  1. Remember today, when Marquis isn't pitching. Many of my happiest memories involve Marquis not pitching.
  2. Lee must be reading 5 chapters a night of How Not to Hit, by Corey Patterson.
  3. I hate to say it, but Geo has looked plain bad at the plate lately.
  4. Cut that crap out Fonz. If we dont build up baserunners early on, how the hell is the heart of the lineup supposed to line into routine double plays?
  5. I've always said the year the (Devil) Rays win a World Series before the Cubs is the year I finally give up.
  6. How come MLB.com or the Cubs official site has no mention of any of this? Dont they usually get the info pretty quickly?
  7. A fresh start with another team.
  8. Shame on all of you. Being a Cubs fan isnt about results. Its about optimism. Foolish, unrealistic optimism. We may be paying for 2008 Jim Edmonds, but we'll be getting 2003 Jim Edmonds.
  9. As I understand it he's cleared waivers therefore, no team has put in a claim meaning all Hendry has to offer is the league minimum. just because he CAN offer league minimum, doesn't mean he WILL. The teams didn't pass on Edmonds, they passed on him at his current salary. THe OP is saying that Hendry is thinking that SURELY a lot of other teams are interested in him at a reduced rate, so Hendry will outbid himself. After all, were dealing with the same guy whose paying Hank White 3.5 mil.
  10. in a major league locker room without ridicule http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080514&content_id=2698967&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb Its always joked that Ben Sheets will hit the DL with a broken fingernail, but hes been beat to the punch.
  11. Haven't you been paying attention? The Internet Baseball Genius Committee has declared Edmonds done. So it's impossible for him to be productive at this point. Can't happen. Won't happen. BEST case scenario is a swarm of locusts o'er the land. Run! Run for the hills! AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! Thats one way to put it. I just think theres a lot of over reaction going on. I doubt(and by doubt I mean hope against hope) that Lous crazy enough to insert Edmonds into the heart of the lineup, more likely in the 7 or 8 spot, and if you look up and down the rosters of national league teams, theres a lot worse 7 and 8(or in the Padres case, 3 and 4) hitters than Jim Edmonds.
  12. It was Noon, CT. They're probably working out the details as we speak.
  13. Both Cotts and Ascenio have seemed more worthy than Fox for that last spot in the pen.
  14. Im willing to listen to any proposal with the words "Marquis should be dropped".
  15. because there is seemingly nothing left for Pie to prove or accomplish in Iowa. he dominated there for two years and still struggled when given (sporadic) time with the Cubs. he needs to be given time to adjust to MLB pitching. going back down and demolishing the PCL pitchers won't accomplish anything except unnecessarily delaying his development even further. they are winning and scoring runs with almost no production in CF against RHP. there is literally no better time for them to stick with Felix and let him take his lumps and adjust. they can afford it right now. who knows if they can in September or in 2009? it is absolutely the perfect time for him to be out there. if they aren't willing to do that now, then i have to wonder if they ever will be. Everyone keeps putting up that arguement that he has nothing left to prove or accomplish. Its not about proving or accomplishing anymore. Its about getting reps, regular playing time, and confidence.
  16. This is going by rotoworld. A few days ago, The Cubs were CONSIDERING Jim Edmonds. Yesterday, the Cubs were EXPECTED to sign Jim Edmonds. Today, The Cubs WILL sign Jim Edmonds.
  17. Why does nobody seem to realise that The CUbs are not giving up on Pie? If the Cubs were giving up on Pie, they would go after Coco Crisp or Norris Hopper, not an injury prone 38 year old. Hopefully Felix will light up Iowa, and in September or whenever Edmonds or Johnson get injured, and going by their hostories, one of them will go down, Felix will be back.
  18. Does anyone remember the game in '04 or '05 When the Cubs were down pretty bad, and Scott Rolen(or maybe it was Jim Edmonds) hit a homer off of Carlos Zambrano, and the very next batter was Jim Edmonds(or maybe it was Scott Rolen), and Zambrano nailed him with a fast ball and just walked off the mound to the dug out? One of my favorite Zambrano memories.
  19. Change Ted Lilly to Jason Marquis, and consider it a done deal.
