  1. Castro sucking was much more disappointing than surprising to me. I was hopeful but 2013 plus his approach have been in back of my head.
  2. I did not see Russell playing at all. I also half expected Arrieta to take a moderate step back, not become a Cy Young candidate.

  5. They have it for two reasons: 1) They have to have a press conference at the start of camp and any press conference is going to be centered on Kane. 2) Having it with Kane and the 3 leaders of the organization suggests strong support for him. Take into account the absolute nothing to gain everything to lose situation with answering questions and it was inevitable that they'd say next to nothing about Kane/Rape questions. Fair. But why even have Kane take questions when you know he's not going to say anything. "I appreciate your question" "Because of the legal process...". What a joke. I mean, if it even tangentially touched on the incident (distraction, scheduling, going forward, etc...) he didn't say anything. It was a joke. Should have never allowed Q&A. I don't really think it was a joke. They had to have the PC. None of them could comment on anything related to the rape investigation. They could have had a PC with Kane and his lawyer only, but the optics of that would send a strong negative message.

  7. Schwarbs got lifted for defense that was Denorfia Ok thanks. Glad I was wrong. Thought it was Scwarbs and freaked out when I thought it was himbelly flopping on the warning track Schwarber is the size of, like, 3 Denofrias. to be fair, hughes said it was schwarber until he corrected himself like 20 seconds later after realizing he was subbed out I believe Len said Schwarber as well.
  8. He's not actually supposed to be starting them. tree is technically still the active thread starter. He started the 2nd doubleheader which the Cubs won two nights ago, but didn't post the thread yesterday (or today). But we're winning, so..... nope. the guy who starts a winning game thread is the active thread starter. You cede your spot and your start is gone.
  9. This is a PR statement, showing that the team supports him and in effect believes his story and believes he will be exonerated, without saying anything like the Ravens said when they made Ray Rice's wife apologize for getting hit.
  10. Holliday is the main reason I adjusted my initial dirty slide comment.
  11. wow this is not how I would have envisioned this press conference

  15. yes and it was awesome. texted the quote to some pirates fans
  16. I know someone earlier mentioned a bullpen game in Game 2 of the NLDS. And that's actually not the craziest idea ever. We have a bunch of former starters that are playing up a little out of the pen with increased velocity. What's wrong with letting Hendricks and Hammel piggybacking with Richard/Cahill/Wood? Let them all go through the line-up once. Keep the opposing hitters off-balance. The thing that is wrong with that is playoffs eliminate the september call-up depth and if you use 5 guys in one game you can easily run into trouble with just one other extra inning game that series.
  17. I'd wager that most teams lose a lot of games as a result of failing to score more runs.
  18. I believe it is a combo of not wanting Ross 7th or if La Stella or Russell, his #9 guys, are out. I think he's just letting his horses/potential 9 innings guys bat 9th while the guys who last 5/6 innings are still hitting 8th.
