  1. Scales was only sent down because of the flu because we needed the roster spot. Andres Blanco will be called up from Iowa to be the backup middle infielder, making Freel the starting 3B by default.
  2. Any idea whose getting called up to Iowa from Tennessee to replace Fox?
  3. Summary: Cubs fans, meet you're new starting 3rd baseman, Ryan Freel.
  4. I think its the flu and they need the roster spot. tough break.
  5. I wonder if Fox will get the start at 1st vs. the lefty if Lee is still sick.
  6. that's just stupid. he's not even going to play. If hes our 1 backup middle infielder, he'll see some time.
  7. Also, according to another thread, Cotts down, Wadell up. I get the feeling that will be a wash.
  8. Blanco will make us miss Miles. Mark my words.
  9. Miles to DL makes sense. Cotts/Waddel is a wash as far as Im concerned. Blanco makes no sense. the guy has 6 errors on the season, and will be lucky to match Ryan Freels offensive numbers thus far. I get the feeling that in a weeks time, Blanco hate will eclipse that of Jacque Jones, Macias, Neifi, Kendall, Hawkins, Miles, Freel, Gathright, C Patt, and Cotts combined. I guess it means that Freel gets the starting 3B job by default.
  10. If Blanco gets the call, Fox may as well turn in his 2 weeks notice. Say what you will about Foxes defense, but Blanco has 6 errors on the season to Foxes 3, so if your going to have a crappy defender on the team, you may as well go with the hot bat.
  11. 1) And it also raises concerns about how well he'll hit for us 2) Incentive for them not to trade him cheaply 3) More incentive not to trade him cheaply 4) Even more incentive not to trade him cheaply 5) Good point 6) I don't put huge stock in a couple hundred ABs a year, but it is nice 7) True 8) Again, true 9) He's never played it before, so I wonder if he could 1) Hes not Bobby Scales 2) Hes not Ryan Freel 3) Hes not Aaron Miles He's also not that good overall and will likely cost more than he's worth in terms of prospects. But again, if he does in fact come cheap, I'm perfectly fine with a trade. I just don't think he'll come cheap enough. And again, Scales is getting on base at a perfectly fine rate right now. He just needs to play over the Miles/Freel duo. The problem with Scales/Miles/Freel is that until Lou gives one of them the job, there all going to be in limbo. Granted, Id rather the trade, but if thats not going to happen, one of those 3 need to be made the full time starter, make 1 a backup, and dump the 3rd and call up Jake Fox as a Daryl Ward type who will be nothing more than a bat off the bench. IMHO, none of that trio will be significantly better than the other 2, but if given that vote of confidence that they will have the everyday job, that could make them at least productive. ETA: ^By process of elimination, that job goes to Ryan Freel. yay.
  12. I like what Ive seen from the offense the past 2 games, and if we can go at least 3-2 in the next 5, all will be well.

  14. This would probably make todays game a good time to rest Pujols.
  15. Nope, just a guy I cant imagine doing a worse job than the guy weve got now.
  16. Just be glad we scored before the cat poop came to the plate.
  17. Quick response time: Freel and Miles or Neifi and Macias?
  18. Of course that little crud monkey had to go and end it.
  19. The solid outing by Cashner is the only thing that matters to me in that game.
  20. You know if we actually win this thing, naked Stoney becomes a staple in game threads.
