    These guys were using the good stuff, that will probably end up prolonging their lives and allow them to live out their childhood fantasy and live a financially independent life.

    Sure would be awesome to seem them in the playoffs!!! I said I'd love to see the teams involved with the Marlins one of the 10 teams. I'm sorry which of these teams would you rather see in there: Reds, Cardinals, Dodgers, Mets, Phillies? The Padres, Pirates, Nats, DBacks, Rockies would be more ideal than Miami, but whatever, again one of 10 teams. I would like to see the Cubs involved. I'm not getting any enjoyment out of seeing the Marlins there, regardless of who it keeps out.

    I liked baseball better then. I hate admitting that.... Actually I liked the era between the steroid area and this current dead ball era, where not everyone was doping, but some guys still were. Less guilt enjoying that product. Why feel guilty? You weren't doping...or were you???? What do you expect from a Marlins fan?

    ah. to answer your question, I can't think of any good examples of a DH-only prospect getting much of a return in trade. On the other hand, first base prospects have been traded for very good returns when the bat is big enough. I might be way off, but didn't the Cards have a "1B" prospect several years back that was pretty much viewed as a DH? They traded him as part of a package for an OK return I thought. Ben W something maybe? Either way he was a big bat no position guy that never ended up making it. Brett Wallace from wiki:

    Ah, the old Vogelbach fallacy. As others have pointed out, huge difference. The Vogelbach fallacy was that his bat was going to carry him to the majors no matter what his defense was. But he was drafted out of HS and his bat has never lived up to the reputation of his batting practice prowess. The best college bat is an entirely different ballgame.

    I know this is common in college baseball but why are baseball players allowed to hire agents and be drafted without losing eligibility but football and basketball players aren't? Always wondered that. Baseball players don't have agents before they sign, they're called advisors. It's basically a joke. It also probably has something to do with the fact baseball players can spend the first 6-10 years of their career making barely the minimum, while football and basketball players pretty much start earnings big bucks right away and only wait 3-4 years for their big payday. Baseball drafts both high school and college players. You have to allow those high school players to get advice when they are committing themselves to an organization for a decade with no out but retirement.

    He bitches about them using terms like pitch and kit, but then complains about them using terms like PKs because the rest of the world doesn't. He wants them to treat it like they do other American sports, but then complains about the nickname Deuce. Although he was spot on with this stuff: There is absolutely a massive amount of affectation and fakery in a good portion American soccer fans. This guy didn't do a good job writing about it though.

    I feel like OMC should be doing the honors on this hallowed day. The first of three straight day games, which I think might be the first that has happened this year, but maybe not. The advertising firm of Schwarber & Stinnett will be much talked about and hopefully merged with a larger more talented firm containing the next Dick Whitman. The Cubs starts Hammel and face the stock-up store. Keep sweeping please.

    If you aren't middle infield or third already in college it is very unlikely you can pick up third to pro standards.

    it may have more to do with playing San Diego 4 times(2-2) and the Mets(2-0). Prior that 17 games they had just gone 1-5 vs STL/ATL. This is a team with good pitching and very,very streaky players. When we lose we will keep it close, when our offense rolls, we win by a lot, but that simply doesn't happen often enough. We have Rizzo and Valbuena above .800 ops, and then Castro is above .700 and no other regulars above .700- That's just not a potential .500 team. Something something run environment. Average OPS this year is .707 (or close). Of course having only three regulars over 700 and multiple below 650 and having even that weak ops propped up by slg and dragged down by an awful obp means you suck.
