  1. Often when we hear what we want to hear, we try to believe, be it from a reliable source or not.
  2. In our time of need(again) we turn to an old friend http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee6/ccwolfe75/SteveStone04.jpg Help us naked Steve Stone, you're our only hope.
  3. Soto has no options remaining and would definitely be claimed. I forgot about his brief 2005 2006 stints. Bradley doesn't want to be a Cub? Is that why he sat around this offseason waiting until the Cubs freed up money to sign? Everyone wants to be a Cub until the boo birds come out. Besides, he probalbly ralised that the Cubs were most likely to give him the 3 years and money he wanted.
  4. Did anyone ever say that Fukudome is as good as Pujols? His ceiling was Bobby Abreu at best. I dont think anyone ever compared him to Pujols, even when he first came over. lol, you are seriously the worst at picking up sarcasm ever. i even added the "good luck winning with a .900 ops center fielder" line just to make sure people understood i was being sarcastic, even though it shouldnt have been necessary. edit: also i dont get the abreau comparison. in his price abrea was ridiculous, way more than fukudome ever could have been..... and new abreu sucks, so fukudome's ceiling is higher than that I obviously meant vintage Abreu. I remember a lot of hype surrounding Fukudome when he came here, so i wouldnt be surprised if someone compared him to Pujols.
  5. I would by no means by surprised to see Soto sent to Iowa as soon as tomorrow. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that with 2 on and no outs, down by 2 in the 9th that Lou would PH Andres Blanco for him.
  6. If you heard Lous post game, which I only heard clips of on the score, Ive never heard Lou, or any manager for that matter sound so defeated. He seriously sounds like hes given up, and wants no more part of this. Too bad you cant place a manager on the bereavement list.
  7. We probably could have gotten Abreu or Dunn and kept DeRosa and we wouldnt be in this pickel
  8. heres confirmation from Brewefan http://brewersfandemonium.yuku.com/topic/19244
  9. If Delgado isnt due back any time soon, The Mets would love Lee, not too mention Harden.
  10. The Orioles have no reason to move Roberts. Maybe Huff or Mora, but not Roberts. With him, Wieters, Jones, and Markakis, they have a nice young core. No pitching, but a nice young core. Will they ever be able to compete with the Yanks, Sawx, or even Rays? Doubtful, but they shouldnt think that way and coceed every season until Steinbrenner dies, Epstein retires, and the Rays players go to different teams.
  11. I saw that. Interesting. At least he can go down feeling good about his last start even though his performance was largely due to the fact that our offense is horrible. Why the hell should he feel good? He was horrible today...he gave up like 4 hits to the stinkin Cubs. I don't blame Minnesota for sending him down. They have to have better options out there. 4 hits? Sheesh... Yeah.... 4 hits, and a couple of walks to boot !! Send him down !! They know he can beat the Cubs, they just felt it was better to send him to AAA to face real competition.
  12. He could be out up to 3 months, mesning hes likely off the trade market. Could be good news for us. Assuming the Ownership is ever resolved, the Peavy talks can get going again in the offseason.
  13. I would very much not like that deal. The reason kendrick has fallen out of favor with the Angels is because he hasnt been very good. We have enough of that. If we were to sell, we could get a lot for Harden.
  14. Cobs loose 2-1. Twins fans leave Metrodome South happy. Go back home, and realise they're in Minnasota. Happiness short lived.
  15. Did anyone catch Lous post game? He sounds really disheartened, like he just doesnt want to be there. As soon as he put in Blanco for Soto with the fake rally on the line, I knew it was it.
  16. Did anyone ever say that Fukudome is as good as Pujols? His ceiling was Bobby Abreu at best. I dont think anyone ever compared him to Pujols, even when he first came over.
  17. I had me a fun filled day at Metrodome South. Never seen Cubs fans so outnumbered. Or so it seemed. Twins fans were the only ones into the game. And why not. They may not have the best team out there, but its not a heaping pile of monkey crap like ours. Besides, aside from a decent baseball team, a borderline football team, and a really big mall, what else do they really have going for them. Twins fans did get nervous in the end when Bradley and Lee got on. Part of me wanted to comfort them and explain the process of a fake rally.
  18. Wells and Hoffpauir to AAA Samrdzjia and Taguchi called up. Or something idiotic like that. Or perhaps nothing at all.
  19. Why bother? Its the Nationals. Its not like they give the guy much to work with.
  20. If we wanted to get somethig right now, the best we could probably get is Felipe Lopez whod be somewhat of an upgrade or Ronnie Belliard, whose having a beyond brutal season. The only possible upside of Belliard is hed probably only cost a PTBNL and the hope that he can give us something. Lopez might be a decent target. Have you seen the D Backs depth chart? They have 3 outfielders, 0 first baseman, 4 middle infielders, 1 third baseman and 4 starting pitchers.
  21. Oh come on, you know what this board needed was another thread to point out that the Cobs are bad and point out why. Much like Milton yesterday, ragirags heart was in the right place.
  22. If hes not coming off the DL today, I dont see the point in sending a hitter down instead of a pitcher, much less one who pitched yesterday.
  23. So Im attedning the game today, but wondering if it gets in. I cheked weather.com, and they say its supposed to rain all day. However, the weather on the news says its supposed to rain until about noon, but mainly in the nothern subarbs. Anyone out there have one of those nifty weather radar maps? And if it does rain, how does the rain check deal work for a double header, which Im assuming could happen tomorow? Ive never been in such a situation. I know this is usually covere in the game thread, but it hasnt been started.
  24. Certainly not this year, or next, or probably 2011. It'll be a while till we have the financial flexibility to make the moves necessary to win it all again. 2013 according to Back to the Future II. I cant wait to put on my automatically form fitting Nike jump suit and take my hover board to the series.
