  1. You're just looking for ways to be disappointed. What a [expletive], miserable way to live. You say this like the Cubs draft was some runaway train of awesomeness and kyle is nitpicking the little things. They had the fourth pick and didn't come away with a really exciting player. It's fair to not be particularly impressed by it. lmao what a hilarious way to misrepresenting his post no. pointing out that a top 200 draft pick is not a thing that matters is not evidence of searching for disappointment. Nobody but the outlet that ranked those 200 guys would ever talk about how many top 200 players were taken.
  2. What does that have to do with anything. The question wasn't whether they made the right decision. They were in a crappy situation and made the most of it, but that does not make the draft good. As it turns out it probably would have been better to win more games in 2013, oh well.

  4. Just look at this garbage that Haugh writes. What the hell is that?
  5. schwarber on with haugh on 87.7thegame. Haugh says he wants to change the core four to fab five. I want to hit him. These morons are impressed that a kid who grew up a Reds fan actually knows who Johnny Bench was.
  6. So the Cubs entire draft grade hinges on whether Schwarber can catch? Seems a little silly. Most drafts hinge on whether your first round pick becomes a valuable player.
  7. except instead of crushing it into the stands he laid down a bunt to beat the shift you mean, play the game the right way?
  8. Man that really makes me want to watch a Bears Hard Knocks. I forgot that Chris Harris was a coach. I didn't realize Jordan Lynch was a 38 year old high school coach.
  9. do all the players march in the opening ceremony?
  10. that's haha funny
  11. Love this winning [expletive]. Love Vegas too
  12. This is the 11 year anniversary of Kerry Wood vs Roger Clemens and Funny Side going for the Triple Crown at the Belmont.
  13. I'm pretty proud of my relief effort here with David bailing at the beginning of the streak. Cubs go with Samardzija in another afternoon game against UM's favorite Marlins, who counter with Wolf. Like Theo said, the Cubs are coming fast. (or was that Jed?) If a mod has something to add, put it in your own post.
  14. On the bright side this makes it more likely the Marlins make the playoffs!!!
  15. well that was the worst return from a conference call I've had in a while
  16. I wonder how those conversations/relationships work for these guys. The system makes it almost mandatory to draft college seniors. Are some of these guys getting drafted people who never would have been before? Are they ending up getting paid any more with the top 10 status, or is the discount back to the old model?
  17. Yes, the Cubs are actually playing better and we can't just be satisfied with that since it's only been at home and they have a bunch of home games left. jesus, every time somebody expresses concern about this team they get criticized for not enjoying where they are at right now.
  18. so is he considering giving up baseball?
  19. I saw this, and I don't really get it. So every guy the took up to pick #199 was in the BA top 200 and that means they're killing it? I wouldn't be shocked if the Cubs are the only team to do that this year. There are teams that either go way off the reservation (according to BA's board) or will draft cheap senior signs. So in BA's eyes, they're killing it. Which is only really possible when your first two guys are underslots.
  20. I saw this, and I don't really get it. So every guy the took up to pick #199 was in the BA top 200 and that means they're killing it? Killing it by not taking any scrubs, I guess.
  21. Wow, seems like an omission on their part. Oregon's ace this year, started for part of the year on Fridays last year too. Works upper 80s from what I remember. He's also a junior, which would seem to indicate they can't low ball him. Maybe they know he's desperate to get some cashe
