    Probably not, since most foreign leagues will be in full swing during that time frame. That's why the World Cup, Gold Cup, Euro '08, etc. are all in the summer. I was more referring to any cups next summer or any meaningful qualifying games before world cup qualifying starts in a year. one calendar year of friendlies seems pointless, space out the world cup and gold cup a bit more.

    what is scheduled for the national team for the next few years? i'd imagine '10 world cup qualifying starts next year, is there any competition before then that will have matches that have meaning?

    is there still any question that adu will play for the usmnt? i remember in the past we've discussed his possible playing for ghana, has he come clear about what he wants to do?

    agreed. maybe they weren't try to be as obnoxious with this design because they were only nfc championship rings. if they had won the super bowl, i'd bet, it would be just as crammed with diamonds as the rest of them.

    wow. i think this contract says a lot about the bears interest in keeping the core of this team together for the next 3-4 years.

    and hopefully Champions League appearances. well, benfica is qualified for the third round, which is august 14/15 and august 28/29. hopefully this transfer is finished and adu has found his way into a first team spot.

    I have both channels and watch both regularly. From what I remember, you're more a fan of the English game, so I would definitely recommend FSC. Its EPL heavy with the majority of the their saturday/sunday games being from England, they carry FA games, have a Sky Sports News which is a great example of how sports show be covered (ahem...espn.) GOLTV has La Liga, Bundelisa, and South/Central American football. They had Serie A from Italy but FSC is covering it exclusively starting in August. For me if I had to choose, it would definitely be FSC, because I'm a huge Chelsea fan and enjoy coverage of the English game. All depends on your taste in football.

    Here'san interesting article from Vanity Fair about the Ivory Coast football team. It spotlights Didier Drogba (one of my personal favorites) and the struggles the country has been enduring because of its civil war. football has seemed to play a role in reducing the violence and trouble in the country. Also, David Beckham's debut for the Galaxy vs. Chelsea will be on ESPN, July 21st at 7:00.

    right now, the best player in the world is either cristiano ronaldo or kaka. i really think in a few more years messi will eclipse them both, mostly because he's been so brilliant at such a young ago, and he's playing on one of the best teams in the world, while makind deep runs into the champions league every year. ronaldo definitely has gotten a bad rap because he's viewed as a pretty boy, and his antics at the world cup. he does try to be too cute with his dribbling and some absurd passing attempts. all that included, he's still one of the best in the world. all the more amazing i think he put up his best season this past year, while getting pounded by the english press and by the fans on the road. he's class, but annoying as hell.

    scott boras says he'll be getting 30 million per with his new deal he signs.

    messi is going to be the best player in the world in 2 years. he's not far from it right now, but the fact that he's just turned 20 years old about 2 weeks ago, makes his future brighter than we can imagine.
