  1. I didnt really start paying much attention to what was going on in the minors until the past few years, probably '03-'04 ish when I became intrigued by the Angel Guzman hype and became obsessed with it. in no order, here are some name that I remember hearing about who did nothing David Kelton Jason DuBois the 2000 1st round pick Luis? Ryan Harvey Richard Lewis Nic Jackson Bobby Hill Bobby Brownlie of course theres Gary Scott and Kevin Orie Hopefully, Felix Pie, Angel Guzman, and Rich Hill dont end up in this group
  2. To anyone who watched the game today, how did Edmonds look after he hurt himself. I know he homered, but did he look OK in the outfield?
  3. 0. Lou has instructed him not to swing at anything if he comes to the plate with runners on 1st and less than 2 out. If he manages to coax a walk, more power to him.
  4. Rather than start a new thread, I'll just put it here: Whats the deal with Matt Craig? Why can't he make it past AA? Hes always put up solid numbers, but he just cant make it to Iowa. I know he has the misfortune of being a corner infielder, but he deserves at least another AAA stint.
  5. Unless someone gets injured. Crowbar-check. Now I wonder where Patterson or Cedeno would be at this hour.
  6. Kosuke RF Theriot SS Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Edmonds CF Soto C Ward DH DeRosa 2B Murton LF No more experimenting with bad players.
  7. How about the guy whose alrady been up twice and proved he could do the job both times?
  8. If they have been watching tape, they are watching the wrong one. By now he should have this corrected. You say this as if hitting major league pitching is easy. I never said that. The fact Lee leads the world in grounding into double plays should be cause for concern from your 3 hitter. There is something in his swing that is causing him to keep beating the ball in the ground. Derrek Lee needs to be hitting fly balls, not leading the world in double plays. The fact is you cant afford to have your 3 hitter hitting into double plays every time the opportunity arrises. He needs to move at least to the 5 spot until he finds his grove. Soriano-Ramirez-Lee would be one hell of a 3-4-5.
  9. It will not be Carrasco. He's right-handed and, more importantly, not on the 40-man roster. I think the most likely candidate is Piggy. He's a lefty (which I think the Cubs would definitely want to replace Eyre) and he's on the 40-man roster.Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I thought we only had 39 guys on the 40 man right now? If that's the case, then it wouldn't be an issue to add someone if needed for this kind of scenario. But, I agree, I doubt it'd be Carrasco.According to cubs.com the 40-man roster is full. I think there were 39 at one point, but one of the more recent moves (maybe the signing of Edmonds) put it back at 40. We have a handfull of guys one the 40 man who could be taken off and nobody would ever notice, like I dont know, this guy http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Adam%20Harben&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=448180 I suspect a number of guys on the 40-man could clear waivers. Harbden, Fuld, maybe Fox all could be removed. Even if they didnt clear, I wouldnt be broken hearted.
  10. Down gos Princey. Brewers lose! Cards lose! Pirates lose! Reds about to lose! Astros likely to lose!
  11. Why does Ryan Braun have to be on the Brewers of all teams? Well, at least hes not a Cardinal.
  12. It all comes down to Joe Nathan and Ryan Braun.
  13. Work your magic Mr. Nathan. Heres to nobody capitilizing on todays Cubbie Crapfest.
  14. Braun, Fielder, and Hart may be one of the best 3-4-5s in the game, and were just going to have to accept that.
  15. Uh, yeah, the fact that they're still cranking out quality starts by guys like Looper, Lohse, and Wellemyer when those other guys are gone. Thats pretty lucky. How many teams would be able to stay above water with their 3 top starter gone?
  16. Go Royals Go! Go Royals Go! Hey Chicago whattaya say Royals are gonna win today

  18. I know that the Twins won 9 or their last 10, but that the Royals were 9 for their last 10, that I did not.
  19. Sorry to sound cryptic. Anyway, after the past 2 games, its clear that we REALLY need another starter. With CC Sabathia likely staying in Cleveland, and Rich Harden not going anywhere as long as the A's are contending, AJ Burnett is the next option, but there is another, but most of you wont like it. Hint: were facing him Monday, and we'd have to be willing to bail another GM out of an idiotic contract. Yes, I do expect a barage of rage for this sugestion.
  20. If there is a pitcher we can jump on for a quick 8 runs, hes pitching right now. Not that Im expecting it, but still.
  21. Marquis is 3-0 with a 2.26 ERA vs. the Giants, and he faces them Tuesday, if that makes you feel any better.
  22. I get what people are saying about Hill but is anyone actually expecting him to pitch for us this year? He's been ruined, IMO. I wouldnt say ruined. I wouldnt expect much from him this year though.
  23. Probably not. Hes pitching tommorow, which means we should get him in game 4 of the set.
  24. with the Seans pitching the next few days, its going to be a loooooooooooooooong weekend.
