  1. Pretty much anyone. Then I am wrong and I apologize.
  2. Why? Ask every manager since the dawn of organized baseball. 1. Good on base guy with speed 2. Solid hitter with some speed/OB and/or bunting ability. 3. Best pure hitter 4. Best power hitter 5. Next best who bats from opposite side of 4 6. Next best who bats from opposite side of 5 7-8 and so on 9 pitcher He's had his flashes. Now isn't one of them. This being said, I have to wonder how much of that has to do with batting between the pitcher and Fowler, who's bat' has also been south of serviceable lately.
  3. Indeed, but may be even more tantalizing to envision their line-up with him at catcher. I agree on some level. But as bad as we need offense, and seeing as we're in the thick of contention, how detrimental would it be to his long term development as a catcher to have him play LF for half a season and put him back behind the plate come spring? It's not like he's ever been expected to be Yadier Molina behind the plate. The hope was to be a serviceable catcher with a monstrous bat. And right now, we need that monstrous bat.
  4. Joke. Serious. Who the [expletive] can even tell anymore. The whole place has gone bipolar. The End. But probably not. Because Nuts & Gum.
  5. Alberto Almora out, Reinaldo Almora Jr. in. Is this new, or am I just the last to hear of it?
  6. The wizardry of Maddon has been a blast. And has at times worked. But maybe if we were to go a bit more consistent and traditional we might score some more runs. 7. I did. Like 3 weeks ago when it died. And then it was redirected because a guy on the television box said something.
  8. Of course we all know that Billy Beane has been eyeing Richard and Rondon for quite some time. Josh Reddick, here we come!
  9. Meanwhile, Edwin Jackson and Travis Wood have just come to terms with the fact that they'll never start another game for the Cubs.
  10. Because that's precisely how they should base their decisions. And if this is truly a concern to you, I'd be willing to bet that when the official mid-season rankings come out, we have at least Schwarber and Torres in the top 25-50 and Edwards and McKinney in the top 100, and any of Underwood, Johnson, Almora, Happ, Jimenez, Zagunis, and Vogelbach could potentially check in as well, with Sands, Steele, Cease, and DeWees as possibilities for next year's rankings.
  11. If there's anybody who can read Korean, I'd love to know what the article has to say.
  12. More likely that both were named after Musketeer.
  13. FWIW, there had been some degree of talks involving Papelbon. It wouldn't shock me if a guy like this got wind of it and posted it as a thing. If it did go down, he broke the news first; if not, he still attracted a ton of traffic to his blog.
  14. Here's to a .500 road trip vs. a pair of >.500 teams.
  15. And in related news, [expletive] you, letter J.
  16. Are we already at the point where it's basically useless for Schwarber to even be in the minors hitting-wise? He's already overall more advanced than Bryant was at this time last year, which is almost unfathomable. [expletive] MLB and their dumb ass DH rules. As much as the big league club needs offense, I'm wondering if calling up in hopes of being anything north of a disaster in left outweighs the benefit of leaving him in Iowa to become an almost serviceable catcher.
  17. http://www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx?draft=2015int&type=0&pos=all&sort=0,d He has the Cubs signing the following players, with a projected bonus: 18. Aramis Ademan, SS, Dominican Republic - $2,000,000 23. Christopher Martinez, 3B, Dominican Republic - $1,500,000 21. Yonathan Perlaza, SS, Venezuela - $1,200,000 31. Jonathan Sierra, RF, Dominican Republic - $1,200,000 35. Miguel Amaya, C, Panama - $1,200,000 39. Anderson Amarista, RHP, Venezuela - $1,200,000 41. Yunior Perez, RHP, Dominican Republic - $650,000 NR Luis Diaz, SS, Dominican Republic - $350,000 He has the Dodgers signing Lucious Fox for $5.5 million (!) and doesn't have a team yet for Cuban defector Julio Martinez. So he has them signing a whole bunch of "good" prospects but not in on any of the elite? That seems pretty cool to me. It's like waking up on Christmas morning to a stocking full of Ewoks, Droids, and maybe Bosque which is cool, but it's still OK to hope that gramma gets us the Falcon tonight. And I don't know about Lucious Fox, but he sounds like he should be played by Samual L. Jackson.
  18. Can't wait to dust off "Aram-A-Bomb."
  19. [tweet]https://twitter.com/danielvogelbach/status/616448300472864768[/tweet] Cryptic much?
  20. #whataboutthe5gamesyoulost Anytime you go through a losing streak, that first W to break the cycle is a big one. And while a 5 game streak is relatively tame, being over a 6 day period makes it feel longer, it's magnified by the fact that 3 of them were at the claws of our arch nemesis. Now if Rizzo, Bryant, and Russell could break out of their little slumps, that would be helpful. Rizzo, Bryant, Russell over the past 6- Rizzo .190/.280/.286 Bryant .235/.364/.294 Russell .143/.182/.190
  21. Gleybar has been not only very good, but also very consistent all season long. I know he's only 18 (giggity,) but perhaps he's ready for the next level. And it's nice to see Charcer Burks turning it back on after a fairly long slump.
