  1. Sure the election was a disaster for many disenfranchised Americans, but won't somebody think of me, the upper middle class straight white guy who has to attend this game? I'm wearing Cubs gear. The Bears are 7 point dogs, and at the risk of saying something profound, that's the point where they either lose by 20 or pull off a surprise win. Cutler was absolutely terrible last game, which is also when he goes out and pulls off miracle wins (at least in my memory). The defense looked good at times. The Giants are in danger of winning 5 games in a row and going 4 games over .500 and that is just not something this team does, and hasn't done in the regular season since the beginning of 2009. New York goes back to back with the Bears and Browns and follow it up with the incredibly mediocre Steelers. They have to be feeling pretty good about their chances to make up ground before facing Dallas again and it would just be fun to not let that happen. The high draft pick is already a lock at this point. I'm not seeing the urgency to lock in a top 2 pick. Just win this win and lose as many others as you want and I will consider this a fun time. Or just lose, I really don't care. There all is aching.
  2. They've had very good teams during that period. It's not going to take 6-7 years to be good again. This isn't baseball. I have no idea what you mean by "haven't even started trying to find their QB". It doesn't do you any good to get your QB and throw him to the wolves with a horsefeathers team. It's much better to have a very good offensive line and solid weapons and then add a QB. Dak Prescott wouldn't be doing dick without the team he lucked into.
  3. How do you tie in football?
  4. He's probably hoping that if he has a repeat year, the Phillies will deal him at the deadline so there's no QO next year. QO system won't be a part of next CBA.

  8. that was the worst thing I've ever seen
  9. Is there anything to him other than the jersey incident, which sounds like something that would have been a deleted scene from Major League II? I know he's not thrilled with the direction of the team, but it's hard to blame him for that. Wasn't he a part of the LaRoche child banishment revolt?
  10. "We are rebuilding with youth like the Cubs!" *acquire Kemp and Dickey because reasons* Well you trade dickey at the deadline
  11. who are all these hollywood celebs? I've heard a handful of 'em joke about it. This "hollywood celebs" thing is a story as old as time with the right wingers. They want to deny people rights and claim it's only rich actors in mansions. There are working people who are gay/minority/etc who are justifiably scared. Why does that amuse you?
  12. You think it's shameful that people joke about leaving the country if a person who has literally stated he will trample civil rights gets elected president? That's really dumb of you. You should look up the definition of shame. Yes. I think it's funny that people getting involved in a democratic election can't handle that they lost fair and square, so much that they are (falsely) claiming that they are going to literally renounce their citizenship. This happens literally every election and it doesn't get less stupid over time. people's rights are legitimately at risk. Minorities, women and LGBT people are in danger. And you find it funny. That's privilege for you.

  15. Cubs hired him Sept 2015. so he was hired during the season, of 2015.
  16. I could take or leave Chapman at this point.

  18. In about 3 years, so they better watch the F out when that happens.
  19. The best point I've seen made is that Jansen didn't start pitching until like 22 years old. At 17 Chapman was pitching in major Cuban tournaments. Lot more wear on the arm of Chapman, who absolutely has to have that 100+ MPH heater to be an elite reliever. The thing about Chapman's velocity is that it's so ridiculous that he can lose a tick and still be really good. Chapman led pitchers in fastball velocity by 2.4 mph, that's the same as the gap between 2nd and 29th. I know some people will think of Game 7 and get apprehensive, but I don't think that's a fair representation of Chapman because he was missing command as much as velocity. He also has only thrown 840 innings as a pro since he was 17 in Cuba, so while his arm isn't Jansen fresh(500 IP!), I don't think there's much risk of past workload weighing him down. Are there still people pushing for Chapman to be a starter?
  20. Cleveland's experiment with "sabrmetric football" will fail and there will be a backlash. Theo will spend the next 2 years figuring out the market inefficiencies of the game and take over the Bears in 2019. After the super bowl win in 2021 he will become mayor in a landslide, providing him more than enough time to bone up on his public speaking ability to run for president in 2028, at age 55.
  21. That was exactly what I thought when I read that last week. I just pictured them getting security to escort Matusz out before Theo came in to apologize for his presence. My guess is the vets thought Theo was weird for doing that. What MLB team doesn't occasionally have to throw out a starter they'd rather not see start in the big leagues?

  23. Coke can sober you up. Should be a trump campaign slogan. I have 0 personal experience with it but Ive heard multiple people say it. . Someone research it! Im curious. the cocaine will offset some of the "make you sleepy" effects of alcohol, so instead of passing out and crashing you will accelerate and crash while telling your buddy what a (grabbed by trump) he is for refusing to do another line with you.
