  1. Lee turns 33 this September. Really? Huh, I thought he was older. I guess he has that Dave Roberts/Tony Clarke you mean hes not in his 40's? look to him.
  2. Maybe the Muts can actually live up to their hype and payroll and take care of them during the week, and we'll take it from there next weekend.
  3. The one glimmer of hope for me tonight is that this will obviosly be Marshalls last chance to impress in the majors for a while, so hes going to want to give his all and leave an impression, if not for the sake of making it back to Chicago for the sake of turning some heads in other organizations.
  4. Its good to know that Ben Sheets is still human.
  5. Its not whether or not he can handle third, its will we need a 3rd baseman any time soon. More than likely, we wont be seeing him until maybe 2011,or late 2010 if he excels through the minors, but as long as Ramirez is producing, theres no reason not to keep him in town. He just turned 3o, and if he stays healthy, he could be a star for the next 5-6 years. Derek Lee, on the other hand, is 35, and I woulnt expect him to be resigned when his contract expires in a few years.
  6. Should the organization consider moving Josh Vitters to a different position? Weve dropped the ball on a lot of "sure thing" prospects, and this kid seems too talented to make the same mistake. I know its very early in his career, but I have a feeling he could be the real deal, plus, since hes so young, this would be a good time to teach him a new position. Ramirez contract expires in 2011, with a no trade clause effective until 2010 and a mutual option for 2012. Vitters probably wouldnt be ready for the majors until 2010 at the absoulte earliest, but once he is ready, why cant we keep him and Aramis? RF could be a good place to try him, maybe even 1B. After years of dissapointing prospects and wasted draft picks, The Cubs are do for our Ryan Braun or Albert Pujols.
  7. Bedard and Burnett are probably more realistic targets than any of those.
  8. Does anyone else think that maybe Lou shoul just go back to the lineup that did so well before things stated going south? Just put Patterson in at leadoff and hope he doesnt do any more damage at defense, and go from there. Patterson Theriot Lee Ramirez Fukudome Soto Edmonds/Johnson when he comes back DeRosa P
  9. That is factually correct. They have not lost 4 straight at home. So if Im at my friends house who happens to live in my town, Im at home too by ESPNs standards.
  10. As long as Ive been a Cubs fan, Ive never been quite this sure of a loss. I suppose that would make a win a pleasent surprise here.
  11. Agreed. This is defintely a low point to the season, but the pieces will be coming back together soon. While I feel that The Cards and Brewers are capable of catching us at one point, I cant see either of them running away with anything. It may be the year, but it wont be easy.
  12. I get that feeling too, but how many times did we all have it last year?
  13. We start to get our players back when the Cardinals series rolls around though. We really dont need an all star team to beat the Giants. The only guy Im really worried about there is Linecum. Matt Cain rocked us last year, but hes not doing so hot this year. Hes not doing bad at all, but hes beatabe. And then theres Zito. Last season, The Cubs were the only team who didnt have him figured out last year, but hopefully theyve watched some video between then and now. As for the Brewers, the only way Id be really worried about them is if they managed to land Sabathia.
  14. We really need to take 3 from the Giants. I can almost guarantee a loss tommorow, and the Cards are next, and they always play us hard.
  15. I hope the Brewers and Cards do win tonight. Maybe this team needs a few others breathing down their neck to light a fire.
  16. The fact is we really need to get the band back together, and bullpen help might be becoming as much of a need as a starter.
  17. While I do think the Cubs will make the playoffs, I'll be less than shocked if they fall out of first at one point, possibly before the break.
  18. The bottom has definitely dropped out of the Cobs. Id be thrilled with a 3-7 road trip at this point.
  19. Please try not to be a fake rally. The technical difficulties are annoying enough.
  20. We only have 1 in the pen, and I dont want to see him any time soon.
  21. If were going to strike, nows the time. Their pen just gets tougher.
  22. Hes still in huh. I guess its never too early to destroy a kids arm.
