  1. But you are talking about putting up the average Joes in typical bare bones condos, while Tanaka will probably be put into a unit that would rent for $25k/month or even much more.
  2. With football and hockey, but with baseball, it's a lot harder to say. Seems like there's just overall a lot more rumor-mongering and "inside info" that turns out to be wrong. Buster Olney maybe? Just go ahead and follow a handful of Chicago area media types, who will pass along anything of value anyway. Then use it to follow whatever peaks your interest outside of sports.
  3. He's either deciding now or has decided The (-_-;) at the end means he's nervous/anxious We know that he hates money or loves it or doesn't care about money and hates butts or loves them.
  4. If weather was ever going to play a part I sure am glad that the east coast is dealing with this now.
  5. I do like the idea of PATs being made slightly more difficult. Put it on the 15 and snap from there. Does the two point still start from the 2 and a half? Can you fake it from the 15? Is that one or two? I think you need to put the 2 point try closer, whether it remains where it is currently or not can be up for debate. A fake from the 15 would have to be a 2.
  6. Wait I can't do that all the time? ct, bringing the takes:

  8. I agree, I think it's ridiculous. I wonder if it is somehow motivated by a desire to reduce the money paid to kickers and long snappers. This year it appears the typical team attempted 41 or 42 XP and 30 or 31 FG. Obviously the emphasis is on the FG when it comes to hiring those guys, but if you have 40 less long snaps every year, and 40 less kicks, are teams going to emphasize their special teams specialists a little less?
  9. Unless the iPhone just displays it differently I can't see them being the same. His style was unique and consistent.
  10. I don't know about that For 2015, the Yanks have A-Rod(38), Teixeira(33, 34 in April), CC(33), Ellsbury(30), McCann(30), Brendan Ryan(32), and Matt Thornton(37) under contract for close to 127 mill. For 2016, they've got the same group, minus Ryan and Thornton for slightly under 124 mill. For 2017, they've got 64 mill invested in A-Rod, Ellsbury, and McCann. They have one of the worst systems in the game to pull from and not much flexibility to make major acquisitions, as it is. And old as dirt. I would take our current situation and a capped 110 mill payroll for the next 5 years than theirs, capped at 200, for that same time. And we have a TV deal coming, to where ours won't be stuck, while theirs very likely is going to hover in that range. After a luxury tax reset nyy payroll is going way up.
  11. I couldn't care less about him. Haven't read the suntimes in a very long time. You should probably pity him rather than hate him though. He was fed a BS story about debt and then was late to realize how stupid it was and the real problem has just been the cubs tanking by choice.
  12. Oh yeah, I have an irrational hatred for Pete Carroll. [expletive] is a truther. I hope someone asks him what he thinks about 9/11 on media day so he's exposed to the whole country for the raging douchebag he is. You realize that the % of people that believe that 9/11 was a shadyass event is actually extremely high. I cant remember what newspaper did a poll on it, but it was something like 40%. That's not a reason for hating Pete Carroll. We got ourselves another truther here. Mind if I call you Asner?
  13. As opposed to the brilliant triumvirate of David, imb and leftcoastcubfan
  14. I've only lived here for four years, but I don't know a single runaway or heroin addict I've only visited four or five times and my only guess is you've never been outside.
  15. Everyone knows the Cubs are in a bad place in certain ways, but Wittenmyer clearly has an agenda at this point. Stop playing devil's advocate in his defense. It's not just "certain ways", it's the only way that matters. Why are you the judge jury and executioner when it comes to who can be defended? Some people seem more interested in defending an owner who has purposefully underspent and has had the team do nothing but lose, but get pissed at media members who call them out for it. Wittenmeyer is the debt structure guy. Which you don't believe has anything to do with the Cubs not spending. So, why are YOU defending him? I'm not defending anybody, my intent was to offend David and the Apologists.
  16. Kinda sounds like no one in this front office has decided to talk to him behind the scenes much. Kinda sounds like the team is in a bad place and has been for several years. 17. Many many more times
  18. Why did they run away from heroine (sic) addicts? Oops, I'll blame that on auto-fill
  19. They are being unnecessarily cheap and he is making excuses for it because he's apparently completely fine with it. It's called context
  20. It's not hipsters it's just socially awkward weirdos that ran away from home and heroine addicts.
  21. You totally missed the point The point being that you are totally cool with the ownership for being unnecessarily cheap.   What Cub fan would be happy that the owner of their favorite team is being cheap and unnecessarily so on top it? Give me a break. The one that just posted a bunch of bs excuses for the cubs being so cheep just above here.
  22. Did the other 19 get hurt? Thornton 's not playing. Thought it was bouwmeester
  23. Because of three tweets? Or did he write a terrible article somewhere? That "all our guys are injured" tweet is typical of his tweeting while one of his teams is losing. He's a known and self-confessed terrible NE/Boston fan; this isn't news. Thus the word "keeps"
  24. Yay to pats losing now hope the same for seattle
