  1. it'd be nice if he at least yelled at Bradley and Soriano for slacking out there in the outfield. What good would result from that, do you think? Maybe he can also take away their TV priveliges and not let them go to prom too.
  2. Haha, what? Haven't they won a couple in a row? The makings of a hot streak. They aren't great teams but they do get hot and cold like everyone else. Except for us presumably. Heading into today Milwaukee had won 2 in a row, STL 1, Cubs 1. Last 10: MIL: 4-6, STL: 4-6, CHC: 5-5 Last 20: MIL: 9-11, STL: 9-11, CHC: 9-11 I wouldnt call it getting hot just yet, but unlike the Cobs, theyve been playing some competant baseball.
  3. Lou does that annually: in 2007 and this season, he tried batting Soriano 3rd. In 2008, he started the season with Theriot and Soriano hitting 1-2. It only ever lasts a few games because when it comes to lineups, Lou has the attention span of a child. Now, I don't know wheter the aforementioned decisions were reversed by Lou or by Soriano, but so far as we know, it's not as if they've been jonesing to try it for three seasons and Soriano's put his foot down every time. This time, its not so much to help the offesne but to limit the damage. We need a leadoff hitter that can get on base.
  4. The latest says that Pedro could be signing sooner than later, and the Cubs and Rays are the 2 teams hes been in most contact with. The Rays management doesnt think anything will come of it, leaving the Cubs as the favorite for him. I guess hed go in the rotation, Wells to the pen, and that silly David Patton experiment finally comes to an end. I know Wells deserves a rotation spot, but so did Marshall, and if Pedros best for the team, go for it. I am warming up to the idea of Pedro, even though if we have any expendable income, Id rather get a bat, preferbly Ray Durham, or even Jim Edmonds, despite the fact that we dont have room for him.
  5. In Lous post game, as only he can, he said that it was time that he was going to have to make some tough decisions, and get some other guys in the lineup. Jake Fox may well be one of those other guys. He looked competant in left today, and whether they give Soriano time off, or put him in 2nd, that sounds like a plan to me. Soto could also be one of the casualties, but as bad as he can be, Id much rather wait for him to come along than go with Koyie Hill. Also, Soriano said that he would be OK with moving down in the lineup if it helps the team. I know hes said that in the past, but I think its time to take him up on it. Ryan Theriot would be the logical replacement, but on the score, they said that Kosuke could be given a try too, and focus on getting on base and not try to hit for power.
  6. well they didnt. they looked like the same crap weve weve been seeing for the past few months.
  7. Refresh my memory, was the 2006 team quite this hapless? Maybe its time to tank this season and get Bryce Harper.
  8. When is it time for Lou to go, be it firing or let him resign? Yeah, he "led" us to 2 consecutive post season appearences for the first time in a century, but that also may have had to do with having the best team weve had in a while. That being said, both post season appearences led to epic fails, and now this. Im not sayin Lou doesnt care any more, because Im sure its eating him up inside, but hes run out of answers, and thats worse. Every year, you see managers fired from teams that if John McGraw were to rise from the grave and manage he couldnt do anything with, but Lou has a very expensive, star studded team here, and they're tanking big time. When is enough enough?
  9. Heres to making another mediocre pitcher look like Walter Johnson. Do these guys ever get tired of being pathetic at best? Nothing loveable about these losers.
  10. I know there are teams capable of storming back from a seemingly insurmountable 2 run deficit in the 2nd inning, but the 2009 Cobs arent 1 of them.
  11. Im not going to lie, this is the most evenly matched Ive seen these 2 teams in a while. If Bradley, Soto, and Fontenot are really begining to heat up, that will give us a leg up, and if Soriano decides hes not going approach every at bat like an 8 year old in front of a pineada, that would be huge, but for the most part, offenses are pretty even, and while we have them on starting pitching, they have us on bullpen. It should be a good series. May the less bad team win.
  12. I say just get Belliard. Now before everyone starts LOLing, im not saying hes a savior, or even a regular starter, just a potential upgrade. Granted, his stats are but ugly this year, but he hasnt even had 100 ABs. Hes a guy who will average out with a .720-.750 OPS and about 10 home runs. When Ramirez comes back, he should be a much better option than Miles, Blanco, Scales, or Freel off the bench. We could probably get hism for something like Kevin Hart or even a PTBNL.
  13. And I don't think the Sox have ever seen Wells? Did he pitch against them in the Pen last year? Too lazy to look it up. Anyway, we all know what the Sox do against pitchers they have never seen. He only pitched 4 games for Toronto last year, but I dont know who they were against. After that, we didnt bring him up until September.
  14. MLB.com has Danks vs. Dempster. Not it would make sense if Z was pitching today, but the fact that its Dempster kind of annoys me. Is Lou just skipping Well now because he had one rough start after a series of wasted gems.
  15. According to a disinterested Lous pre-non game interview last night, Fox will be used in the same fashion he was during his last stint, and "maybe in the outfield if need be".
  16. Same thing happened with Ascanio. He was doing awful as a reliever at the beginning of the season in Iowa, and all of the sudden, he was lights out. However, minor league stats should be taken with a grain of salt sometimes. After all, Neal Cotts has always been dominant in AAA.
  17. And theyre beating him 4-2. Kevin Hart went 6, gave up 2 runs, 1 earned with 6 hits, 3 BB and 7 K.
  18. With half the Newark Bears. It wouldnt come to that because wed still have DeRosa and probably Adam Dunn.
  19. Man, the Indians seem to be better at fake rallies than we are.
  20. I wouldn't give Marshall for either of those two. Where would Willingham play, by the way? It all depends if theres any substance to the Soriano to 2nd banter.
  21. I dont know why we dont try to work something with the Nationals. Im not talking Adam Dunn, but we could go after Josh Willingham or Christian Guzman. If were willing to part with Sean Marshall, we could probably make somethig happen.
  22. Awesome what are we down like 4 games now? 3. Will be 2.5 or 3.5 by the end of the night. No, I meant games we have to make up. It could work to our benefit if the team has their stuff more together when its time to make these games up. 2 games off could be exactly what Soriano needs.
