  1. Yes But not for us. Yes, we still have pick 47 today I guess I just took this guy's word for it.
  2. Almost none. There's little doubt in my mind that The Cardinals will draft him.
  3. I suppose if ever there was a good night for everyone other than the Javyless I-Cubs to be postponed, it's draft night.
  4. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/06/astros-designate-matt-dominguez-for-assignment.html He's not very good and we have nowhere to put him, but I figured it was somewhat notable.
  5. the real problem is that he sucks Yeah, he is basically Coghlan with a much, much better glove at this point. I'll take Coghlan's bat with a much, much better glove.
  6. Looks like he threw a few less than stellar EXT ST innings on 6/6, which I believe was their final game. http://www.thecubreporter.com/06062015/giants-rally-edge-cubs-riverview#more
  7. Arrieta looks like a frat boy photobombing marketing's night out.
  8. We're fun, right? We're loads of fun. Not like those Cardinals who are always...well, you know.
  9. Seeing as there doesn't seem to be anything overly exciting likely to be there at #9, I was kind of sort of thinking in terms of taking Aiken there and hoping he'll sign for slot and then go overslot happy in the other rounds. It's not like it would be our biggest waste of a top 10 pick this decade.
  10. Most "go for it" trades tend to be viewed poorly in retrospect (the Indians Colon for Lee/Sizemore/Phillips trade comes to mind), but in this instance, I don't fault the idea of what Beane did (trading his top guy for arms to make an early push to try and make a run), but I do question if his targets where the best choices to be giving up Russell. Of course, he bounced back to do the Cespedes for Lester trade to get his TOR arm. It's been a fascinating year of moves for them. Was fairly intrigued with what they did this winter, but as with baseball, you can't plan for everything. Keep in mind this was early July, and the market had yet to take shape. At the time, Shark was looking as good as any pitcher in the league, and Hammel wasn't too far behind.
  11. Since that 3-9 start to May that had everyone running for the razors, we're 15-10, including 12-6 vs. >.500 teams (KC, Nats, Mets, Pirates, SD.)
  12. He would've cost us Kris Bryant No. Just CJ Edwards, Neil Ramirez, Justin Grimm, and Mike Olt. And as nice of a return as we ended up with for Garza, not to mention 2.5 very good years, I'd give it all up for that 20/108 BB/K, 1.84 ERA, 0.96 WHIP over 83 innings to go along with Lester, Arrieta, Hammel, and Hendricks?
  13. I really wish we had Chris Archer. Like, a lot.
  14. Beats the [expletive] out of a wrist injury I guess.
  15. That's fascinating. I don't know what to read into that. There is the fact that Lopez and Teagarden are at AAA, so perhaps Davis is working in the OF to increase his versatility. That said, one does wonder if this is going to lead to a mid-season Schwarber call-up to AAA. Davis has been a quietly solid prospect over the past few years, just not one who's going to stand in the way of Schwarber. This being said, with Schwarber's inevitable promotion, they want him to continue to get regular playing time. My guess is that Davis becomes an OF/3rd C, Lopez backup C, and Teagarden as the odd man out.
  16. Even if he ends up Mark Reynolds with 20 home runs instead of 30-40 but plus defense, that makes him a valuable asset. And bat him 7th with Russell, Rizzo, Bryant, Schwarber, and Soler 2-6 and Castro 8, that makes one hell of a lineup, though be it a bit righty heavy.
  17. Why the [expletive] are you so negative? Every post is like a damn obituary. Enjoy the fact the Cubs have some talent and are winning half their games. Dammit. More importantly, this has more to do with the Cardinals refusal to lose than anything else. They've lost three games in a row once. They've lost 2 games in a row 6 times, the last of which was 3 weeks ago. This isn't to say that they're going to keep up that pace, just that the distance between them and us (and the rest of the division) is a testament to them, not against us.
  18. As baffling as that trade still is to me, when you think in terms of the long haul, while we still come out the clear winner, it's wasn't that awful for the others involved. The A's should have ended up running away with their division on the heels of that trade. Billy knew that if he chose to, he could flip Shark for a solid return in the Winter. And he did end up with a very solid young SS who's under control for another 5 years. Even the White Sox, if they have any sense, should be able to get something of value for Shark. He's been inconsistent to say the least, but the K's are still there.
  19. Is that like an alternate user name? IE dcvalpo/CubsGM/alfonsosoriano?
  20. Random question: did Jurickson Profar die?
  21. your boy castro hit a double with 2 outs and coghlan had a single to knock him in. that last at bat castro is the good castro. he needs to do that more often and stop trying to hit home runs. Wait, I thought you didn't watch from 2008/09-2014. How do you know what the good Castro looks like? http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.48825!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/gallery_1200/fidel-castro-meets-school-children-1959.jpg
  22. DSL with 11 walks in their 13-3 loss. That feels unusual. The big league team could go a week without 11 walks.
  23. Judging by what he's been doing all season, I can't wait to see what his huge tear looks like. ETA: Ok, that just sounds wrong.
