  1. There will be guys out there for the 11th+ I thought slot money was for 1-10 rounds.
  2. theoretically neither guy should get slot. Will there be anybody worth throwing cash at in the third or later?
  3. Sweep the meats, sweep the meats, come on out and sweep the meats. F you rangers fans.
  4. If you aren't middle infield or third already in college it is very unlikely you can pick up third to pro standards.
  5. Reflects poorly on the guy they drafted.
  6. it may have more to do with playing San Diego 4 times(2-2) and the Mets(2-0). Prior that 17 games they had just gone 1-5 vs STL/ATL. This is a team with good pitching and very, very streaky players. When we lose we will keep it close, when our offense rolls, we win by a lot, but that simply doesn't happen often enough. We have Rizzo and Valbuena above .800 ops, and then Castro is above .700 and no other regulars above .700- That's just not a potential .500 team. Something something run environment. Average OPS this year is .707 (or close). Of course having only three regulars over 700 and multiple below 650 and having even that weak ops propped up by slg and dragged down by an awful obp means you suck.
  7. If he was 2 on their list he's not signing for far under slot.
  8. That should be grounds for ending negotiations on the spot and walking out the room/hanging up the phone. On the contrary, it's evidence you are negotiating with morons who can be duped.
  9. He's must think he's still in Boston. To be fair, as a 40 year old that may be all he could get.
  10. He looked 70 while managing the cubs
  11. I know you don't draft at #4 based on need, but with our depth at middle infield, I really hate the idea of drafting someone who might not be able to hit. I love the idea of being able to add Schwarber/Conforto/Pentecost to a 2016 lineup that already includes Rizzo, Castro, Bryant, Baez, Soler. I would be an awful scout/general manager. Don't care about the organizational depth, the lack of hitting is bothersome.
  12. The homegrown core all predates Q.
  13. Keith Hernandez is having fun with the Cubs defense this inning.
  14. Wasn't Crawford like 26 when he started? Same with Niemi, while Huet was getting most of the time. Anyway, I have no idea who should or should not get more chances, I only interpret what the beats writers say about who is in Q's doghouse and who is in his good graces.
  15. What was so special about this groundball? He looked smooth but really? He fielded the ball then took it from his glove from behind/between his legs. That's the type of thing every high school player attempts to do and occasionally does smoothly.
  16. dear lord I hope this was a joke. Yeah, you have to trade Rizzo first, otherwise your trading partners will have you over a barrel.
  17. This year's crop is underwhelming. No one in this year's draft would be taken ahead of last year's top three. why wouldn't we take best available at 4? Because best available at 4 may only be incrementally better than 24 but will cost a hell of a lot more than 24. Under the new system it may be more useful to take the cheaper guy.
