  1. Eh, they "agreed" to it is hardly an argument against them complaining about it. Ownership's job is to exploit the agreement to their financial benefit. Just because you agreed to it doesn't mean you should be okay with however it is implemented. Also, it is standard operating procedure to let it be known what you are unhappy about in advance of negotiations.
  2. It is kind of strange that they would come out so strongly, considering Bryant will end up taking the job of one of their current members. The union always advocates most strongly on behalf of those players that have the potential to make the most money. You can argue it has probably been a very effective concept. While the minimum wage guys are no better off today than they were 20 years ago, the "average" player can now make insane amounts of money if he ever reaches free agency, in part due to all the money teams spend on the super stars.
  3. How so? The only 2 question marks are 3B and LF. I'd think we're likely to be above average to really good everywhere else, and possibly even at those 2 spots depending on who ends up there (i.e Bryant in LF and Olt/Russell at 3B). If we didn't have so many GD threads all over the place this would be easier to keep track of but it does seem like the Cubs have expectations of a questionable defense going into 2015. Unless I am reading this wrong they only have one quality defensive position expected next year, at 1B. CF and SS are the worst.
  4. While I agree with the concept of the board itself being the home page, if for some reason that is not possible or desirable, can you link it to the most active topics? During the season you'd have game threads, the occasional transaction and topic du juor that may be of interest to new visitors. In the offseason you would have transactions and other sports.
  5. That would suggest that you don't Kay, which could suggest you avoid cheap jewelry, which is fine. But the other interpretation is that you are a mysoginist psychopath like Michael corleone. The emphasis is on the "r" to sound out the word.
  6. Great job, you've turned him into Jaxon 2.0 Mark Gonzales ‏@MDGonzales 1m1 minute ago Mesa, AZ Five consecutive batters reach base vs. Hendricks, who is pulled with 1 out in 6th.
  7. Hot topic or hottest topic?
  8. Hmmmm minor leaguers don't deserve the attention anyway
  9. get himself traded for cole hamels
  10. Pretty long. Better question, what are the odds Javy doesn't get called up until he has an extra year of service time? I imagine with the demotion they're going to want him to mash AAA for a bit along with a non-embarrassing K rate. That's a month-1.5 months right there. He needs 77 days in the minors to gain the extra year. So when is that, late June?
  11. approximately the same as his odds of being killed or seriously injured in some sort of accident. I would say somewhere close to double, or maybe even triple those odds.
  12. uhhhhh, no you did it wrong. Baez was option, the other two are not on the 40 man roster and were not optioned, they were simply sent to minor league camp. That is why the media phrased it the way they did. jesus h christ well said (the new title, not the expletive)
  13. I do not buy that. It's not like they are lacking for seconds to discuss inane subjects.

  15. not really, bryant to minor league camp was a fait accompli. Baez's situation was in question I think he meant the team's intent, not CT's wording. Give everyone else something else to talk about so the Bryant argument doesn't loop back through the media in full force again. You mean, like they intentionally optioned Baez so they could try and get away with sending Bryant down and nobody would notice?

  17. The Cardinals are really getting anxious to start the season.
  18. Why would it need fixing yes, that is another way to phrase the question
  19. Why do so many people think the extra point needs to be fixed?
  20. He has to realize that stance is a part of why Bryant is going to be starting in Iowa. Why would he care that his stance is why Bryant is starting in Iowa? His concern is getting Bryant (and himself) more money as soon as possible. His argument that Bryant is good enough to start in the majors now is being proven right now, which also goes to help his argument that he doesn't want his guy signing a long term extension before he has to. More than anything it's a starting point for negotiations around the extension, "if you have any interest, you have to start in record territory".
  21. I can do the eagles and giants as well if need be
  22. I am not even sure he's up yet but the other thread is too dated and I think we can all appreciate the specificity of timing.
  23. Why do you keep asking that question. No, reinsdorf, Steinbrenner, and ricketts are not going to hire him. The Reds would.
