  1. Id given up on him, but in hind sight, it was pretty foolish. 2008 was a bad year for him, and he still had a .291 avg and a .823 OPS with 20 HR and 90 RBI, so I dont know why I thought hed suddenly turn to crap at age 33. Its not like this is Gary Sheffield were talking about. Watching him this year, he easily has another 5 productive years left in him. Im sure next year, he'll get off to his patented slow start and heat up in June and Ill be more patient.
  2. I've wondered this myself. It may have been the media prying information from players, but....it honestly seemed like there were several players that quickly had similar comments saying...."he brought this on himself....". I'm wondering if there were bad clubhouse issues. I hope Bradley isn't being made to be the scapegoat for a poor season though. He certainly played his part, but it took poor seasons from Soriano, Soto and Fontenot, as well as steps backward for Z and Dempster as well. IMO, Soriano and Soto had more to do with the poor season that Bradley. I think Id put Bradley after Soriano, the Ramirez injury, Soto, Fontenot, Gregg, and Lou as far as the order of blame.
  3. Do you honestly see any hope of this situation being rectified at this point? It's not happening. Absolutely. Somebody above Lou, Hendry, and Ryan Dempster needs to take charge of the situation, be it Crain Kenney or Ricketts himself. When a new regime comes in to takeover, the last way you want to start off is by flushing 20 million down the [expletive]. They have 6 months to hug it out. I can guarantee, if Milton Bradley helps the Cubs to the 2010 World Series, all will be forgiven. Hell, MB can bring Louis Farrakhan as his guest of honor to the celebration for all I care.
  4. Cameron would be an OK option if we were looking for a number 6 or 7 hitter, but were not, we need, as Lou said a middle of the order run producer. Mike Cameron is not that. At best he could be a number 2 hitter. Mike Camerons line will more than likely be worse than Milton Bradleys, but who cares, hes a great guy. If we knew that Soriano and Soto would rebound next year, I suppose we could sign Cameron for 5-6 mil, if we have to eat Bradleys contract and hopefully Miles' for desert.
  5. I dont so much disagree with the suspension, nor do I care about it at this point. What I do care about is eating the contract and paying him to play elsewhere. That solution is nonsensical at best. Whatever happened happened, and they should be able to rectify the situation between now and next year. If they want to trade him and get something in return, fine by me, but you dont eat the contract. If Milton is so miserable that he absolutely wants out, give him the opportunity to opt out of the contract. We'll see if has has 20 million dollars worth of hatred for Chicago and Cubs fans.
  6. If your a waiter and you dont like the customers, you do your job. If your a doctoer and you dont like your patients, you do your job. If your a lawyer and you dont like your clients, you do your job. If Braldey doesnt like the fans, thats tough,I think hes being paid enough to get over it. Hell, if I were him, for that kind of money the entire right field bleacher seats could show up in KKK hoods and Id not only get over it, but refer to them as massa the enitre season. Similarly, if the rest of the guys on the team dont like him, that shouldnt effect there play. They dont have to hang out with him after the game. Its not like football or basketball and they're all on the field together. Miltons all the way in right field. Aramis Ramirez is all the way at 3rd, with Dempster on the mound, Theriot at SS. The closest guy to him on the field doesnt even speak enough english to be bothered by him. Thers no reason for MB to have a negative effect on anyones play. To assume that he would effect their offensive play makes even less sense. So you dont like a guy your not going to try and drive him in when hes on base?
  7. *If* Hendry has to eat Bradley's contract and they have to fill holes in house and also have to cut payroll- all real possibilities- would likely mean not being very good the next couple years. cloud his judgement about Sandberg the manager. If thats the case, I dont even want to hear about it. [expletive], these guys are making millions of dollars to play baseball, so I think they can tolerate one another if it means being a better overall team. Im sick of hearing about clubhouse cancers. You do your job. After work, if you dont like a guy, you dont hang out with him. Lee, Ramirez, and Dempster can go out with their families and MB and momma Bradley can talk about how whiteys against them while they roll around in whiteys money. As long as hes doing his job on the field, the rest is none of my business, and certainly not worth the team taking a $20 million bath. Hug it out mother [expletive].
