  1. when was the last time Reed Johnson got on base without being hit by a pitch?
  2. The Diamondbacks fans are probably saying the same thing. I've seen hate for everyone ranging from Marquis to Hill that was understandable, but what's up with the hate for Gallagher? I'm not saying the guy is great or anything, but hating him at this early point in his career is kind of a head-scratcher. I don't hate him, he's just not that good. He and Gonzalez are both sub-average pitchers are this point in their careers, though neither is horrible. Everyone complais about him rotting away in the pen, well heres his chance. With the condition of the 4-5 spots in the rotation, it shouldnt be too hard of a role to win.
  3. Please dont try to steal Theriot. If you get thrown out by Backstop Barbie, you'll never be able to show your face again.
  4. This subjuest has been beaten into the ground in the Edmonds released thread, but if Johnson and Pie dont come out to play today, it my become clser to reality.
  5. With the D-Backs pitching staff, this Edger Gonzalez guy is a gift, and should be treated as such.
  6. With most teams, a 2 out walk is no big deal, but with the Cubs, it always comes back to get us.
  7. So did they pick up 3 stoners from a local Starbucks and say hey guys, want to sing the National Anthem for the Cubs?
  8. Whose numbers are those? Hill's? Looks like it could be a Zambrano line from 2-3 years ago.
  9. The Tigers were interested in Ohman and Wuertz, but then the drugs wore off.
  10. The question is, will the Brewers be willing to designate $10 million for assignment?
  11. So its going to be Sean Gallagher vs. Edgar Gonzalez now?
  12. The more I think about it, the more the most logical explanaion is that Lou could be grooming Marmol for the rotation. While I hate the idea, Marmol has been a starter in the past, and theres no other reason to put him out when hes plain not needed.
  13. don't get too confident True, we do have a tendancy of getting pwned by crappy ex-cubs. See most recently: Augie Ojeda. and Paul Bako. And Jerry Hairston. and Jason Kendall. and Todd Wellemyer. and Cesar Izturis.
  14. Sweeping the best team in baseball? The Cubs can't beat themselves :D You dont know the Cubs very well.
  15. So with Randy Johnson on the mound, it couldnt possibly be a close game, and Wuertz, Fox, or Gallagher couldnt possibly blow a close lead/worsten a close deficit to the top team in the league? Seriously, There was 0 reason not to pitch Wuertz or Fox in the 9th.
  16. A sweep against these guys would be huge, espcially going into a 4 gamer with the struggling Padres. Hopefully we can finally conquer Randy Johnson. Sure, we'd be conquering a shell of the Randy Johnson who dominated us for the past 2 decades, but I'll take it none the less. Hopefully we can go into the 9th with a huge lead so we can see Marmol again.
  17. Cant be very good for Wuertz' or Fox' confidence if the basic message is that Lou doesnt trust them with a 5 run lead.
  18. Thats the kind of idiotic agression that we love when it works, but when it doesnt, a guy like Soriano gets crucified. Still, Ill take it.
  19. That's not a fact. Its as much as a fact as the Felix Pie would be great given the chance to play full time arguement. More of a speculation.
  20. You mean Wisconsin is airing the Brewers instead of the Cubs? bastards. Thats what you people get for living in that awful state. We're working on legislation to extend the Illinois border north and evict all the Packer & Brewer fans. This ruined my plans to get some house chores done while enjoying the Cubs game. Now what? It's cloudy today too. BAH! So would I be evicted, too? I'm a Cubs and Packers fan. After October(being optimistic), or September. You should probably look into a time share.
  21. I thought it was a dumb move at the time, and I think Hendry was just in a rush to get the deal done and caved. I was always a fan of Pinto, and Nolasco, even back when he was plain old Carlos Nolasco. Also, the fact that we had Zambrano, the orgnization was very high on Hill and Guzman, and still thought Prior was going to return to form was a big factor in the deal. At the time, Pierre was one of the premier leadoff men in the league, and we probably planned on signing him to a long term deal. Not a great move, but not one that will exactly be lamented years down the road.
