  1. Cool, hope the Bills whip them
  2. Kind of surprised the bears are hosting a game in London next year. Opponent TBD. I like a little 9 am kickoff now and again.
  3. Okay, well I guess that clear thing ups but I completely disagree with the sentiment. This team needs high end players. I have doubts about Steele repeating and I have next to zero expectations for Hendricks in 2024. pushing disappointing players down the depth chat is a good thing. I don’t care how much they cost.
  4. Saban, Carroll and possibly Belichik without jobs would be a real changing of the guard situation for the coaching community. Long live Andy Reid.
  5. If this guys ends up as the #5 then some dudes will probably be exceeding expectations. $17m is the cost of doing business if you want competent starting pitching capable actually being good.
  6. Eh. It was an answer in a press conference. Poles was never going to be the guy who made overtures to Harbaugh. If that happened it would be somebody like Warren or a board member reaching out to reps of Harbaugh. Poles had to keep arms length if he had any hopes of maintaining a relationship with his current head coach. The bears may or may not have talked with Harbaugh. Poles’s answer in a press conference has no baring.
  7. The #1 pick is the one good thing in their favor. Coaches who are good enough to pick their jobs are choosy, and the upper level guys who care about their future are going to view the bears job with skepticism. Generally speaking, a head coach with a very bad record who has had a ton of turnover on his staff already, is on a short leash. The candidates are going to have to weigh their faith in the bears getting better immediately to save their jobs. You don’t want your last job to end in a house cleaning. That puts a stain on your resume and down on the list of candidates for your next job. These guys always consider their path to the next job when deciding whether or not to take the current job. and not many guys are going to jump at the chance to coach Fields.
  8. I wasted five minutes trying to come up with a better title but I think you got it
  9. So you are completely unfamiliar with the idea of a coach killer in the NFL?
  10. I said fair or unfair. That’s how NFL reputations are built.
  11. No, that was not reported. It was insinuated by one person and walked back. people need to stop placing blame on stuff others than the football decision makers and players. It’s almost like people think of only these guys were left alone they’d be world beaters. Every NFL owner sucks. They are all over privileged dumbasses with tremendous egos who think they should have more input than they should. Some of them have lucked into hiring the right people. The bears problem is a football problem.
  12. Fair or unfair, they made a play for Fields and lost their jobs a year later. The 30,000 foot view is that guys lost their job with Fields as QB. And now the OC, QB and passing game coordinator lost their jobs with Fields as QB. Guys get coach killer reputations and there’s no way Fields won’t have that on him now.
  13. I don’t see why anybody would make that assumption. Poles handcuffed Eberflus with a bad roster and Eberflus took the bullets, and can be considered to have withstood the worst and improved the team. Poles probably feels loyalty to him for carrying out his plan. The McCaskeys want stability, yes. But at this point we can assume Poles wants Eberflus as his head coach. We need to stop assigning decision making to people other than those making decisions. It deflects blame. The 24 losses over the past two years are on Poles and Eberflus. Not Nagy. Not Pace. Not Ted Phillips. The Bears problem is entirely football people related. Football people making bad football decisions. It’s not more complicated than that.
  14. Doing the Bear Minimum Not a surprise. Most quality OCs won’t want to go into a situation with a guy poised to be a lame duck. The one thing they have going for them is the first overall pick. People already view Fields as a guy that got Nagy fired and now Getsy. there could be some weirdo who actually views himself as the guy to get the most out of Fields. But I doubt it.
  15. Sure, but I cannot imagine the blowback Poles would get for such a minimal return for first overall pick when it’s painfully obvious they need to upgrade QB and you have higher rated guys than were there last year.
  16. The first mock draft I read on the athletic has the bears trading with atlanta, moving down to 8 and getting a 2nd this year and 1st next year…, that’s it, that’s the whole trade. this is gonna be a longgggg four months
  17. There’s not a real one, just the theoretical one about chemistry which I don’t buy. If a guy wins the job over the incumbent, dudes will get over it. I guess the only downside is not getting what you thought you’d get in a trade later rather than now, but that’s negligible risk imo.
  18. Didn’t happen Monday, so no. but it was discussed
  19. Husband keeps his hands off wife for one full day Neighbor: ”Interested to see if Suzy still complains about her husband.”
  20. Sounds like more of a prediction than a rumor
  21. Exactly my point going into season. I stated prior to season that if Bears own pick was top 5, you can’t possibly trust Poles to make this once in generation opportunity to transform the team. To his credit(?), he made this team good enough to only pick 9. I see the argument for letting him do it. But if I’m Warren, and Poles recommends going into offseason with Eberflus still as head coach, that’s enough to tell me he’s not the guy to bring this team forward. If I’m Poles, I have to realize that loyalty to Eberflus is worthless. You have to fix the offensive infrastructure of this organization. You’ll never get a better chance at this opportunity.
  22. Black Monday came and went with nothing announced, not even rumored. Something has to happen eventually. it’s been quiet
  23. So what was the headcount on monday? Washington and Atlanta fired head coaches. A handful of teams either fired a coordinator or one resigned. Carolina canned the GM. pretty uneventful day, even if you take into account the three midseason firings. 5 feels like a low number with the amount of bad teams in this league.
