  1. Remember Mark Hollimon? I just thought I randomly bring that up.
  2. The Dodgers are this year what the Cubs were last year. Ill be happy to take 1 game from them.
  3. Could this be a good time for the Mariners to sell high on Russ Branyan? Traditionally, seller want to wait until July to move their impending free agents to get max value, but with an enigma like Branyan, whose just as likely, if not more so to go back to being Russ Branyan as he is to continue his pace. At this point, they could get some decent prospects or major league ready players for him, but if he has an awful June, the most theyd be able to get is some low level prospects or some teams equivalent of JR Mathes. Im just saying.
  4. better than braun? =P~ He'll probably make some AL team very happy, but I dont know about that.
  5. I dont know what kind of pitching prospects the Cards have, so Colby Rasmus and/or Brett Wallace might have to be involved there. Still, Id rather they not have Carpenter, Peavy, and Wainwright as there top 3.
  6. Hell of an inning for Greg Reinhard. 0 IP, 5 ER 4 hits 2 BB. Sent his ERA from 2.22 to 3.81.
  7. True, but we've been willing to give at bats to Aaron Miles all year. Why can't or couldn't we find a spot for Uggla? I don't like giving ABs to Aaron Miles and though Uggla is far superior, I don't think he'd be worth what Florida would likely ask in return. Well that's the kicker I guess, but it sounds like they want to move him. At least according to MLB and ESPN, it might not cost a ton to get him. If it didn't cost a lot I'd think about it, but it's hard to give up young players when Durham is sitting for free (in terms of prospects) on the free agent market. If they had any sense, Durham would be in the middle of a minor league stint as we speak.
  8. Interesting that they they have the Pirates better than the Astros. Maybe Hendry can try pilaging one or two of these teams.
  9. Theres really no point in discussing the pieces of the deal at this point. The Sox deal showed us that we could make that happen real easy. Its out of Hendrys hands now, and the big deal is going to have to go through.
  10. The game's also on MLB Network. And, if anyone can answer, the Steve Stone photos aren't real, are they? They're Photoshopped, right? Keep telling yourself that
  11. Im not, but Shark probably is, and since, he has a full NTC, thats the only guy who needs to be against it. Yeah, the NTC was the only way we could talk him out of playing football. I don't think there's a chance he would accept a trade. I suppose it couldnt hurt to ask though. San Diego might be a good environment for him. Padres are more likely to put him in the rotation than we would.
  12. Im not, but Shark probably is, and since, he has a full NTC, thats the only guy who needs to be against it.
  13. After 2006, it was a need for guys who could play baseball
  14. You're almost certainly right. They might give a little for Wells, though, if he continues to be pretty good at the ML level. Certainly not to build a trade around, but I could see them as a respectable throw in.
  15. Did Andres Blanco kick your dog or something? We get it. You don't like Andres Blanco. The horse is dead already replace kick with sucks, replace your with at, replace dog with baseball and you've got your answer.
  16. Thats true, but if they plan on promoting someone, wouldnt they rather the one who is experiencing some success? The other 4 have been awful.
  17. From what I've heard, it's not his arm that's the problem. It's his glove. Buy him a new glove. problem solved :D)
  18. If we're giving Marshall (which we'd probably have to) I wouldn't want to give Cashner. The Marshall/Jackson duo is probably similar (though a bit less) to what the Sox were giving and Cashner is worth way more than Kouzmanoff. I might do Marshall, Jackson and 2 PTBNLs, but others have made good points about his salary giving us issues. I might throw in a Randy Wells or Jake Fox to get Kouz thrown in, but that's about it. Jake Fox does the Padres 0 good unless they plan to flip him over to an AL team. Can you imagine him trying to patrol that PetCo outfield? Yikes. I suppsoe maybe a Wells/Stevens/Hart/Atkins/Reinhard/Caridad throw in would suffice.
  19. Maybe he could stop talking and start asking what the Indians want for him.
  20. Welcome to the board, but we really dont have a legit in house option. If Fox would miraculously work, that would be great, but the odds are against it. The in house option is moving Font back and forth between 2nd and 3rd and autition a bunch of career minor leaguers.
  21. Or perhaps move it to the Cubs 3rd baseman thread or one of the Jake Fox threads.
  22. Hopefully it lights a fire under Hendry to try and get approval of it from the Trib/Ricketts and to re-start things with Towers. Like it was already mentioned it gives guys like Ascanio, Wells and Patton a little more time up to prove something and maybe makes 1 of them a little more attractive in a trade. The only thing that would "light a fire" under Hendry would be a 20-foot tall pile of donuts. Hopefully the fact that his injury plagued team looks like a middle of the pack team in a middle of the pack division but is 1 or 2 available players away from a significant improvement could also light said fire.
