  1. They are already at the sink or swim stage of their careers. They are what they are and seasoning isn't going to develop them further. Also, the cubs need 25 guys on the active roster. These two are filler.
  2. well then it's just a gawker story.
  3. that's about the only thing that can be said without getting oneself in trouble.

  5. I wonder who the friends commentary was in reference to. Maybe Samardzija, considering all the talk about Hendry and the ND coach being buddies and that playing a role in the Cubs drafting him and then giving him a big league contract to convince him to give up football?
  6. What exactly in there was remotely stupid? He's saying that the commentary about how good Russell is makes the Daily News article (which claims the Yankees could have easily beat the deal) look even worse than before.
  7. I hate stuff like this. There's nothing that makes the Cubs special or immune from the playoff crapshoot. There's no reason they can't be the Oakland A's. Not unless they also get Bud Selig to help them solve their stadium problems.
  8. Lineup G1 5:00 at LAK 6 Hernandez 8 Almora DH Vogelbach 7 Rademacher 2 Krist 9 McKinney 4 Amaya 3 Shoulders 5 Darvill P Scott
  9. Being on record saying it doesn't mean it is true. What is his motivation to say the guy they drafted wasn't the guy they liked best? Not letting the industry know how you evaluate players. If you make it seem like you actually strongly consider drafting a pitcher early even when you actually have no interest in doing that, they can't be certain that you are going to take the college bat every time. Maybe instead of all the injuries this year hurting the Cubs since they would have taken one of them, they actually welcomed the news to give them an excuse to draft a college bat that was ranked lower by most.
  10. Being on record saying it doesn't mean it is true.
  11. I kind of think no. They seem pretty adamant about taking elite bats whenever possible, and I would bet they had another bat in mind when the selection was still in doubt.
  12. Well,, that and he wasn't available.
  13. and all of them with the big club at some point next year, possibly some of them as groups They should roll them out like they did the throwback jerseys and era-centric promotions this year. A new call-up for every homestand with pre-game festivities and ceremonies that invite every player that once wore their uniform number (excluding Sammy Sosa of course).
  14. i [expletive] loved brian jordan He was very handsome
  15. Emery has a reputation* for targeting physical freaks, and here is a list of freaks going into the 2014 college season. http://msn.foxsports.com/college-football/story/2014/07/07/ranking-top-20-cfb-freaks-2014-college-football-preseason.html *the reputation may not be all that deserved.
  16. If you've ever heard a Mets broadcast of a cubs/mets game, you would know that isn't trolling as much as it is THE storyline in every game. There is a perception out there that makeup and defense remain huge questions and risks that could make his contract a problem.
  17. But people are saying that Soler fell because of injuries therefore Buxton has to fall because of injuries. It's a huge leap. Not really, if you believe wrist injuries are far more concerning to a hitters' long term success than broken shins and hamstring sprains. I wouldn't even drop Buxton lower than, say, 3 (behind Correa and Bryant). So you are whining about a lack of falling by 2 spots?
  18. But people are saying that Soler fell because of injuries therefore Buxton has to fall because of injuries. It's a huge leap. yeah, but wrist injuries seem way more worrisome than the injuries soler has had (not that they are to be taken lightly either) But Soler's injuries have proven to be a repetitive issue and because of that, three years into his pro career he hasn't amassed a season's worth of PA. Buxton's injury has not prevented him from already having proven himself over more than 700 PA by age 20. Unless you are assuming his injury has significantly altered his future and offset what he has done, there is no real reason to knock him down, regardless of how they view Soler's situation. It is completely different.
  19. He also has a twitter history, which the Cubs don't like.