  8. I remember back in 2005 trying to tell myself that it was OK to root for the White Sox in the playoffs and World Series, that it was good to have a WS Champ in town. I couldnt make it happen and I rooted for the Red Sox, Angels, and even the Astros to beat them all the way.
  9. Lets look at it this way. Assuming Soriano and Soto rebound from horrid seasons, the team is good enough to survive with Fox or Hoffpauir in RF(Kosuke in CF) or Colvin or Reed in CF(Kosuke in RF). If that doesnt work out, we should still be in good enough position to aquire a better player than Cameron at the trade deadline. Now if Soriano and Soto both have horrible seasons again, chances are that Mike Cameron wont be enough to save us anyway.
  10. One thing Ive thought about is say Ramirez is healthy all season, and this hypothetically translates to a better May and June. say were 5-8 games in 1st by the time the trade deadline rolls around. Do the Cardinals still trade their #1 prospect for Matt Holliday, and if they dont, do they still have the ridiculous August that they had?
  11. He has no business starting a MLB game right now. I wish the FO would stop being jackasses and just let him sit in the minors for a full season and work on stuff. Instead of jacking him around from the minors and majors 20 times a season. While having him up in the pen throughout the season at this point is stupid, I don't see the harm in letting him get an actual start right now with the Cubs all but out of it and the minor league season done. And I don't see the point of wishing bad on Samardzija at this point, considering he's already approaching his 25th birthday, has burned 3* option years, has ammassed over 400 professional innings on top of the 200 college innings and pretty much needs to start performing in the majors next year or be considered a lost cause. *I believe it's 3 since he signed his major league deal in January 2007, and has at one point been optioned back to the minors in all 3 subsequent seasons. Plus, its been a pretty brutal season for Brewer fans, so the least we can do is give them 1 enjoyable evening.
  12. If his choices are coming back to Chicago and dealing with the fans, media, etc. or asking for his release, what would Bradley do? The MLBPA is better than the NFL union but if Bradley doesn't show up to ST, do the Cubs have to pay him? Another way around this is for Rickets to fire Hendry and then the new GM can say that Bradley gets a do over and they put all this behind them. If anything, I think its more likely to come down to Lou or Bradley than Hendry or Bradley.
  13. Oh my God, HE'S MARK-FREAKIN'-DEROSA. Its been 4 years, and Sox fans wont stop whining about trading away the great Aaron Rowand, so we might have to get used to this for a while. While DeRosa would have been helpful when Ramirez was out, I cant see him having been much of a difference maker when we were getting Ike Turnered by the Rockies, Phillies, and Dodgers in early August.
  14. Sure, he has a .922 OPS and 43 home runs, but he strikes out to much and hes not even left handed, so who the hell needs trash like that. Give me a scrappy middle infielder over that any day.
  15. Weve all used or heard the comparisons to either drug addicts and their drug of choice, or the no good family member or spouse that you keep taking back no matter how many times they dissapoint or screw you over. That pretty much sums it up.
  16. Was Bud Black manager in SD when he had to restrain Bradley from attacking an ump and Bradley ended up twisting his knee or something? I doubt he wants to go through any of that again.
  17. This has slugfest written all over it. Cubs win 2-1.
  18. IMHO Cameron would= the 2009 equivelant of Jeromy Burnitz except that he's nothing like jeromy burnitz in any way Hes over the hill, mediocre at best, and we dont need him. Thats all the similarity I need. We already have 2 strong defensive outfielders who are streaky offensively.
  19. Let me be the first to call BS on this one. I don't deny that racism still exists, but I can't possibly imagine a racial slur against a 3-year old kid. Its all true. In fact, this amature video of Bradleys son was recorded after the game
  20. As I recall, it was a pretty big deal when they signed him.
  21. All we are saying, is give Z a chance
  22. IMHO Cameron would= the 2009 equivelant of Jeromy Burnitz
  23. Damn. damn, damn, damn. We all knew that there was the possbility that Milton would miss time due to injury. We all knew there was a good chance he wouldnt live up to his Arlington numbers, and we all knew there was a decent chance that Milton would run into some kind of problems, especially if the fans started booing him, but I dont think that theres anyone, including those who were warning Hendry against signing Bradley who would have imagined that things would have gotten quite this ugly.
