  1. 3 run lead. OK, whose job is it to alert the sniper in case Neal Cotts ends up on the mound at some point?
  2. Too bad Soriano looked like Chris Gwynn...you know, cause Chris Gwynn wasnt very good...ah, forget it.
  3. They wanted to trade Kouz to make room for Heddy(Thats Headly), so if a 3B were to be included, it would be Kouz.
  4. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090526&content_id=4960488&vkey=allstar2008&fext=.jsp Remember what Cubs fans did last year in the All Star voting?seems like Brewers fans have taken the idea this year, and since most of them dont have jobs, they can vote all day and all night. I cant disagree with Braun and Fielder, and even Weeks had he not gotten injured, but Hardy(over Hanley???), Hall(over Zimmerman???), and especially Kendall have no business on the All Star Team.
  5. Good. Id JUST AS SOON retract that statement. Screw Miles and the horse he rode in on.
  6. I have a rock that repels tiger attacks. I picked it up ten years ago and a tiger has never attacked me in that time. Want to buy it? How much for the rock?
  7. Has any team even taking a flyer out on Rex Grossman yet?
  8. Its got to be at the point by now that Cotts is more shocked than anyone that hes still on this team.
  9. So that pretty much sums up Neal Cotts, minus the throwing strikes part.
  10. I don't know. I'd have to think long and hard about that one. Percivals on the DL too. Maybe if we offer Heilman, we can get Price out of it.
  11. Hes just one of those guys whose been with the organization for so long its time to poop or get off the pot. Theres no guarantee he'll do anything or worth, or even be an upgrade over Cotts, but Cotts is clearly done for. 2005 is 4 years ago now, and he hasnt done anything of worth since. Just give Mathes his Starbucks and see what he can do. At least Mathes can get an audition long enough for Harden to come back,a nd if that fails, go with the Wells as starter/Marshall to the pen until something else materializes.
  12. No, no it wouldn't. I know you're an optimist but let's be real. This team hasn't won a playoff game together. I think it's time to rebuild and build up our farm system. If someone offers great prospects for one of our players and we continue to look like we have this week, you take the deal in a heartbeat. It's time to rebuild and build a world series champion. Come on. Do you honestly think this team is capable of winning a World Series? It depends on what team you're talking about. Are you talking about the team that has Fontenot playing 3B or Ramirez? Are you talking about the team that has 3-4 regulars struggling to get above .200 or the team that has Lee, Soto, Fontenot, and Bradley hitting close to what's expected of them? Obviously the team that on the field right now, hitting and pitching the way they are, has no chance of making the playoffs (let alone winning the WS). Whats the point of rebuiling? I understand getting rid of guys who will be free agents next year(Harden, Johnson, Heilman) if were out of it when the time comes, but getting rid of Lilly makes no sense. Getting rid of Lee makes less sense considering wed probably get next to nothign in return and still end up picking up most of the 2010 salary. Dempsters just got a fresh 4 years deal, which wed probably be paying the bulk of for the next 3 2/3 years and and whatever wed get in return wouldnt be worth it. The fact of the matter is, we wouldnt get enough salary relief to sign solid replacements, and the guys in the minors were counting on wont be ready until Lee and Lillys contracts are up anyway. If were out of it in July of next season, then I could see guys like Lee, Lilly, and Bradley traded, but not this year.
  13. The Cubs don't have any company in terms of their futility. They're in a league of their own. As a team, yes, as far as fan bases, no. You're average Indians or Giants fan has yet to experience a World Champinship either, and their probably just as frustrated. Same goes for fans of those teams who have never won a Series, or those who have never even been there.
  14. He didnt have much to chose from. It was either put out Ascanio, who barely escaped disaster the ining before or either Cotts, Heilman, or Patton. He had to save Guz for the 8th at the off chance we had the lead by then. Mrs. Marmol screwed us over.
  15. Just get Lee some damn Day Quil and put him on the field. We may not be that good of a team, but were not that bad of a team. Just beat the Pirates, and would it kill you to put a fastball in Freddy Sanchezes rib cage? Who knows, maybe it will riccochet off and get Cotts right in the elbow.
  16. Yeah, then it's "Wait till Next Year" time. Or else "Wait Till Vitters, Castro, Thomas, Samardzjia, and Jackson are Ready for the Majors" time.
  17. I can't even articulate how frustrating this is. Especially when you take into accoun the fact that Z just came back from a baserunning injury and has been knwon to do things like break a bat over his knee. Not a smart move.
  18. No, he's going on Wednesday. To complete the sweep and 10 game losing streak? Then the awesomeness resumes with a 4 game set vs. the team with the best record in baseball.
  19. Time to make examples of guys. Cotts should be first on the list, and the take your pick between Freel and Miles.
  20. You could be in a state of shock and disbelief leading to lack of emotion, as Lou is.
  21. The season officially ends when were swept by the Pirates in our own house.
