  1. This one made me throw up in my mouth more than just a little bit My thoughts are if Hendry pulled this off and didnt get fired, Id give up.
  2. Those Twins fans are pretty enthusiastic. I went to a Cubs-Twins game earlier this year, and aside from the White Sox and Cardinals, Ive never seen the opposing teams fans as well represented as them.
  3. The thing is, I like Grabow, but for maybe a 2/3 deal. For anything more, between Marshall, Gorz, and Gaub we have 2 lefties for the pen.
  4. So when was the last time we gave a middle reliever a long term contract like that and it ended well? Think about it Jim.
  5. Alfonso Soriano and Geovany Soto.
  6. Yep. Silver lining to a crappy season. Sweet, so when we give Felipe Lopez or Juan Uribe a 5/90 deal we wont have to worry about losing our draft pick. it would include: Aramis injuring his shoulder Alfonso Soriano misplaying multiple routine plays Aaron Miles grounding weakly to the second baseman a bunch of times Lou stiing in the dugout looking pissed Carlos Marmol walking a bunch of guys in montage form Z tossing the ump out of the game and smashing the Gatoraid cooler Aaron MIles grounding weakly to 2B a bunch of other times Miton Bradley tossign the ball into the stands after the 2nd out Milton Bradley yelling at fans More of Aaron Miles grounding weakly to 2B Carlos Marmol walking more guys Kevin Gregg blowing saves More of Aaron Miles grounding weakly to 2B More of Lou looking pissed MOre of Soriano misplaying routing balls Geovany Soto King to end the season
  7. Way to go out with a whimper boys. I guess it was a perfectly fitting end to the season.
  8. Not a pretty lineup once again Fuld CF Fukudome RF Ramirez 3B Fox 1B Baker 2B Scales LF Hill C Blanco SS Gorz P
  9. Sounds like we need a 3-way trade to happen: Cubs get Hawpe Padres get Bradley + $9 million Rockies get Chris Young (rom Padres) and Sean Marshall (from Cubs) Additional tweaking (money and/or players) might be needed. I like it, but the Padres probably need more to give up their default ace. If there was a way for us to land Young and Hawpe in seperate deals, Id be all for it, say Bradley and either Marshall, Gorz, or Samardzjia for Young and a prospect package for Hawpe.
  10. If there is one potentially attainable player that would be the ideal fit, it would be Brad Hawpe. Hed be the middle of the order lefty Lous looking for and plays the open position. The question is, will the Rockies be willing to trade him? They do have a crowded outfield between Smith, Fowler, Gonzalez, Spilborghs, Murton, and Eric Youn waiting in the wins, so I suppose for the right price, he could be had. Obviously, considerig the afor ementioned crowded outfield, they have no use for Bradley, so we still have to find a taker for him.
  11. And they were playing meaningless baseball long before that day. [ Meaning that while the games before that date were meaningless, that was the last of them.
  12. My prediction: Sam Fuld CF Tyler Colvin RF Jeff Baker 3B Jake Fox LF Micah Hoffpauir 1B Andres Blanco SS Koyie Hill C Aaron Garbage Face 2B Jeff Samrdzjia P I know it clearly says Lilly, but just a hunch.
  13. It is Paul Sullivan, so take it for what its worth, but it really sounds like weve seen the last of Harden as a Cub.
  14. And the alternative to using stats gives more consistent analysis? One time, I saw Rowand bang into a wall to make a catch! More proof that hes a really expensive Reed Johnson.
  15. I like Harden, and I dont understand the point of not at least offering arbitration and getting picks if nothing else, however, given his history, I can undersatnd not wanting to pay him big money, essentially with all the bad money Hendry has floating around there, but what if we were to send Bradley to SD for Chris Young, and then get ahold of an outfielder from somewhere, be it Mike Cameron, Pat Burrell, or more wishfull thinking Carl Crawford, BJ Upton. Matt Holliday, or Jason Bay.
  16. Id actually be inclined to agree with Boaras, if all the guys he mentioned were mediocre at best baseball players.
  17. Carl Crawford is one of those players who is worth giving up a lot for. Hes basiclly everything that Corey Patterson was supposed to become. Upton has that upside as well.
  18. I wouldnt say making out like bandits, especially if we got Crawford. As for Upton, he is only 25 with tremendous upside, and whilen theyre getting some quality prospects, MB and Janks are both huge question marks. There have been specualtions of Z for Peavy sicne the Z trade talks started, so why not make it more intersting. With Thome gone, and Dye likely to folow, Burrell would be a nice fir as their DH.
  19. Weve spoilerballed the hell out of the Giants. lets put the nail in the coffin.
  20. Cubs get: BJ Upton or Carl Crawford Jake Peavy Rays get Milton Bradley Bobby Jenks 1 of Vitters, Castro, HJ Lee, 1 of Carpenter/Jackson/Coleman/Cashner White Sox get Carlos Zambrano Pat Burrell decent Rays or Cubs prospect Of course a lot of cash will have to change hands as well.
  21. Question isnt who wants him, question is what do they have to offer. I cant see any top prospects comin in return, and as it says, we'll have to settle for another bad contract: Giants: Aaron Rowand-hed basically be a really expensive Reed Johnson Padres: On the off chance we could get Adrian Gonzalez, were giving up a ton of prospects in addition to MB. Chris Young-has been brought up, and be better thn nothing Rangers: Michael Young? Ive always liked him, but he has an ugly contract. Maybe Josh Hamilton? I dont know if they want to move him, but Id glarly take him. Rays: Pat Burrell? Hed basically Jake Fox, a DH in the NL. However, as its been stated before, they say the'll move Upton or Crawford if the price is right, and Id gladly give up MB+ a nice prospect package for either guy. In fact if we could get either, I migh be inclined to forgive Jim Hendry for 2009. Mets: Reyes is just spec, and I cant see it happening. The main name brought up from them is Oliver Perez, and he comes with a big fat DO NOT WANT sign around his neck.
  22. I will be vey disappointed and upset if Heilman is on this team next yr. We've got arm that can do a better job then Heilman, and this "veteran label" should not automatically include him onto the team next yr. I really hope Heilman joins Gregg on the train out. I'll be ticked off but by no means surprised when Heilman signs a 2/4.5 extension.
  23. If the Cubs feel Bradley for Rowand is the best they can do, then they better be asking for a really good prospect with Rowand. Rowands' contract is guarantee longer then Bradley's. (Bradley's 2011 season is only guarantee through certainincentives). If we have to trade the superior player with the shorter deal, then I want really solid prospect with Rowand. We'd be lucky if we didnt end up giving them a really good prospect. Rowand may not be the ideal option, but every GM knows that Hendrys desperate to move Bradley and will milk it for all they can.
