Why? Most of these are established players. Is that any excuse for how poorly this team has played? The offense is toothless, there is no plate discipline, guys are making stupid errors, and the bullpen has been mismanaged. Plus you have roster moves like allowing Shawn Camp and Carlos Marmol to toil on the team. If anything, when established players under perform, it says a lot about a manager and his staff. The jury is very much out if Svuem is the right guy for the job. I think you are missing the point. These aren't high caliber established players that have underperformed. This roster has blown since before Sveum showed up. A toothless offense is frustrating, but it has little to do with the manager and more to do with the identity of the players who make up that toothless lineup. The jury is out, but this doesn't tell us much. Managers do not matter, unless they F things up. This is a bad roster that has played poorly, the same old same old.
