  1. I think it’s more like Poles is going to have Eberflus take the lead and find his guy with input, but if he comes up with a doozy Poles may use his veto power, fire Eberflus and start over. You have to try and convince these guys Eberflus isn’t a lame duck. The head coach is making this hire
  2. On the surface it certainly feels like a blatant info gathering opportunity, but he is qualified for the job and should be on the list. I do think Poles will have a lot of input, but Eberflus will have input. He’s married to Flus and seemingly is simpatico with him. I think he respects him too much to just hire his replacement in front of his face. But the next OC will have the inside track for the head coaching job IF the offense begins to click but the D slips and wins don’t add up. But if the plan works, Flus will hold down the job and the OC will be on other teams’ list.
  3. A quick review of this story tells me it’s entirely based on Huard’s assumption that the bears will want to run the ball first, second and third. And rarely pass. That seems entirely contradictory to the idea of drafting qb first overall.
  4. I think a lot of people have ridiculous expectations And a lot of coaches would flinch at reporting to Jerry when other options are on the table.
  5. Firing successful nfl coaches is a risky business. Jones realizes there isn’t a sure thing to replace him.
  6. Are Yankees still considered favorites on stroman?
  7. I do not see how they offset the haul from trading 1. They might get something halfway decent, but it won’t be big. It might be negligible, in which case I’d rather just hang on to Fields as a short term backup and emergency replacement if the new guy implodes as a rookie.
  8. Little nitpick there, but a competent offense isn’t enough. Build a potent offense and then supplement with competent defense.
  9. They’ve planted stories about who they would look to resign the day before the Foligno and Dickinson contracts. The big thing today was. “We might have too many draft picks and don’t need more.” They are loaded with prospects and picks but desperately need actual hockey players to skate with Bedard.
  10. And now Jason Dickinson signs 2 years $4.25m extension. He was making $2.65.
  11. Ryan Pace doesn’t run the Falcons. The team is in flux, but he is way down the list of decision makers in that organization. He’s not even listed as a part of the front office on the teams website. Pace might have affection for Fields and might recommend to the leadership that they acquire him, but the last time he traded picks to acquire Fields he lost his job.
  12. If they draft a TE early in the first nothing would preclude them from running 2 TE sets the majority of the time. A smart coordinator takes advantage of the opponents weaknesses by utilizing his team’s strengths
  13. He may be eligible for supplemental draft
  14. Hurts is not good. Blessed by elite roster and quality play design.
  15. Not a draft question, imo
  16. I’m responding to your comment about precedence and “if this works” it works. Sports went to pay cable decades ago. Americans pay to watch regular season games all the time. They pay to watch postseason games all the time. The precedent is set.
  17. How much do you think you pay for espn?
  18. Odds are he does not think they will
  19. The realities on the ground are Matt Eberflus is the head coach and they have no offensive system. They’ve never added positively to a QBs career in this kids lifetime. And there’s no sign that they’ve figured anything out on that side of the call. hesitancy to join this team is rational
  20. It doesn’t matter what you asked for. The nfl won’t allow it. it is very smart for QBs to try and avoid Chicago. They’re bad at this
  21. Is that better or worse than winning the offseason?
  22. Foligno resigned, 2 years, 4.5 aav. $4.5 million seems to be the going rate for guys that should be making $2.5m playing bottom 6 minutes on a good team. The Blackhawks have no talent on their team and aren’t trying. But they are playing real fast and loose with with cash flows for guys thay have no chance of being part of the next good Blackhawks team.
  23. Seems like the cubs have a Chicago problem
  24. It’s not very bears to have a former player go on and have great success in another place. Most disappointing former bears go on and stink in other places.
