  1. There's nothing else to say. I blame the rap music.
  2. I'm not trying to pick on you as I know many people have expressed this sentiment, but I just don't see how anyone can see this course of action as the appropriate one. I don't understand how suspending Bradley for the final two weeks of meaningless games benefits anyone, other than letting the current players feel a little more comfortable (if that's even true) with out Bradley around sulking. The only impact I can see this having is driving Bradley's trade value down even lower. At this point,a trade is inevitable. However, all the suspension accomplishes is drastically lowering his already low trade value. As it is, every baseball GM who may be interested in Bradley knew that they could low ball us like crazy. Now, they know that they not only dont have to give up much more than a low level prospect or 2, but they know that we'll probably pick up a good 80% of the tab, if not more. Its just a bad move. If they wanted him out for the rest of the season, they should have blamed it on the knee and not gone public with the suspension.
  3. I have a friend Ive been friends with since we were 12 or 13. He was a die hard Tigers fan. A few years ago, he moved to LA, and the past 2 years, he bleeds Dodger Blue. I dont see him anymore, but everytime he posts about the Dodgers on Facebook, Im right there to remind him where he came from.
  4. I think as long as Fox goes 3-4 with a home run every game he plays, he might have a chance at some playing time, but if not, its the end of the bench behind Miles and Taguchi for him.
  5. The optomist in me says that we trade Milton Bradley for prospects and cash Some sort of platoon of Fox, Hoffpauir, and Colvin man RF Aquire a middle indfielder like Chone Figgins or Orlando Hudson for a reasonable contract The pessimist in me says we give away Milton Bradley for some low level pitching prospects and eat the entire contract sign Jermaine Dye to a 2/18 deal sign Placido Polanco or Ronnie Belliard to a 3/20 deal
  6. Every time the Cubs have some success, theres a fair share of bandwagoners that jump on. A lot of them jump off when they hit a nose dive, but some get sucked in. Its not just the Cubs though. Back in 2005, I remember seeing a lot of White Sox jerseys walking around the north shore, and they vanished real quick.
  7. As Ive said before, I think that lot of the crap Bradley gets dumped on him is the fans projecting toward Jim Hendry more so than Bradley himself. The thing about the Milton Bradley situation is that its not just Bradley himself. Its the exodus of Mark Derosa to make room for Milton Bradley, as well as the seasons of Raul Ibanez, Adam Dunn, and Bobby Abreu, all of whom Hendry passed on the get to Bradley. When the fans boo Milton Bradley, evn is it is sub consciously, they're booing Jim Hendry. The off season was an absolute mess, and Milton Bradley was the centerpiece. All I know is if that we end up eating Milton Bradleys contract and Aaron Miles is stil on the team because they dont want to eat his, that will be very bad.
  8. I might be interested in taking a flyer on Hermida to platoon with Jake Fox, as long as he came very cheap. Hes had his share of success at Wrigley. Too be honest, if I felt confident that Soriano could come back full strenght and be able to manage as a #5 hitter, Id be interested in maybe a 3 man platoon of Fox, Colvin, and Hoffpauir in RF. I really dont think it could be any worse than some of the alternate options.
  9. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. He got into it with Scoscia about I foget what. [ When hes healthy, hes a big RBI guy. Of course hes not healthy all that often.
  10. I mentioned it in a Bradley thread. The best bet to walk away with anything for him would be either Mags or Jose Guillen from KC. Mags earns 18 mil next year, so obviously, wed have to work that out with Detroit and find a way to split the difference. I think Guillen earns 11 or 12 mil next year. All 3 a are overpaid and injury prone and I figure its better than walking away with nothing.
  11. He played OF in the 10th, but whatever I was follwing on gameday. Good for him though. Id like to see Jake and Colvin in the corner outfield tomorrow. Probably wont though. Our manager is stupid like that.
  12. CUBS WIN!!! CUBS WIN!!! WHO CARES!!! CUBS WIN!!!
  13. I like howe Jake gets a pity inning in the outfield because he homered. Good work big guy, we'll see you in a few weeks after all of the worse options have been used.
  14. Wait, Colvin got called up? Shows how many games I've watched in the past week. He's meeting the team tomorrow in Milwaukee For real or speculation? Anyone else being called up? http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/2628 Of course he'll play. Anyone whose name doesnt rhyme with Lake Lox plays.
  15. Wait, Colvin got called up? Shows how many games I've watched in the past week. He's meeting the team tomorrow in Milwaukee For real or speculation? Anyone else being called up?
