  1. Gathright is going to make the team. As long as Miles can play short stop and 3b from time to time, Gathright might be the best thing for the team. Between he, Taguchi, and German, their bats seem to be similar. However, Gathrights amazing speed is a great asset to have and when chosing between 3 mediocre at best bats, that could be the deciding factor. If Lou was looking for a better offensive palyer, he would have gone with Fox or Snyder, depending if he wanted a lefty or a righty, but with them both out of the running, its clear hes looking for other weapons. To be honst, Im not sure any of the 3 are any better of an option than Sam Fuld, who is at that age when its time to either give him a shot or let him go to another team who he might stand a chance with. Fuld in 28 ABs .250/.364/.500 2 HR Gathright in 45 ABs .244/.358/.244 7SB So in 38 ABs .263/.404/.368
  2. I remember hearing on rhe radio yesterday that todays the day that their supposed to decide who makes the cut, at least as far as pitching goes.
  3. Peavy has about the same chance of being a Cub by opening day as I do. If anything happens, it will be around July at the earliest.
  4. Trade Kosuke to the White Sox for whatever we can get and re sign Pretty Boy Edmonds.
  5. Eh, Im satisfied. Granted, we lost, but it was blown by a couple of guys we probably wont see again until September at the very earliest, but Demp did OK, and the offense did its thing.
  6. Sounds like one of those pointless deals Hendry likes to do around the waiver deadline, IE Matt Lawton/Craig Monroe/Steve Traschle
  7. Thats different Miles is a career journeyman type of player. Maybe he'll give us an empty batting average as they say, but thats about it. As for Hoff, I think more and more people are beginning to accept that hes more than just a fluke. Hes had nice minor league numbers the past few years. He dominated last spring training. Hes dominating this spring training. He dominated the PCL last year, and he did pretty well for himself in his time in the bigs. Im not saying that hes Albert Pujols, but I am saying that he will be a solid major league ball player, probably a .270 AVG with a .800+ OPS and 20+ HRs if he ever gets the chance to be a full time player.
  8. The awesome thing is, when I was on the way home, I turned on the radio just i time to hear Hoffs 3 run shot, and now I just turned on the TV just in time to see it. When he came to bat, I felt like young Biff in Back to the Future 2.
  9. No, that's all next season in a conspiracy to draft Bryce Harper in 2011. Too bad they couldnt have done it last year to get us Strasburg.
  10. Jim Hendry aquires a well past his prime ex Cubs at the waiver deadline for no good reason other than that Hes bored. All Cubs main starters win at least 15 games Cubs never aquire Jake Peavy Cubs entire starting lineup voted to all star team No major injuries to Cubs players Milton Bradley wins MVP Cubs win World Series Andre Dawson voted into the Hall of Fame
  11. After watching todays game, I wonder if Chad Fox has a chance to enter the mix. His stats have looked good all ST, but today, I watched him for the first time, and he looked sharper than Ive seen him in either of his last CUbs stints. After a rough start, Vizcaino is pulling it together, and Guzman has been hit or miss. Gaudin has been brutal, and its beoming the assumption that Shark will end up in Iowa to work some things out.
  12. Cubs win 9-4. Chad Fox is looking pretty damn good. I wonder if he'll give some of those other guys a run for their money.
  13. I think I am more and more for Koyie Hill as a backup. He has a slightly better bat than Bako, and while Bako is the better defensive ctcher, its not like hes a Hank White behind the plate. If Koyie cant cut it, we could easily scrape up another backup just as good as Bako. Aside from backup catcher, looks like were down to Gathright, Taguchi, and German for that final spot.
  14. Betemit Ks, threat over. Z will probably get 1 more inning to qualify for the win, and thats about it.
  15. Sox score 2 on a ground rule. Z seems to be losing his command here.
  16. Bases loaded with 2 out. Hopefully Z can get out of it, and Gaudin, Vizcaino, and Patton can all get an inning and plead their cases.
  17. Soriano hits into a DP, inning over. I think Im done updating unless something spectacular or horrible happens.
  18. Z scores 1 run on a fielders choice, and another scores on an error. 9-0, 1 out.
  19. Miles with a single Theriot with a single, Miles to 2B Hill walks bases juiced, 0 out. here we go again. Here comes Z
  20. Bradley with a nice diving catch. Always scary to see him leave his feet though. 2 out, 1 on.
  21. Ram ks as well. Nice inning for Carrasco.
  22. Wow, that was quick. I didnt even see the 3rd batter.
