  1. He mentions 3 guys who are free agents, yet no mention of Eric Gagne?
  2. The Astros, no question have one of the best hearts of the lineup in baeball, but theres nothing else on that team the set them apart from the rest of the pack. They threw too much money at Roger Clemens in '05 and '06 that they could have been using the build a better team, and now they're paying the price.
  3. As weird as it sounds, The Reds may be our biggest threat this season. Thers no question that they have a formidable offense, and they have finally put together a pitching staff. Harang and Volquez are a great 1-2, and Arroyo and Cueto are bound to pick up. A dark horse could be the Pirates. Gorzalany, Snell, and Duke could be a great 1-2-3 in the near future, and when on their game, Bay, McClouth, Laroche, and Nady are by no means a bad heart of the lineup, weve all seen what Freddy Sanchez can do, and Doumit looks to be a qlality player as well. The saddest thing about that team, is the highest paid player on that team by far is sitting on his couch, and probably will remain to do so unless some team gets out of their mind desperate for pitching help. Im of course speaking of the great Matt Morris. When all is said and done, The Cubs are the most complete team in the division, if not in the NL, if not in baseball. Great starting lineup, a very deep bench, and a solid all around pitching staff.
  4. I dont know why the Brewers are so feared. There really not much better than the Astros. Its looking more and more as though Braun may be the real deal, and Corey Hart looks like he could be good, but... Prince Fielder is looking like he could ultimiately be an Adam Dunn type, hit a lot of homers, and have a low average. whatever got Mike Cameron suspended made its way out of his system after the Cubs series. Weeks, Hall, and Hardy look to be average major leaguers at best Jason Kendall is Jason Kendall. After the injured Gallardo and soon to be injured Sheets, the pitching staff is dismal at best, and they dont even have a closer.
  5. At least the Brewers are losing. Ned Yost can't possibly have a job for much longer. I dont know whose more out of their mind ridiculous lately, Soriano, Berkman, or Braun.
  6. Carlos Quentin and Thome are very iffy. At this point in time, Id trade Lee for Bill Bixler, but tradiionally, Lee has always come to life in June, so I wouldnt jump ship on him, just yet.
  7. Just watch out for that Berkman kid. They say he's gonna be pretty good one day.
  8. One more guy Kerry, and he happens to be the worst starting player in baseball.
  9. Its all in the hands of Kid K now. God speed old friend.
  10. Why don't you start a thread that trashes him. I already did. Funny how when Soriano gos through a stretch like Lee is right now, he gets unmercifully bashed, but you gotta leave Lee alone.
  11. I dont know if youd call it a rule, but the win/loss system kind of gets me sometimes. A pitcher can go 4 solid innings and not et a win, but a guys can come in, blow any sized lead, and if the team regains the lead their half, that guy ets the win.
  12. Good job small balling our way to the lead. We'll need a bit more in the long run, as Jason Marquis is about as likely not to give up any more runs as I am not to over react if the Cubs lose a close one.
  13. Id say very cocky for a team that finally eeked out a win on their 11th try.
  14. Marmol's an experienced closer, he already had one career save before this season started. Every time they talk about Marmol as a closer, I think about how lights out Latroy was as a set up man, and how he fell apart once becoming closer, and hes never been the same since.
  15. Texas beats Astros 6-2 and Oswalt leaves with groin strain and faces possible DL stint.
  16. This is one Bush that we wont have to wait until 2009 to see the end of. Too political?
  17. I cant help but notice Hoff isnt in Iowas lineup. He wouldnt be on an airplane would he?
  18. Marquis usually does give us 5 good innings. The problem is, theres usually 1 horrible inning in between.
  19. A team that is in the early stages of a major rebuilding process would rather take several young prospects than A Ram or Kozuke.
  20. And why are we benching DeRosa tomorrow, who just had a day off on Thursday and has been quite hot the last 8 games he's started? plus derosa's 3 year splits against LHP are .314/.385/.509/.894. I didnt realise this guy was a lefty. Soriano Cedeno Soto Ramirez Lee Fuku Edmonds DeRosa Marcrap Edmonds can't hit left-handers, so there's no reason to put him in there against a lefty. And Theriot is so much better against left-handers than right-handers that you really shouldn't bench him against a left-hander. Not to mention that Cedeno in the major leagues has actually been better against right-handers than left-handers every single year including this one. Finding Cedeno a start should come against a right-hander, not a left-hander. I got confused for a minute there, kind of like Lou when he left in Johnson against Capps. As for first, if Lee is given a day off, it will be for Hoffpauir. I cant wait for Hoff to go 3-4 with 4 RBI and the board to be filled with Free Hoff posts.

  22. And why are we benching DeRosa tomorrow, who just had a day off on Thursday and has been quite hot the last 8 games he's started? Just trying to work Cedeno in there, and Theriot isnt going anywhere. Ronny had a great knock today. Should have been an extra baser.
  23. Soriano Theriot Soto Ramirez Lee Fukudome Cedeno Johnson Marquis Not going to happen, but a little lineup tweak would be fun.
