To help make us feel better? not even. it would warrant discussion either way. who fires their GM the first day of free agency? lmao apparently he is the only guy in the org that their franchise qb, who they seem to be doing everything possible to alienate, even liked too (there's also no NFL general offseason thread that i'm aware of so i figured i'd bring it up here since this thread was moving) i can't say that i know mike mayock would be a bad GM, but that part is still pretty funny too Black Monday yo!

how can the team with jay cutler for the past 8 years be considered anonymous? one of the biggest lightning rods in the nfl. Nah people stopped caring about Jay Cutler outside of Chicago years ago not true at all. people have talked about cutler in several markets.

The Lovie/Angelo years were pretty good, but it's been a huge disaster since they've left. And before that sucked ass as well.

It would be his last year under contract so it's either extension or fire at that point. I can only imagine they are waiting out the time to fire him, but who the hell knows.

This is dumb and wrong. The idea that smart teams don't spend in free agency is dumb and wrong. You have to spend in free agency to compete. There is no such thing as a purely draft driven team. Cap space can and should be used to acquire the best players possible.

He's 32, so there's very little chance he's here for 3 years. Also, playoffs are a possibility for every team over a 3 year horizon.

A) You don't know that. Players can see the Bears are committing to Glennon and realize the team is a joke and not worth playing for. B) JHC, this isn't about Glennon vs Cutler. This is about, if you're going this route, you better actually get studs on your defense and right now the Bears aren't getting studs on their defense.

But the point is they are pursuing the strategy of running a handcuffed offense. It's one thing to actually try and field an offense that can score points and failing because you got the wrong QB. But when you give a QB $15m/year, knowing he's not going to be putting up points, your strategy is to win with defense. In order to do that you need a defense that can win you games and the Bears aren't doing that either. Well winning with a dominant D I think would be true with Cutler too, so thats a cash/cost wash. I do like Cutler better, but I'm not sure that difference is enough to have strong opinions on. So they are in the same predicament had they done what I would do and kept Cutler. THE POINT IS THEY ARE MISSING OUT ON TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYERS while committing to Glennon.

Only way Glennon thing works out is by building a dominant defense so you can just hope for steady competence on offense rather than needing to score lots of points. But only way they will build a dominant defense is if they actually start bringing in dominant players. And that isn't happening.

I suppose that those dudes should be allowed to do whatever they want, but that stuff is just so childish. I'm not surprised at the names of players who stuck up for the practices. And while dressing up the newcomers as cheerleaders might be fine in a vacuum, it is going to get emulated by kids (which Arrieta hints at), and I think most of us here have seen how swiftly out of hand things like this can get. Simply no need for it. They don't seem to understand that the issue is not with hazing, or being mean to the players, but rather that hazing, or being mean to the young players was being defined by them as making men dress like women because women be weak and therefore you are weak if you dress like them hahaha you are uncomfortable.
