefully Kerry can keep his cool.
  14. A healthy Jim Edmonds is a very intriging possibility. The question is, will we ever see one again. I know hes several years removed from his last productive season, but still, hmmm.
  15. Whoa, I just checked the score. the Cubs arent losing. wha...what happened?
  16. nope. Im also worried about Soriano, Theriot, Lee, Ramirez, DeRosa, Johnson, Fontneot, Cedeno, Ward, Pie, Blanco, Marquis, Lieber, Howry, Eyre, Gallagher, Wood, Dempster, Lilly, and Wuertz.
  17. Id like to say I cant wait until this series is over so we can play the ice cold Padres, but they're probably saying the exact same thing.
  18. Personally, Id rather see Cotts up than Eyre. Maybe Marshall can prove himself in AAA, but with Lous mentality lately, it wont really matter.
  19. Id love to fix the rotation, however, a solid starter is tough to come by at this point in the season. Joe Blanton is the best possibly available, and Billy Beane isnt in the buisness of giving up something for nothing, so we'd have to pony up some big prospects.
  20. Your absolutely tight. Cubs dont need a second baseman at all. However, we do need a leadoff hitter, and the most available just happens to be a second baseman, and since our second basemen have been productive, but not irreplaceable, its a good fit. No, we don't yes we do.

  22. The Brewers team really just isnt all that impressive: Ryan Braun: Not sure what to make of him, could be a sophmore slump, could just be a slump now Prince Fielder: had great numbers last year, but could settle in as an Adam Dunn, or dare I say, Cecil Fielder Mike Cameron: .270 hitter, maybe 20-25 HR Corey Hart: possible the best all around player on the team, maybe a .280 20 HR guy Hardy/Weeks/Hall: all have a history of inconsistancy, with some red hot streaks. In the end, I dont see them as being major impact players in the future. Jason Kendall: He's Jason Kendall Gallardos likely out for the season, and Sheets will probably join him eventually, and the rest of their pitching staff is nothing short of dismal.
  23. After some awful playing by Luis Hernandez, the Orioles have named Freddy Bynum they're starting short stop. Remember him? Yeah, I thought you might. This suggests they're desperate for a short stop. Would they like Ryan or Ronny? I bet they would. I hate to dig up the Brian Roberts thing for the 9 millionth time, especially when its not our biggest need at this time, but this could be a good time to strike. I propose Ryan or Ronny plus Marshall or Hill for Roberts. Maybe throw in Murton or Hoffpauir and see if we can drag anything else out of them. We all know they like our old garbage: Sosa Patterson Bynum Leicaster Novoa Traschle Moore Cherry
  24. Does Lou want a Joe Dillon? I dont. If they want to send Pie down for a few weeks to work on some mechanics, thats fine, but they'll need a replacement who can play outfield. Matt Murton would be the only logical replacement.
