  1. Please let me enjoy my summer before turning all attention, hopes and dreams toward the football season
  2. Of the dead ones, comiskey, yankee, Shea, turner field, the vet (which should count for three rivers and riverfront as facsimiles). Also Jack Murphy but that was football games. as for live ones: wrigley white sox park citi yankee Citizens bank pnc san Fran coors miami fenway petco nationals
  3. I’m probably more casual but one thing I know is futbol fans are the biggest meatheads in sports fandom especially when it comes to talking coach hiring/firing
  4. I am all for breaking up the band and moving in a different direction but if the motivation is to lose more and maybe climb the draft board a little, screw that.
  5. It’s a lot easier to say “plug the black hole spots” than it is for a GM to actually do that. Hoyer is the reason those black holes exist. He chose the guys that suck. When you routinely settle for less than while building a roster you have to suffer the consequences. The core is all post-prime. running this thing back with Hoyer’s interpretation of a filled hole and a bunch of 30 year olds that have never accomplished anything together seems like a fruitless endeavor. But it’s probably best to allow Jed to run out the clock and let a new guy start fresh for 2026.
  6. Somewhat surprising they signed their first rounder instead of him going back to Michigan State. He’ll probably start in Rockford but a good chance to make nhl this season
  7. We’ve been over this. The answer is readily available. The question does not need to be asked.
  8. Cheapass rickets wouldn’t pony up for instaclone
  9. Ugh, I’m in Phillies territory for this matchup
  10. Lazerus and Powers from the athletic for the most part. the nhl offseason is weird. The playoffs go deep into the summer then the draft and free agency goes by in a week. These guys joke that every hockey guy goes off to a cottage on a lake on July 2 as it’s all over now. There will be some stories coming out in august as camp approaches.
  11. The extra marketing money goes to ohtani and mlb, not the individual team.
  12. This one is weird. They’ve spent a lot on similarly mediocre veterans, but the justification at the time was they were the only veterans. Now, roughly half of the team is old guys getting paid more than they would from a good team, because they have a veteran presence, but there is no room for young players to be mentored from these veterans. I don’t like where this is going even if they aren’t seriously inhibited from getting better 3 years from now.
  13. I meant their better parts are league average. The overall team is crap
  14. Looking at the roster as it stands now, it’s a real reminder that this team isn’t good. A lot of the pairings are at best league average. You can hope on that first line being good, but odds are it won’t be that great in comparison to others around the league unless Bedard rises fast. Teuvo and Bertuzzi are both 2nd line guys pushed to the top out of necessity. The 2nd line is terrible. The third line might be a decent third line but, could be worthless. The defense remains shaky, while the goalies might rate out as average. It’s a top heavy roster and the tops aren’t great. Lots of guys that wouldn’t play for contenders are going to get a bunch of minutes. They should rise from lowest scoring team in league to maybe, top 20ish? They should have better depth once the inevitable injury bug begins since they can stash all the kids in Rockford instead of starting them at beginning of season. If Vlasic keeps getting better and Korchinski takes a leap without Jones falling flat they might have a strong blue line. It should be more fun than the past 4 years but they really are still a long ways away.
  15. Based on what Davidson has said publicly and the rumored trade offer of next years unprotected 1st rounder, the Blackhawks do not expect to be a dumpster fire. They’ve spent some money the past 6 months to stabilize the roster and could conceivably threaten for a playoff spot, but almost certainly won’t actually make it unless they get a surge of improvement from young prospects.
  16. Two top 6 forwards and a 2nd/3rd pairing D. That’s got to be a wrap, unless they actually get a higher caliber backup goalie.
