  1. The guy has power, certainly more than Paul Bako and Hank White. Granted he hasn tproven he can hit in the majors, but unlike Bako, he hasnt proven that he cant. I know he plays multiple positions, however poorly at all of them, but could it really hurt to give him some reps behind the plate during spring training, especially the early stages? He could be another power bat off the bench if he could play a semi competant catcher. Could he really be that much worse than Barrett?
  2. Nice to see more of the full time players in there together, of course minus Geo and Kosuke. O course Im sure that by the 4th or 5th the Richie Robnetts and Darwin Barneys will be in there.
  3. I dont know if we'll ever truely find out about Patton. I know Lou seems to like him and all, but as a Rule 5, if he doesnt stay on the active roster, he goes back to whoever we got him from, and unless someone like Gaudin or Vizcaino really look like crap the next few weeks, I dont think he has a roster spot.
  4. I know what hes not doing, and thats playing professional baseball.
  5. yup, thats the guy.
  6. Meh, it has been painful lately, vut Im pretty confident that once the team is whole, the offense will pull it together, and the pitchers getting rocked are mostly guys who will start the season, and probably spend the majority of it in Iowa.
  7. The way theyve been penny pinching this off season aside from Bradley, Id be shocked if they dished out any more money for a luxury, especially when they already have Babe Bako and Ty Hill behind him. If they were to mak any pickups before the sale is completed, it would be for a lefty reliever of a bargain starter like Pedro or Shilling.
  8. If Dusty were still here, believe that Pudge would be our opening day catcher and Geo would be on his way to Iowa.
  9. Seems like a theme Cubs down, by 1 or 2 going intot he 8th. Some crap reliever lets the other team score a few runs. next inning, Cubs stage a fake rally that just falls short, but would have been the win had said crap reliever not given up the 8th inning runs.
  10. No thread means I get no updates, so hopefully someone will bite. Milton Bradley in the house. LA Dodgers Kemp, CF Wolf, P Loney, 1B DeWitt, SS Ausmus, C Mientkiewicz, 3B Paul, RF Jones, M, LF Hu, 2B Chi Cubs Miles, 3B Theriot, SS Lee, 1B Bradley, RF Hoffpauir, LF Scales, 2B Hill, K, C Gathright, CF Dempster, P
  11. Hopefully if he keeps it up throughout ST, the Sox will give him the opportunity that we never would have.
  12. Im hearing that if the r and r doesnt fix it by May, he may need surgery, which could cost him the season. In this case, it could be the White Sox chance to move Old Man Konerko, and the Yanks can move Teixara to third. Adrian Beltre and Hank Blalock are other 3Bs whose teams have been unsuccesfully shopping and could finally get the chance. Recently aquired Orioles Ty Wiggington and Aubrey Huff could also be options when the team is mathamatically eliminated in early-mid June. Who knows, maybe The Natspos could see it as an opportunity to move Adam Dunn and stock the farm system, as they wont be going anywhere throughout the duration of Dunns contract. And of course theres always Garrett Atkins.
  13. I dont know about that. Gathright hopefully has Pierres ceiling, the differende being Juans long since hit it, and has flopped back to the ground. They're both poor mens Willie McGee anyway.
  14. More like they better have some room in their stomachs for the salary they'll have to eat to move him. I wouldnt be surprised at all if some teams showed interest. The man can still run like Hayes, but he hits like Howry. The White Sox could be a decent fit. With all of the aging, slow injury prone power bats they have, an aging sppedster could fit the bill, especially if he can play CF and they finally give up on White Corey Patterson aka Brian Anderson.
  15. With the news that Dave Roberts just got released by the Giants, and he can be had for the 400k minumum, thats going to make it all that much harder to trade Pierre when they can get a similar aging speedster for next to nothing.
  16. And it will take him how long to snap on Orton or whatevr crap QB we have?
  17. What I like about them, similar to us is that you dont have any easy outs in aleague where you dont have many powerhourse type of teams. Even with us, the 7-8 spots a question marks where we reallydont know what to expect from Fontenot and Fukudome. Look at most teams, and their 7-8 guys, you have your easy out type of hitters. With the Dodgers, the 7-8 guys would likely be guys like Blake, Loney, and Hudson, who would be 5-6 type hitters on a lot of teams.
  18. Seriously, these guys are stacked Seriously, the Dodgers are going to have a stacked lineup SS Furcal 2B Hudson RF Ethier LF Manny CF Kemp C Martin 1B Loney 3B Blake Not a bad rotation either Billingsly Kuroda Kershaw Wolf Schmidt(if healthy) Bench Pierre DeWit Lorretta Mientkiewicz Bullpan leaves something to be desired, but damn, these guys look good.
  19. If we wanted an offensively inept backup middle infielder, we never should have parted with Ronny Cedeno, or Cesar Izturis or Jose Macias or Neifi Perez or Rey Ordonez. Id just assume give Koskie or Rivas a chance. Even if Crosby was a slight step up from any of the afore mentioned, Beane isnt going to part with him for nothing, so this is a bad idea waiting to happen.
  20. Caridad to pitch the 9th for us. Of course knowing MLB scoreboard, the game probably ended 15 minutes ago.
  21. Randy Wells pitched a perfect 8th according to scoreboard. He looked good for what we saw of him last year.
  22. Offensively he has done all he can do, but he is going to have to show he can play multiple positions (3B, 1B, LF, RF) with at least average D to make the team. This I realize. I don't think he makes the squad, but should be an adequate midseason injury replacement. Like the power off the bench. Didn't Fox go unselected in the Rule5 Draft this year? Fox has always put up nice numbers in the minors, but not been able to produce in the majors in his limited opportunities. The problem with being on a "win now" team for guys like Hoff, Fox, Dubois, and the recently departed Kroeger is the organization will chose to go the free agent route than give young guys on the job training at the big league level. And that's fine with me as I don't see Jake Fox as anything more than a poor man's Eric Hinske. He does seem to be a solid late inning RH PH if needed though. I really think that these types of guys could have some success at the big league level if they were on a team that were going to give them the opportunity as regular players. However, we dont have a team that will do that. These are guys who would be best suited as DHs or spot starters. Believe me, every minor league system has a few of these guys.
