  1. Hermida just hit a walk off vs. the Cards, so yay to that.
  2. If Bradley gives us Jacque Jones 2006 numbers or carries us through the 2nd half like he did in 2007, Id be more than thrilled.
  3. If a pitcher ever wants to ensure the Cubs dont score, just load the bases at the beginning of every inning.
  4. K's a lot, doesn't walk a lot. Hits for decent power but a lot of people seem to think he won't in the pros, sounds like he might have a hole in his swing or something Sounds like a Rob Deer or Russ Branyan, or worse, Jason Dubois. No. Jackson is a really good athlete, good speed, good defense. Then why is he hated?
  5. Frigging Teddy! If we strand the pitcher after a leadoff triple, we deserve to lose.
  6. I know little about Jackson, and Im dreading him now.

  8. So whats the deal with Brett Jackson and why does he get Aaron Miles hate?
  9. It rates teams on their drafts over the last 10 years,as far as how the picks panned out for them. Brewers ranked #1. Cubs ranked #25. Interesting that they chose Ryan Harvey as the "bust" pick. Cant take anything away from Harvey as a bust, but I think that Pawelek should rank higher in bustdom. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/david_sabino/06/07/draft.rankings/index.html#?eref=T1
  10. I read or heard something somewhere implying there was some sort of friction, but I didn't get any details. What sort of friction is there? Or is it media created? He was a decent minor leaguer, but nothing special, and has been a relatively disappointing major leaguer, right? I wouldn't if they traded for him, but I can't imagine the price being right from the White Sox. Can he do anything besides play 3rd if/when Aramis returns? Would he hold any residual value for 2010 other than as trade bait? if its an if/when and not a when, they better get lokking for something. I dont care if they have to dig up Bobby frigging Hill, we just need someone not names Miles, Scales, or Blanco starting.
  11. MLB.com predicts A.J. Pollock. Imagine that, a Noter Dame guy.
  12. Can nick names really be counted as great names, IE Travis "Gookie" Dawkins or Calvin "Pokey" Reese? If so, Clyde "Pork Chop" Pough wins the award.
  13. Sorry, Don Mossi wins http://www.jayweb.com/joegoldberger/mossi1.jpg
  14. If he succeeds, more power to him. Its not like our starting staff is hurting. Hell, Jason Marquis is at a 20 win pace, and I dont regret moving him, even if he doesn collapse in the second half as we know he will.
  15. Matt Wieters would make us happy. In all seriousness, just send us Melvin Mora and call it a day. We'll figure out what to do with him when Aramis returns when the time comes.
  16. and they give you cash, which is just as good as money.
  17. But at the same time, the usual celler dwellers would be able to aquire solid major league ready players as opposed to a draft pick who would give them maybe 3-4 years of major league service before the Yankees or Red Sox get them anyway. Is Strasberg does end up living up to his hype, how long to you think Scott Boras is going to let him stay in Washington or Portland or Indianapolis or wherever that God forsaken franchise is by then?
  18. If Ozzie really does want to get the 2005 team back together, Im sure the Giants would gladly part with Aaron Rowand and his idiotic contract. And how does Neil Cotts for Gordon Beckham sound?
  19. So how come teams cant trade draft picks in baseball like they can in the other sports? The Nats could probably get a kings ransom in prospects and major league ready players for theirs this year, and that would probably serve them better than Strasberg, no matter how good he is.
  20. i'm surprised there aren't any bad middle relievers still floating around. you know, the norm charlton, terry mulholland, jesse orosco types. I think Mike Stanton was the last of that lot. John Smoltz is still playing, although he hasnt pitched yet this season, and Tom Glavine may well find work.
