He's younger, cheaper, and a better option than both of those two. He'll take his lumps, but getting him experience now will pay off quite well down the road. Plus, he's good enough right now that he'll likely be a better option than Marquis and Lieber right now. Think of it like Pie and Reed Johnson, imo. I'd like to see some evidence that he's better right now, the way Pie is better than Johnson right now. His 2007, translated into MLEs, was average at AA, good at AAA and horrible at the majors. PECOTA has him roughly .2 ERA better than Marquis and about the same worse than Lieber. All in all, I'd put him in the rotation, but it's not a case of a definitively better player sitting like it is with Pie. Im not saying that hes the next Zambrano, Im saying that is he can get another few innings, he deserves another shot. He hasnt been great at the major league level so far, partially because he was used as a reliever, a role hes unfamiliar with. Granted some guys can make the transition, but for some, its tougher. It a completely different routine.
