  1. Missing Goldman and McPhee, with Freeman being gone for 4 games, Floyd, Kwiatkowski, and Bullard being rookies. Basically, looking at it, Hicks and Freeman are elite players. Goldman and Floyd are potential elite. McPhee and Young are solid. The front seven is fine. If they suffer a rash of injuries, it won't look great. Injuries are gonna happen, and they arent that deep. Also not sure Id call Hicks elite. At times he plays at an elite level, but he hasnt been consistent throughout his career. And then Freeman, who is elite, is over 30. So is our front seven the biggest need? No, but they should look to add some pieces. You also can't just forget the fact that the elite Freeman who is over 30 "missed" 4 games due to a suspension for performance enhancing drugs.
  2. wanting lower taxes and easy access to guns are forgivable redneck political ideas. Being pro-Trump makes you a piece of horsefeathers human being. You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic -- you name it. And unfortunately there are people like that. And he has lifted them up. He has given voice to their websites that used to only have 11,000 people -- now 11 million. He tweets and retweets their offensive hateful mean-spirited rhetoric. Now, some of those folks -- they are irredeemable, but thankfully they are not America. But the other basket -- and I know this because I see friends from all over America here -- I see friends from Florida and Georgia and South Carolina and Texas -- as well as, you know, New York and California -- but that other basket of people are people who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them, nobody worries about what happens to their lives and their futures, and they're just desperate for change. It doesn't really even matter where it comes from. They don't buy everything he says, but he seems to hold out some hope that their lives will be different. They won't wake up and see their jobs disappear, lose a kid to heroin, feel like they're in a dead-end. Those are people we have to understand and empathize with as well. And hopefully, those are the MLB players we love who voted for Trump. yes, I'm sure MLB players fit into that mythical poor people let down by the government so they voted for trump side.

  4. I can definitely understand the appeal of not playing the full period in the regular season. As far as the playoffs, seems you have a really good chance of just continually adding periods on top of eachother as teams match the other and the clock expires. I think you can kind of even keep it simpler than UMFans proposal. "First to 8". No clock, just the play clock. why in the world would you do that?
  5. Actually yeah thats a great idea for the playoffs. I can understand why they couldn't want to play a full OT in the regular season but it shouldn't be an issue to play 10-15 mins in a playoff OT game. Then you'll end up needing 2nd overtimes since teams will play for the tie. I see no reason to do away with sudden death. It's not a problem, never has been, other than something for people to get upset about.
  6. I've hated the reds my entire life. Not really sure why specifically, but they've always been right there with the Cardinals in terms of opposing team I hate. And when I was a kid they weren't even in the Cubs division.
  7. Nah, the Bears have some young talent, and if Pace drafts lime he did last year, the Bears will be looking good. Romo would be a great addition, it's not like his skills have been obviously diminishing. No, but his ability to walk upright has been. It's hard to clearly show diminishing skills when you aren't on the field to prove it.
  8. that's a very weird rule by this definition, the Dallas Cowboys don't have a rivalry with anybody in their division
  9. I feel like Atlanta has claimed the "everything of the South" at one point or another.

  11. he took off for Florida days before the game started
  12. I'm not assuming he will be bad, I'm assuming the team that trades with New England for him will have done it poorly. And if he comes to the Bears I will assume he will be bad. for what reason? history? no faith in coaching staff (in many things) especially when it comes to developing a QB. And when they are eventually replaced the next staff will have to deal with him and that turnover never works.

  14. I mean I guess he could've just called himself evanstonian for fun (the actual guy suing isn't from the area, however) evanstonian was not from the area, and he was looking to collect info on others that went through similar issue, class action style
  15. FWIW, 19/20/21 are tampa, denver, detroit what are they trading up for?
  16. I'm not sure the accounting adds up on this one. What do you mean? I combined 2 trades into 1. The first is acquiring pick 20(estimate) then shipping it to NE for Garoppolo. Or are you saying I'm over/undervaluing that pick? I think from a what did you give up and what did you get stand point, you have to list the #3 vs whatever you end up with. And I'm not sure I see how they trade the #3 and end up with Garoppolo, a 2nd rounder in 2017 and 2018 and a 4th rounder in 2017.
  17. I'm not sure the accounting adds up on this one.
  18. best case scenario is a kirk cousins situation where he'll have a pretty decent showing on a mediocre team in need of coaching turnover and the front office will have to make a decision on a huge financial commitment. and they won't have a 2nd round pick in 2017 and maybe 2018 to put on the field with him, so new england will get to do it all over again with another team.
  19. I don't understand that line of thinking. If I were to knowingly break the law and hack into the competitions databases I'm sure as hell not telling my boss, I'm going to pass off their work as my own in order to try to further my career. But in this case passing off that work as your own has little to no use to the hacker. It's not like he's an inventor or trader that was using that information to look brilliant. They were specifically looking at it to see what the Astros thought of players.
  20. mason jar storm? did jars of clay cover ride the lightning?
  21. others are referring to him as a guy they can shuttle back and forth. Admittedly I only eyeballed his MLB experience and took his DFA as proof he was out of options, but if he does have one left then that's great. brett and bruce miles refer to sending him to AAA while other outlets prior to the deal talked about him as a guy w/o options. presumably they DFA'd him for 40 man reasons, when the Rockies acquired Holland.
