  1. 3 easy outs coming up, and if any of them manage to get on, more easy outs.
  2. Ill give Bradley this, he finds innovative ways to be bad.
  3. Ya reckin the Cobs will ever get sick of being bad, or are they just growing accustomed to it?
  4. After the last attempt of Soriano ut of the leadoff spot, I doubt Lou will ever move him, although its needed. The difference is, last time it was to help the offense by getting him in the middle of the order, this time it would be to put him at the end of it to limit the damage,
  5. So who gets sent down, Scales or Blanco? Miles. No, probably Scales. I say try Freel at leadoff and see how it works and send Soriano to 6th or wherever. It couldnt be any worse than our current configuration. I remember the cursed day we aquired Freel, thinking hed be a solid backup for Ramirez. Sadly, later that evening we learned that wouldnt be the case.
  6. Yup, Clayton Richard and the White Sox will be traveling to Wrigley North to take on Jeff Suppan the 1st place Brewers. Of course we dont want the Sox heating up as we have to deal with them next week. And Mark Derosa and Kerry Wood have a chance to help the Cubs out as they could have been all season when they and the Indians take on The Cardinals behind Joel Piniero.
  7. The player they get doesn't have to match Hendry's salary. Given the state of the Trib and also of the Cubs team, I wouldn't be surprised if Hendry was encouraged to drop some payroll if at all possible. I can't really think of many more players that have both value and a tradable contract on the Cubs. you still haven't answered the question. where are we going to put a bat? 2B is the only place we can really upgrade, and like i said, i don't see any potentially avilable 2B that would be worth giving up our best starting pitcher (this season) for. people keep talking aobut wanting to get a bat, but they never say where he's going to play. we're locked in at every position but second base, shortstop, and catcher..... and we're not going to find upgrades at shortstop or catcher. Second base, third base, right field. It doesn't have to be a guaranteed starter. If you can find a player who can play 3B until Rammy is back and RF when Bradley is hurt, needs days off, or is ineffective, that's a player to look for. Also any player to avoid Miles or Freel to be in the lineup, or Font vs. Lefties is fine by me. I more than realize your point is that the Cubs are paying superstar money to fill every position but 2b, 3b and C. We need to give the offense a boost wherever we can get it. Taking Miles, Freel or Font vs. LHP and replacing with someone even mediocre to the team. Anything to avoid Fontenot, Hill, Miles and Blanco being the mainstays at 6-8 in the lineup everyday. Will it solve all of our offensive problems? No. Bottom line our big money hitters need to improve in order for this season to have any meaning. But that doesn't mean there aren't still other areas where we can approve. So many people seem to assume that if we cant get a Matt Holliday or whatever, theres no point. Id just assume get a guy who can fill in at 3rd for a few weeks and when Ramirez returns, we have someone who can give him a rest here and there and hit off the bench. If he can play multiple positions like he who will remain nameless, thats good too.
  8. A. first, we have to make it to game 163. B. Any team who is going to trade that player who will supposdely get past game 163 is probably a seller, and a seller isnt likely to trade for a guy whose owed 11 million next year, rather they'll want prospects and salary relief.
  9. what position is that bat going to play? Preferably 3B, 2B, and RF. I wonder if theres anyone like that in the majors who can hit. hmm... I'd trade Stevens, Gaub, and Archer for the player you're thinking of. Throw in Miles and we might have a deal
  10. Not bad. Id rather see a guy give up a few homr runs than be single and walked to death. If they need a replacement, might I suggest Koyie Hill.
  11. Cubs win 8-2, however fail to score more than 2 runs in any of the next 5 games. Luckily, its good enough to take 2 of 3 from the White Sox.
  12. Thats got to be the problem with a lot of these guys. If guys like Pedro, Durham, and Edmonds were willing to sign 1 year deals, theyd probably have jobs, especially with so many teams in need of offense, but they probably think they're still worth a 2 year 12-15 mil deal, so teams are passing.
  13. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=54538
  14. If Ricketts plans on doing this to use the money to help the team, Im all for it. If hes trying to pull a Bill Wirtz, than to hell with him.
  15. what position is that bat going to play? Preferably 3B, 2B, and RF. I wonder if theres anyone like that in the majors who can hit. hmm...
  16. I say sign em all and call em all up. Could they really be any worse?
  17. If any pitcher is replaced in the rotation for any reason by Pedro, I predict that Sean Marshall trades himself.
  18. They're not going to trade Lilly. Maybe in the off season or this time next year of were out of it, but not now. It wouldnt be worth it to aquire a rent a player, especially with Ramirez supposedly close to returning. They'll probably make a trade, they always do, but if they're cash strapped, it will be more of the Craig Monroe/Steve Traschle variety than Nomar/Harden.
  19. Kevin Hart with another solid start. 2 ER on 4 hits and 3 walks with 5 Ks. With 96 pitches at the end of 7, Im asuming hes done. Its the type of inning that the Chi Cubs would make into a loss or an ND, but the I Cubs have spotted him 5 runs.
  20. There seem to be a lot of teams interested in DeRo. Wouldn't it be hilarious if we payed more in terms of prospects to get him back than we received when we traded him? If we got him, thats probably how it would end up happening. Its all about supply and demand.
  21. Is there any point bringing up the obvious answer in DeRosa?
  22. Depending on how much monet they have or dont have, it could. I highly doubt Pedros going to sign for cheap just to play.
  23. Nothing against Pedro, but if they're really considering Pedro, they really have no clue as to what our needs are.
  24. if by third you mean first, then yes he is. Kevin Hart just got out of a bases loaded 0 out jam with 0 runs.
