  1. There good enough to compete, just not a favorite. Greinke and Marcum just might make them favs for 2nd place in the division, but little else. Problem is, once Fielder leaves after this season, that pretty much kills their lineup.
  2. 1. Fukudome RF 2. Castro SS 3. Ramirez 3B 4. Pena 1B 5. Soto C 6. Soriano LF 7. Byrd CF 8. DeWitt 2B Not exactly a dazzling lineup, but its one thats solid all the way through. to round out the openeing day roster, Id expect OF Colvin OF Snyder/LaHair, probably LaHair due to the ability to play 1st as well IF Barney IF Baker C Hill :( SP Zambrano SP Dempster SP Wells SP SIlva SP Cashner? if Gorz traded, otherwise in pen BP Marmol BP Wood BP Marhsall BP Guzman BP Grabow BP 2 of Berg, Russell, Samardzjia, Gaub, Stevens, Schlitter, Caridad etc.
  3. Yep, you got that right. If this deal actually goes through, they could make a lot of noise next season. Man, I really hope we sign Webb soon. Too many team have seen and liked whast they saw from Webb for me to have any lingering interest in him. Im not saying hes done, but hes hes not ready yet.
  4. Still not as good as Carpenter, Wainwright, Garcia, and Westbrook though. Besides, the package doesnt seem that spectacular, and I really cant see the Angels, Rangers, or Yankees not swooping in at this point.
  5. [b2B Signal] Cubs get Greinke Han Ram Royals get Gorzalanny DeWitt Fuld Marlins get Chirinos JR Mathes
  6. I wonder who the A's will trade him to in July.
  7. considering the recent trend of contracts to middle relievers that make Grabows look good, this is a hell of a deal. The only sad thing is that he'll be making less than Grabow and maybe even Koyie Hill.
  8. Just pump him full of HGH and put him in the rotation because I have the feeling that they're about to call it an off season.
  9. Whats up with the recent trend of bad teams signing aging vets? IE Pirates/Overbay, D Backs/Mora, Padres/Lee, A's/Matsui? Maybe it could be argued that Cubs/Pena falls into this catagory.
  10. I could see the Cubs missing out on Webb and Garza and the money buring a hole in Hendrys pocket so he signs Wood just to say he did something.
  11. So is it pretty safe for Phillies and Red Sox fans to purchase their 2011-2014 World Series tickets?
  12. Lets see, I doubt the Rays will move Garza to the Yanks. Pavano and the Yanks parted under extremely bad terms, so they'll be forced to either trade for Greinke or let the Red Sox run off with the division.
  13. Holy [expletive], move over Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, and Avery, who never had an offense like the Phillies backing them,
  14. I thought Id post this due to the lack of recent Webb news. Remember when every player wanted to play for the Cubs, which coincedently ended when Hendry lost his bottomless money pit?
  15. not even close colvin blows and snider is the second coming of jose canseco. Ignore the fact snider has been slightly better than Alex Gordon in the bigs. Does that mean Snider will blow the whistle on Steroid Scandal Part 2? And go bankrupt appear on countless reality shows.
  16. If all the Royals wanted for Greinke is those 2 guys, would Archer, Colvin, and 1 more solid prospect be enough? Colvin is pretty comparable to Snider, though a few years older, however, Archer isnt quite at Drabeks level as a prospect. Perhaps throw in one of J Jax, Carpenter, Guyer, Chirinos, or Castillo.
  17. I too have been foolishly checking the Brandon Webb thread for Brandon Webb news.
  18. That would explain why Hendry hasn't pulled the trigger yet. I could see Hendry trading Chirinos, Lee, and J. Jackson in a trade, but I highly doubt he would trade B. Jackson, ARcher or McNutt. trade By all means, trade Lee, Jackson, and Archer/McNutt for Garza so NSBB can finally band together and lynch Jim Hendry.
  19. actually the last time we beat the nats we ended up with soriano's contract, so i hope they continue beating us on free agents As I recall, the Soriano sweepstakes was down to the Angels and Phillies who each had 4-5 year deals before Hendry swooped in with his atrocity of a contract. Aramis had just opted out of his contract, and it appeared as though it was rebuilding time.
  20. This won't be any problem at all. Carpenter, Jackson, Lake, and Vitters. Beyond those four, I wouldn't get too worried about anybody. Lake is nowhere near ready for a full year in the majors. Sommer and Schafer are both guys Id be interested for in the future, and Im not quite ready to let Ryan Flaherty go for nothing.
  21. I wonder if the Rule 5 drafting of Mason Tobin and immediately sending him to Texas has anything to do with a deal in the works here.
  22. In the next 3-5 years, only the Yankeesand Red Sox ill be able to afford the decent free agents.
