  1. Haha, that's like a who's who of bum pitchers. I see a bunch of guys who put together nice little (or not so little) careers pitching, and Sergio Mitre. Where are they? Standing behind those guys who maybe had a decent season or 2 at best?
  2. In case anyone was in the least bit concerned.
  3. The rank and file of our bullpen was actually pretty solid before they started having to pitch in late innings and higher leverage situations. Maybe it's a testament to the importance of late inning relievers. Or maybe we just have a bullpen full of mop up men who aren't familiar with any other situation. Or both.
  4. And it never looks any less awesome. AND the Reds wouldn't have Mat Latos. Who hasn't been particularly good for The Reds so far anyway.
  5. Soriano and Barney don't solve anyone's problems. In Detroit, Soriano would be what, a 7 hitter? msybr 8. Assuming he could get back to at least his 2011 form, I don't think that anyone would mind that. Also, their 2 2B each have <.200 BA and well <.500 OPS, so Barney or even Baker would be an upgrade there. Not that I expect it, but assumingthat we did send them a package of Dempster and Soriano (we'd eat most-all of the contract), Barney or Baker would probably be attractive to them as a throw in.
  6. We tend to have good luck againt Halladay, but everyone tends to have good luck against Volstad, so who knows.
  7. I bet our's might be the worst as far as runs per inning. We've gotten a lot of quality starts leaving the bullpen only so many innings to work their awful magic.
  8. That was just too awesome for words. I hate our bullpen.
  9. Imagine a lineup of 1. Soriano 2. DeRosa 3. Lee 4. Hamilton 5. Aramis 6. Edmonds 7. Soto 8. Cajun who will remain nameless Eta: since this is a fantasy world, I suppose that a 17 year old Starlin Castro could have played SS instead of the other guy.
  10. Pretty annoying that Sullivan would rather criticize Castro's "inability" to lay down a bunt rather than the decision to have him do so, but w/e. yeah shocking that a guy who hasn't been asked to bunt in a game in a year and a half didn't do so effectively. Come on, he had an entire offseason tournament to learn.
  11. Isn't DeWitt's D Day upon us? Maybe Hoyer and Epstein are so bogged down with offers of top prospect packages that they need to wait until the last minute to decide and they'll make the announcement of where they'll be sending his talents via TV special.
  12. Anyone else catch Brett Lawrie going ape [expletive] and spiking his helmet at an ump? @Deadspin: VIDEO: A bad day for umpires continues, as Bill Miller gets hit by Brett Lawrie's helmet & then a beer thrown by a fan http://t.co/YdImFOMy
  13. Are you aware of the evil you're about to bring upon this thread? Somebody was going to eventually, figured I'd get it out of the way. While it never was to be, I wish I lived in a world in which Josh Hamilton joined Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Soto, and DeRosa in '07-'08, although 2010 is when he really exploded.
  14. Are you aware of the evil you're about to bring upon this thread?
  15. A very good sidearm relief pitcher for the Braves from 2006-2011. He's been out with injury this season. Shoulder related I believe.
  16. Because Reddick is just over a year older than Jackson, has big league success and do far is the first A's position player since Miguel Tejada to put up good offensive numbers.
  17. Much of this is so crazy it hurts, but here goes Trade Brett Jackson and Travis Wood to Oakland for Josh Reddick Bryan LaHair and prospects to Twins for Josh Willingham David DeJesus to Tigers for Rick Porcello Soriano+cash to someone for fringe prospects Sign Brandon McCarthy or Anibal Sanchez Mike Adams 3/15 Bobby Jenks/Pete Moylan 1/2.5 w/incentives 1. Campana CF 2. Castro SS 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Willingham LF 5. Reddick RF 6. Stewart 3B 7. Soto/Castillo C 8. Cardenas 2B Bench Clevenger/Castillo Bench Barney Bench Sappelt Bench Lake SP Garza extend SP Demp 2/20 SP McCarthy/Sanchez SP Shark SP Porcello CL Mike Adams BP Marmol BP Moylan/Jenks BP Russell BP Beliveau BP Cabrera BP Bowden
  18. And a 3B. We really need to find a way to get him and LaHair in the lineup together.
  19. If Lake hasn't rewarded your optimism so far in his short time back, you're a very hard man to please.
  20. STOP LETTING YADIER MOLINA BEAT YOU CUBS. Too bad we don't have Ted Lilly to steamroll his ass again. Games like this ruin my day, even if I didn't see so much as a single pitch.
  21. The Cubs need to stop the whole get a run, give a run crap.
  22. Decent amount of Ks, and a not so decent amount of walks. Looks like we have a poor mans Casey Weathers here, and even the rich mans Casey Weathers sucks.
  23. Weird Trivia: His give name is Robert Meiklejohn MacDougal. Not as awesome a middle name as Waitforit, but a good one none the less.
