and of course I just had to click on it. should this stupid thing happen? no. maybe the way it's originally framed is stupid (in asking "should they do this"), but all he's really doing is saying mike trout is so amazing and his contract is so amazing that it totally makes up for two awful contracts in hamilton and pujols, which is actually sort of amazing. i mean it's obvious that trout is awesome but those two contracts are disastrous already and he still manages to more than make up for them. But everybody who knows anything about baseball knows that guys in their first six years subsidize the established veterans. That wasn't an amazing discovery.

Nah, it's pretty awesome right now. EDIT - Fully expect jersey to tell me that it's not awesome and i'm not excited because they haven't done anything yet. It's been better than being a Bears fan.

mad dog? he's an incredibly famous radio guy who had a show with Mike Francesa for ~20 years before going to siriusxm. He has a siriusxm channel named after him. He's been on MLB network all year. He's national. For a sports talk radio guy he is about as big as you can get.

I was at an ALS fundraiser last night and Mattingly was honored. A coworker (Yankees fan) spoke with him briefly and asked, "what's it like dealing with Puig?" and Mattingly's answer was, "You have no idea." with an exasperated look. We have all come to a consensus that this means he is clearly going to get dealt, so there's that.

yep. As long as we are dreaming, let's follow that up with Bosio fixing Turner, Straily, and Doubront, and we actually start trading #4 SPs (preferably to the Mets, for ironical purposes) signing guys you can afford is not dreaming or magically fixing bad pitchers

The short answer is no, you probably aren't the only one. The longer answer is you should be the only one because passing on guys today in hopes of getting others guys a year from now is a great way to not get any guys. ...I'm not advocating getting no one. no one of consequence

I think of Sharp as the 6th best Blackhawk, maybe somebody in the 45-60 range across the NHL, and a guy who could theoretically be a top 2 player on some other rosters. He's the only guy on the roster they can both afford to give up and get some real quality in return while remaining among the elite teams. I've always thought of him as a trade chip, but I'm not that much in favor of it.
