  1. Nobody should be surprised by this. Annoyed? I guess. But surprised? No. No kidding. I don't understand how anyone could think any firings right now would do anything besides just making meatballs feel better. I would be fine with being treated like a meatball that needs some soothing. What would actually be soothed? You're just going to slide a placeholder from the same incompetent system into the job. It's not like they'd hire anyone worth a damn halfway through the season. Somebody who fucked up the Bears would get publicly shamed and fired for it, that would be cool.
  2. Bowen is one of the least meatbally former player turned-reporter that's in the industry right now. Surprising to see him so vocal about the lack of accountability. Well, I'll say this. 99 times out of 100 the touchy-feely stuff is crap. But this team has totally given up due in part to lack of leadership. And that leadership seems to be extremely touchy-feely.
  3. I'm not really sure why that is asking for too much. This is his 2nd year and they have taken a huge step back. This isn't a disappointing team losing games they should win. This is an awful team getting obliterated at a historical rate. If they were capable of being mediocre it may be asking too much, but this team is playing worse than any team in the league right now. I'm talking about firing him in the middle of the season. Coaches don't get fired in the middle of the season, if it would have happened, it would have happened during the bye. I mean, that's simply not true. Coaches do get fired in the middle of the season.

  6. Nobody should be surprised by this. Annoyed? I guess. But surprised? No. Yep. Few NFL teams make changes midseason (this isn't the hitting coach on a disappointing baseball team) and the Bears (at least to me) seem to be even more conservative than most franchises. I don't get the idea that few teams make changes midseason. Is there some sort of list proving this to be the case? Seems to me at least one or two teams fire their head coach during the season every year, and that doesn't even take into account coordinator or position coach changes.
  7. seriously dead man walking. Gotta love all the questions about benching Jay. Trestman has been fairly anti-Cutler in this one. THE ENTIRE TEAM BLOWS.
  8. he's closing his statements one minute in?
  9. first comment is on running the ball out too deep out of the end zone. has this issue been acknowledged by the team before?
  10. Chicago Bears ‏@ChicagoBears · 16s17 seconds ago #Bears coach Marc Trestman: "We finished yesterday as not a very good football team."
  11. Rich Campbell ‏@Rich_Campbell · 8s8 seconds ago Trestman has arrived and we are about to begin.
  12. He's late all the time to these. Oh, didn't realize that. Twitter seemed to think something might be up. Moon Mullin is worried he might miss the early bird special at Margaritaville.
  13. bernstein trying to throw a bone toward the idea that Trestman might be gone. these guys are covering all the bases so they can go back later and say they figured out what happened.
  14. He's late all the time to these. Tracey Myers retweeted John Mullin ‏@CSNMoonMullin · 1m1 minute ago Marc Trestman already 15 min late for press conference - insiders already said that he is still #Bears coach, but wonder if other moves?
  15. He's had a terrible month. It could be an unending trend or a setback. But I don't feel good about it either way.
  16. Rich Campbell ‏@Rich_Campbell · 5m5 minutes ago Bears head coach Marc Trestman is scheduled to meet with reporters momentarily.
  17. I'm going out on a limb and saying the lack of a clear-cut #1 won't affect the Bears.
  18. LOL [expletive] off Philly three top prospects probably means different things to different people.
  19. 12. Jared Allen wears 69 because hes been around forever, everyone talks about him, and he stinks
  20. 11. Ben Roethlisberger is my building 7 of the week because he collapsed even though no Jets hit him

  22. I off-handedly mentioned it earlier, but the more I think about it, the more curious I am how much of Crawford's contract they'd eat. It's only 3 years and he's a pretty nice fit if you believe he can be passable in CF(honestly, I kinda think he and Alcantara are comparable there). Can he play CF?
  23. Not so fast my friend. Teddy Bridgewater is probably poised for a huge breakout game. If AP plays the Vikings will score 30+. I didn't know there was a possibility Adrian Peterson could be back. NFLPA is pressuring Goodell to reinstate him after his plea deal.
  24. Careful with that, you might break your leg.
  25. It's the lack of a competent QB on the other team. Any competent QB can hang 40 on these guys. The exception to that was Matt Ryan, who probably would have done the same if all his receivers weren't dropping passes. Miami had an average QB, but they also had an elite defense. Minnesota has a crappy QB situation and while their defense isn't bad, they aren't as good as Miami. Manuel looked pretty good too though. Still a high risk they give up many scores, though if they could manage to actually all play the same coverage every play maybe they hold them to 21 and we lose 21-20. I wasn't trying to say the Bears will win, just making sense of the point spread. The Bears should score and they theoretically won't get shredded by the opposing QB. And they are home.
