  1. Who’s got two Ls and two Es in his last name and has been added to the major league coaching staff? #Males
  2. How does this narrative continue? The bears HAVE NOT invested heavily in their roster.
  3. Since it is almost certain QB will be a need this off-season, the trend tells us Ryan Poles will ignore the position entirely then sign a random veteran in august and trade a 2nd round pick for one in October.
  4. There is no value in this move whatsoever. That’s not hot take stuff, it’s just a fact. The player might stay and produce, but the means of acquisition are a gross misuse of assets, necessitated in Poles’ mind by his own failure to do the job.
  5. I don’t see why it signals that.
  6. Williams resigned / was forced to resign. This is being reported as a firing, but apparently not for football reasons. either it’s related to the Williams situation, or perhaps he was outed as a mole or source for the SNF crew’s anti Fields rants.
  7. And now the RB coach has been fired this coaching staff is a complete mess.
  8. The bears beat writers are so lazily covering this sweat trade. They all say, yeah it’s a lot to give up for half a season when you aren’t contending, but they needed pass rush help. None of them are reporting on the fact that they need pass rush help because Poles failed to address the need for pass rush the past two offseason. this is terrible asset management and another in a long list of examples why the bears can’t risk allowing poles to screw up a potentially franchise altering 2024 draft and offseason. they have to move on.
  9. Sure, before it’s official, but big contracts are always reported before becoming official.
  10. So four hours or so and we haven’t heard anything about an extension for Sweat? If there isn’t one, this is a truly awful move.
  11. Their own 1st pick sits at 3 right now, with some bad teams trending worse. I could see them viewing Carolina, Arizona, Minnesota and Green Bay as winnable games that would leave them at 6-11. That would make their 2nd rounder somewhere in the 37-39 range.
  12. Probably not in Poles’ mind. If he can get a 2nd he’ll call it a wash on the picks even if it goes from 33 to 60. If he can get a 3rd he’ll probably be just as happy. He drafted a half dozen defensive backs* for a reason. *citation needed.
  13. It was reported by dc media that a mystery team wanted to trade for him and sign an extension. The bears were that team, apparently. I’m not sure another team wanted to do it. but it’s beyond ridiculous to avoid addressing an obvious need in both the draft and free agency in back to back seasons and then trading a draft pick for the rights to sign a guy to fix your problem. This is especially true when none of your own picks have been impactful.
  14. I get “they agree with Kyle’s faith in Bagent” vibes with this trade, meaning they think they can steal some wins and make that 2nd rounder closer to 40.
  15. Delay, deny and deflect Not paying players is the new market efficiency. People watched the Patriots spend two decades letting guys walk away and forget about all the other things that made them great. Front offices get criticized for wasting money all the time. “Off-season champions” are routinely mocked. The process is all that matters. As long as future value is theoretically involved you can always convince a good section of a fan base that things are looking up. And not spending ownership’s money is one way to extend your employment without the pesky demand of trying to win games. Ryan Poles wanted to lose games in 2022. He did not care about trying to win in 2023 and if he gets a chance to return in 2024, I do not think piling up victories will be high on his priority list.
  16. Macklin Celebrini and two guys named Cole.
  17. They can’t get out of their own way, let alone their defensive zone. Reichel is being wasted with his garbage line mates. I think he should play with Bedard. Athanasiou is nothing
  18. In retrospect, I saw the coyotes goals and they weren’t soft at all. this team sucks
  19. I don’t know what a good goalie prospect looks like but my guess is Soderblom isn’t one. the hawks are on their way to a good tank win against a fellow cellar dweller in the desert. But Bedard scored. So that’s neat.
  20. What would be the advantage of putting him on IR? A roster spot? For whom? The top of this roster is bad, the bottom of it is completely worthless. They aren’t competitive this season, so there is no value in absolute best game day roster for weeks 7-10, and a marginal upgrade on special teams when there was/is a chance Fields could be back before IR would allow
  21. An argument? It’s way beyond a mere argument that can be made. Poles has not done a single thing to deserve to come back. He’s made the team much worse than it was as when he inherited it and there is no reason to believe he can fix it. These are his players and his players suck at football.
  22. Luke Getsy may be available
  23. There is nothing logical about Kyle’s nonsensical constant 180 degree turns
