  1. bananas are awesome as soon as the green is almost all gone all the way to the point when there's a few brown spots. Banana bread is also awesome but anything banana flavored sucks balls.
  2. How perfect is it that it's raining on the east coast on the day rondon fan has to start the Cubs @ Phillies game thread. He probably assumes they won't bother playing.
  3. Better record does not mean better team. What if two good teams beat up on three patsies and wild card team has one more win that another division winner? Do they truly deserve a higher seed? Divisions matter and they should. Then go to a balanced schedule You cannot do that. There is no reason to try. It ain't broke and it is pointless to constantly try to fix it. Cannot? They had a balanced schedule not long ago. When? Interleague play has existed since the 90s and there has been no such thing as a balanced schedule since that was introduced. It's an impossible endeavor and completely pointless. Every year there is some made up need to bring "fairness" to the schedule and all the solutions completely ignore the realities of the business of baseball. There isn't a problem and it does not require stupid solutions.
  4. Win 6 and mission accomplished

  7. But it's not just failing to sweep, it's losing that sweep in a game with a late lead that they had many more chances to put away.
  8. Yep. The faint hope was in, "Well, we could just do it ourselves and knock six games off that lead head-to-head." So this reaction was essentially coming unless we swept all 6 games? If not today, then realistically some time next week? I love this team and wholeheartedly believe we belong in the playoffs. But I was going to need to see us get a lot closer than winning today to think we had a realistic shot at the division. If they won today and you didn't think they had a realistic chance of winning the division you would be a weirdo that does not understand what realistic means.
  9. I hate the freaking stupidity that is at the very heart of every one of these stories: Actually, it's not the least bit convoluted and it makes lots of sense. Taking these dumbass, my god that team has more wins than a team in another division it's not fair that something so arcane as geography plays a role in the standings, stances make these people look so freaking clueless about how the business of sports work. It makes sense to have the three best teams in the NL battling for one NLCS spot while the 4th and 5th best teams play for the other? Yes, it does, because that is how sports work. There are better and worse conferences and divisions and tougher schedules and easier schedules and teams that get lucky one year and great teams that get beat out by greater teams. It makes sense to not freak out every season about the seemingly "unfair" set-up and propose new set-ups to solve a non-existent problem. There should not be an obsession with making sure all seeding situations are perfectly distributed. Geography matters in sports. Only idiots dismiss it as a convoluted concept.
  10. Fernando Rodney pitches high leverage situations for the Cubs?
  11. That gives me bad flash backs to our awful high school baseball coach

  13. Why does it make me happy to hear a Bears coach say this? [tweet] [/tweet]
  14. Can't hit worth a damn, can't pick off runners. The first one makes sense, him having been in the AL all his previous career; but a left hander really should have a good move to first. EDIT: Holy [expletive]! A real Lester hit! The point is, that most of the time, the pickoff thing doesn't matter....no need to expend energy getting mad about it. Not to mention, he could have the greatest move in history and it would not have anything to do with the issue at hand.

  17. the only angle he looks out on is when lastella's body hides the leg.
  18. his leg took the place of his arm and he's safe
  19. Don't look back, you can never look back
  20. That just means he's minor league free agent eligible, right? Which doesn't really matter for a guy who is a real prospect the team wants to and can keep.
  21. I'm not sure what the going rate is on rape hush money but that seems high. Yea I'm guessing like 1.5-3M? I'd let Kaner rape me for $3 million. Is that gay? Not necessarily, but it also isn't rape if you let him do it.

  23. Castro has already sat once during the "run" he is on, which has lasted 3 games. The opposing pitcher's splits are notable and worth making this switch. I like it. Over the last 23 games: The dude has been sitting with regularity throughout that time. Over his last 23 games played, 9 of them have been of the one PA variety and he has sat the bench entirely for two of the past 7 games. Castro sitting against a pitcher who has been significantly better against RHP is fine.
