  1. There has been noise the past few days about the Indians trying to sign CC to a long term deal, which in my opinion the the smart move, especially if they have any intention of not pissing off their fan base over there debackle of a first half. As for Harden, the A's are still very much in contention, and he's their top pitcher as long as he's healthy. Billy Beane isnt going to juts send him off just for the sake of doing so. It's starting to look like Burnett might just be the top option when the time comes. Maybe Hendry should jump on him before other teams start to figure that out as well. The Blue Jays have a lot of holes to fill.
  2. I have a gut feeling if he is DLd, Mr. Hector Carrasco could make his Cubs debut. Hes a veteran who has had some quality seasons, and hes putting up decent AAA numbers at 4-1 with a 3.06. Especially with Hart on the DL and Ascanio just returning. Piggy and Chad Fox are dark horses, unless of course Jimmy makes a trade soon. Theres also Ceda and Samardzia, but I cant see them being rushed up this soon.
  3. 1. Starting Pitcher 2. Starting Pitcher 3. Starting Pitcher
  4. I guess with the DH, we can afford to be down a reliever, but the way a lot of them have been throwing lately, I dont know. Basically, Lou will be forced to go with Cotts as a loogy, and we might need to see more Wuertz than we'd like. I trust Demp for the most part, but I hope Gallagher and Marshall can step up. Having a DH means you can get by easier with one less bat on the bench, not with one less reliever in the pen. You're facing more hitters and less pitchers, so more relievers is better. You don't have any double switches due to pitching changes, so the bench doesn't get chewed as quickly. Not having Eyre for the Sox series is not good if we don't get another pitcher up. If you can get more innings out of your pitcher it can, as you dont have to worry about double switches or batting for the pitcher in general.

  6. Hoff 2-4 with a HR and a double. Meanwhile Matt Murton, Ronny Cedeno, and Mike Fontenot continue to be Matt Murton, Ronny Cedeno, and Mike Fontenot.
  7. Mr. Ascanio, your table is ready.
  8. Sounds like the type of pitcher Lou can't wait to get his hands on work until his arm falls off.
  9. Ideally, the All Star team should be based on the previous years second half performance and the current years first half performance. The problem is, most people have forgotten about the players second half performance, especially if they have a bad start to the current season. Basing on past All Star experience is pointless, or else youd have the same all start team every year until the players retire.
  10. theres supposed to be isolated and scattered T-Storms from noon all the way until morning, so we'll see what happens. If only they came yesterday.
  11. He was DLd on June 12th, so, hes eligible to come off today. Obviously, he wont be back today, but still. Has anyone heard how he's doing? Will he be starting a rehab assignment anytime soon? Lou sayd there a chance he'll be able to play in the All Star game.
  12. Unless its as a throw in in a trade for Linecum or Cain, we really dont need Lewis. Focus at the task at hand Hendry and get us a starter.
  13. That would be absolutely hilarious. I think i would make at-shirt of it and wear it when I know I'll be around a Cardinal fan. Dont you mean a half shirt? Anyway, anyone who cant accept his .998 OPS since joining the Cubs is a moron.
  14. Release him. I'm continually baffled as to why the Cubs can't seem to grasp that concept. With a year and a half left on his deal? As I understand the rules, if he is claimed by another team we will have to pay the lion's share of his contract. The only way to get out from under his ocntract in full is to trade him or for him to clear waivers such that he can be released. You have it backwards. If he IS claimed by another team on waivers then that team is responsible in full. If he is NOT claimed and clears waivers then the Cubs are responsible in full unless he signs with another team after being released. Then the new team would be responsible for a prorated share of the minimum salary and the Cubs would be on the hook for the remainder. That's what happened with Edmonds signing with the Cubs after clearing waivers and being released by the Padres. Are the Padres paying Jimmy or the Cards?
  15. At least we dont have to face Danks again. So what is it, Contreres, The Silent Asasin, and Buerhle? Whats are rotation looking like? Demopster, Gallagher, Marshall, or are they going to plug in Lilly a day early.
  16. Lets just pretend something awful was said. They need to light another fire like they did before the last series.
  17. I was thinking the same thing. They werent supposed to be anywhere at the beginning of the year, not that the Sox were, but now, whatever the Sox do, they just cant pull away from them.
  18. It's clear hes just not a quality major league starter, and we will need to fill his spot. If Rich Hill can get his act together wherever the hell he is, then he could be the guy, but if not, Jim needs to get on the horn with Toronto or whoever.
  19. hes officially been chased on waivers. Dont even think about it Hendry.
  20. I was thinking the same thing. At least the Tigers can allow us to laugh at this debackle and it can give our GM more of a sense of urgency to get us that starter. hint:theres one who has stated he wants to come to the Cubs on a team with 0 chance at contention.
  21. were almost in double grand slam range! Go Cubs!
  22. The Orioles and Rays are signing a petition to join the NL as we speak. At least we dont have to face Danks this weekend.
  23. Maybe its time to crank up the search for a new starter.
  24. me too, I got in a "argument" with a friend calling him a scrub who is over performing. I hope he continues to prove me right. [knock on wood] Ludwicks one of those guys who I would like to see succeed, just not with the Cardinals.
  25. So why is Murton getting the Hoffpauir treatment here? Not that Im a hugeMurton fan, but id rather him than Fontenot or Cedeno. I know they want E-Patt in there to lead off, but why not try him at 2nd for a game and put Murt in left?