  16. He knocked out Aaron Miles, took his jersey, and walked around on his knees.
  17. Jake Fox, huh? Wait, thats the guy thats Lous buried at the end of the bench in favor of Bobby Scales, Aaron Miles, and So Taguchi, correct?
  18. At this point, were not going to get a solid player, prospects, or enough salary relief for Bradley. Railroading him and eating the salary with nothing in return is inexcuseable. Right now, if he really has to go for one reason or another, we should explore a trade with a team who has a player they want to rid themselves of, such as Jose Guillen from KC, Magglio Ordonez from Detroit, or someone similar and find a way to accomadate as far as money goes.
  19. Would Bradley+prospects&cash be enough to net us Adam Dunn? I think its at least worth exploring.
  20. I really cant see too much of a disaster this offseason. I dont see Z going anywhere, unless something really good comes back like Peavy. If Bradly goes, we'll probably end up with a similar player with a bad contract, something like a Magglio Ordonez or Jose Guillen. Other than that, maybe we'll get another middle infielder, maybe not. Maybe another starter, maybe not. I for one am very curious to see what happens, and actually kind of looking forward to see what Hendry does to try and clean up his mess.
  21. I suppose if both teams, coming off dissapointing season wanted to really shake things up they could do Z, Theriot, and Bradley for Peavy, Alexie Ramirez, and Quentin. Never going to happen, but it would be intersting.
  22. Intriguing. While I dont know how to feel about this, which I dont see happening anyway as its just specualtion, not even rumor, Id prefer it 100% over a salary dump or some prospects. If we do end up gettig rid of Z, this would probably be the best way to go. -Peavy prefers the NL, with the Cubs as one of his top 2 choices. -Ozzie and Cooper seem to think they can strighten Z out+Z and Ozzie seem to have a good relatinship -The White Sox are among the teams that Z said hed like to play for other than the Cubs. -Both have their share of nagging injuries, but not to the sam degree as say Sheets or Harden -While I think Z may be a bettter overall pitcher, Peavy is always been consistant as opposed to Z and his off a gain on again schtick
  23. A lot of people were saying that Bradley wouldnt be able to perform under the pressure of the Cubs, and in order to play well, he needed a smaller market team like Tampa Bay or Washington. Those that wanted Bradley laughed that off. I guess the irony is that if any team would be able to or want to take on his contract, it wouldnt be one of those small market teams.
  24. How? How does it effect the game if they don't like Bradley? How is Bradley impacting any of these players when they go up to bat or are making a play in the field or pitching the ball? He's not: that's simply not realistic at all. You're either saying the players are so weak-minded that they can't produce because they're constantly thinking about a guy who has absolutely nothing to do with them at that moment or they're so petty they're essentially willfully focusing on Bradley over the game. Again, I'm not saying Bradley's a jerk, but I want to know how people know or think that his attitude is actually impacting the play of the other players or the outcomes of the games. What, are you blind? He took a crowbar to Sorianos knees. Soto and Fontenot have been so depressed by his behavior that theve been sucking most of the season. Zambrano and Harden hate him so much that theyve forgotten how to pitch. He has Marmol so upset that he lost all concept of the strike zone. His behavior has angered Lou so much that he makes foolish decison like putting in Aaron Miles a key pinch hitting situations. Ramirez and Theriot are so steamed that they cant even turn routine plays anymore. Hell, he cost Ramirez a big chunk of the season.
  25. Not his biggest problem, but a problem. Isnt one of the objectives of spring training to let your AAA players try to earn bench and utility jobs? Fuld and Blanco could have just as easily started the season as Gathright and Miles. If worst comes to worst, and your minor leaguers dont pan out and you need an extra veteran or 2, I can guarantee that but the time spring trainig coms to a close, there will be a on of Aaron Miles and Joey Gathrights floating around that can be signed for league inumum. Just give your own guys a chance first. as for the big contracts, Sorianos beats of a deal was a result of being comletely humiliated. From what Ive heard, his next best offer was in the 75 mil range, but Hendry felt he needed to make a statement after the 2006 embarassment. Fukudome was the next year, because we didnt have a starting right fielder, and the next year, Bradley was a knee jerk because of 3 bad games. 2009 has been another embarassement, and we can be sure that somethig happens in the offseason, be it overpaying for a vetran after railroading Bradley or overpaying in prospects to another team.
