  1. Putting Philly on that list is absurd. It's Amaro. If I was a fan of them, I'd be hating things right now, but from a fairness standpoint, I guess their current situation kind of mirrors ours from a few years back. Their first sub .500 season since 2002, a couple years removed from a 100 win season, several 90 win seasons, five straight playoff appearances, 2 NL pennants and a World Series title? That's quite a mirror.
  2. He's pretty much married to a 4-3, cover 2/quarters based scheme. Not sure if you guys want that or not. Fine with me. Defense doesn't have to be great. Just has to be average. The bend but don't break style is fine if you aren't constantly breaking.
  3. No need to prioritize position beyond the typical prioritization that ranks pass rushers ahead of most other positions. I'd lean defense in the first but wouldn't hesitate to a take a higher rated offensive player.
  4. The Bucs should bring back Lovie.
  5. Putting Philly on that list is absurd.
  6. Probably deservedly so. That's a talented team.
  7. Don't kid yourself into thinking it doesn't need a lot of work. This offense was handcuffed quite a bit this year with the need to play 6 lineman at a time.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. There are some teams that it'd legitimately be hard to continuously pull for over time. I've complained about being cheap at times, but that may have been Angelo moreso than McCaskey. Some of the biggest NFL disaster teams are the biggest spenders. True too. I think my main gripe was more of a weird allocation of funds by Angelo than a true lack of spending. My problems with Angelo were that he did not find an NFL caliber OC to run things and allowed the defense first, special teams second, offense third mentality of Lovie Smith to determine everything. Then his horrible handling of the offensive line depth between the Columbo draft and Williams draft, and finally, the couple of complete disaster drafts, starting with the past Super Bowl one.

I've complained about being cheap at times, but that may have been Angelo moreso than McCaskey. Some of the biggest NFL disaster teams are the biggest spenders. And the Bears were never particularly cheap. They spent big quite often, they just ignored some important spots and/or failed miserably in a few others.
  10. As annoying as Mike McCaskey was, the plethora of shitshow organizations in this league really makes me appreciate the Bears for not being a disaster.
  11. So if Cutler does leave, I think you might as well trade Marshall as well.
  12. For veteran minimum? You likely need a slew of LB help next season, and he's another body to throw in the pile. The young guys look terrible and could use some veterans pushing them. I'd rather spend the vet minimum money on someone else. Someone that could conceivably play 16 games. Sure, ideally you can get a guy who could play 16 games. But when looking at vet minimum contributors, you are already scraping the bottom of the barrel of flawed players.

  15. Drew Magary ‏@drewmagary 11m Remember: Whoever coaches the Vikes next has to play two years in the frozen college joint where Favre's brain died. ATTRACTIVE JOB!
  16. More importantly you have to figure out how willing he is to hit opposing batters.
  17. Hope that does more than it did in Philly.
  18. Probably want to give them all a shot for 5 touchdowns so they can trade for first round picks.
  19. Three turnovers, three touchdowns and a couple turnover on downs.
  20. Why would he go there?
  21. If that does happen, it happened after *two* championships. I'm not exactly going to cry myself to sleep. Plus it's not happening
  22. I would think some of it counts against this year's cap and its spread really thin over the duration of the deal. It also locks up the best Kicker in the league. Not a horrible signing.... Only 1.5 left on this years cap, so not much. It can't spread really thin considering how big of a contract it is. Especially for a kicker.
